It's a good practice to think about things you are grateful for. It reminds us of the good things in our lives when we might be struggling.
Mine are this week:
1. The weather I am absolutely loving the changeable weather, warm and wet walks in the rain restore my soul 2. My camera and the skills I'm developing 3. My boss, who has been fantastic during some bad times recently.
Please feel free to share yours. Many words or just one , it doesn't matter how many.
1. Signs of hope in France and the UK 2. My relative good health (despite my asthma and the ongoing presence of COVID, my injury history and my stubborn refusal to stop playing basketball as I get older, etc.) 3. The courage and honesty of my fellow WAMers who come to this forum and help make it feel like a community
1. Waking up this morning with a lovely fella in his bed 2. Enjoying a nice community event I helped to stage 3. Relaxing at the end of the day enjoying inspiration and pictures of some amazing wamming uploaded in the last day or two.
1. My physical health. I've been severely ill most of my adult life, and for the past 4 years or so, I've been pretty stable, borderline normal even. It's something I will never take for granted, as getting older alone creates it's own challenges.
2. My family. A lot of us have fucked family situations, I'm no different. While some of them I will NEVER be reconciled to, I was able to have a mended relationship with my grandfather the last few years before he passed in May. It was a reminder of how short our lives are, and how important relationships can be.
3. This will sound weird, but...that I can work. I spent a lot of time the last 20 years or so in and out of hospitals. Jobs were able to be held a year or two at the most before illness took me again. One of my love languages is acts of service. While my exact day to day is frustrating at times, ultimately, I work in medical and I help patients get what they need. And that makes me feel at least a little more useful in this life.
1. Nice warm weather so I can wear my favourite tops out and about 2. Friends with adjoining allotment gardens just around the corner 3. BBQ and drinks together on a lazy afternoon (as in the photo below)
