Hey guys. I set this group up to hopefully host the ongoing Loser Has To games. We can have threads last a longer time here, but more importantly, each new dare could be its own thread, instead of just one long one. That could make it easier to keep track of what's going on, see any followups, etc.
I wanted to start with this thread to see if anyone had interest in playing the game here instead of the regular forum... or even helping to moderate (host) the group. Also, I wonder how could such a thing work, if at all? Let me know your opinion....
We can also set up other groups for games. If you think you have an idea you think would be popular and want to host it, lemme know.
I like this. It keeps the dare pictures with the dare instead of somewhere on down the thread, and will ones that have pictures posted have the extra flag like the other forums do? That would be a big help in seeing which dares have been completed.
The only complication I see is that when someone assigns a dare and creates a new dare, that will be two steps instead of one, and unless they post a link from the old dare to the new, it would be more difficult to follow the overall thread.
As far as other groups, how about one for general messy dares and games? My NFL messy dare challenge would fit in there.
A conservative approach to start with, maybe not what MM had in mind, but what about a Group just for "Messy Dares and Challenges", which would encompass, all in one place, all of the existing dares and challenge threads, including Loser Has to? Having them all under one umbrella might draw more people to dares and challenges, and then would hopefully build on other ideas when new participants see what's going on.
While it's tempting to redesign "Loser Has to", with each dare being a separate thread with the proof of completion posted there, and meaning I assume that the person choosing the loser would also then start a new thread with a new dare (seems a bit clumsy though), "Loser Has to" DOES work quite well as is, so maybe a redesign is not necessary or desired?
Anyway, I think some presence in the new Groups for Messy Dares and Challenges sounds very promising.
I like where the discussion's going. Looking forward to hearing more ideas bouncing around... Don't forget that I can work with you guys to customize the forum itself to our needs, in case we need to do something like allow threads to link to one another, or something like that. That's why I created the groups, so we could do some new things that would work well for the particular group.
Hmm - if, in Loser Has to, the person choosing the loser could then click on "link to next dare" and have a new thread open as well as insert the link to that new thread in the reply, that would be nice! And certainly worth trying. Would be good if the dares would also be automatically numbered in the thread title, or have some other way of easily locating the active dare.

I like which way you are heading Capistrano . I think that the group should be based on dares .But then that group breaks down into individual threads , being for example looser has too is 1 thread . The NFL messy dare challenge is another thread . The new year weight loss dare another thread etc. All these dares would come under the one group "Messy dares group" because each of these games or challenges rely on following in the one thread to play very much like a forum discussion

I agree tiedandmessy , to break the games into threads is big and clumsy . Keeping each dare game in it own thread make it far easier to play and track and have all those games under one group
What I would love to see in a dare group is a way to accumulate points for doing dares. My concept is that the person that sets the dare also sets the point value for the dare; people would be able to vote that the point value is too low or too high, and it would adjust. Responses to the dare would be presumed to be a "I did the dare" if they include pictures and just conversation if they don't. People would also be able to vote on whether an "I did the dare" post actually did the dare by putting a percentage from 0 to 100 which would represent how much of the dare they thought was completed. Take the average percent and that person that posted that response gets that much percent of the dare point value (perhaps assume that the person making the "I did the dare" comment gives themselves a 100 vote so that there's something to average).
I was on a dare site one time that had something like this (didn't have adjustment of dare point value) and it was a lot of fun doing dares and posting pictures and accumulating points. Dares there had a maximum score of 30 and I ran up over 1000 points.

Well, unless Messmaster can manage to make it less clumsy and even more desirable than what we have now.

I assume this would mean a separate thread for each dare or challenge? With the completion proof posted to that thread? This could be fun, even without the graded competition aspect. I'm wondering if the grading aspect might require more participation than we tend to get here though.

The grading aspect is just a way to keep people from posting bogus stuff to accumulate points. By default people would get the full points, but if they post something bogus then in theory they get voted down and the points go away.
I like the idea Capistrano37, it's always frustrated me when I've made the effort to do the dare/forfeit and post a few pics while others don't. Whether points/likes would be a way to encourage more participants or just see the same people playing we'll only know if it happens!
Hmmm, it's probably complicated but could losing earn negative points, or a marker of some sort which is cleared when the pictures go up? If someone had three marks they'd be unable to participate until they post their pics.
The current thread can get muddled but it's not hard to quote the dare post when the pics go up. I guess if we had individual threads for each dare, more than two people could go in with the loser selected automatically after a set time after the second person is in? Whether that would need one of the winners to be selected to set the next dare or just leave it to the next user to set one though.

The way I interpreted this suggestion was that there would be no loser selected, just an open dare/challenge for anyone who responds to that thread. If that's not actually what was intended, I would propose such a game.
Having followed "Loser has to" through a few threads on and off - my views... Loving the idea of a separate thread/group for messy dares/challenges, would certainly be 1 of my first stops here. Aussie/Capistrano's chat re separate threads for each challenge I.e. "loser has to" has a thread, NFL challenge a thread etc...Again agreed! The points idea intrigues me as I reckon we can all name individuals playing "for the fantasy" ? I can't claim to be perfect here, but for me - you sign in for a dare - you do so under risk to ACTUALLY DO IT! I would be loath to mess with the basic idea of the game much, perhaps MessMaster can suggest what's possible re likes/points and maybe forfeiting the non participating? I will throw this out there though, there are themes/dare types I ll never do, no disrespect to those who will, just not viable for me. There are other types I d do 1 a week happily, how about whether this is splitting overall group or splitting a thread ie 'loser has to' into dare types even just simply "wetlook" "messy" "cross dress" maybe other options?

It wouldn't be too hard for me to add a button to "close" a dare while linking it to the next new one... Or to make it so that only one thread can be the active dare, possibly as set by your group host. Whatever makes it easy and fun with less searching.

I think that the major reason to possibly put this on a group is to avoid the long single threads where you can't find (or search) results easily. You could spread out inside your own group, follow / subscribe to individual dares, and see which ones were completed. We can create other groups for other dares if enough people want them, and we can probably tailor them each a bit for the game being played. ...Or not if we feel this won't even work at all.

We could definitely do some sort of points / recognition type thing, maybe weekly or something? Wam Gamer of the Week haaha
I think two nice additions to "Loser Has to" would be: 1) Some way to see a list of all lost dares, preferably the ones not yet completed. Not sure how MM could accomplish this semi automatically. I guess I'm envisioning the "decider" clicking on one of two buttons for the two current players, and this would cause all of the correct actions. 2) A single thread for posting the results of all lost dares. That way it would not clutter up the main thread.
Regarding the discussions in the "Messy Dice Game" thread about requiring online camera sessions for lost dares: I'm wondering if that has ever actually happened. Could anybody who has actually participated in an online camera session due to a lost messy dare post a comment here about how it went? If enough people enjoy doing this, maybe there should be a separate thread devoted to online camera games.

I did this with a few people and it worked out fine. Just a matter of trying to find a time that works for both people involved.

I think that would make it much more difficult to follow. Instead of one active game in a thread, we could have different active threads depending on the game.
If the point is to make the threads shorter, then how about limiting the length a particular thread goes to a month or a set number of pages - so for example in the Loser Has to thread....It could be February 2018 Loser Has to....it runs until the end of February and then a new thread is created... March 2018 Loser Has to

While a good idea, I think the point system becomes too objective and can lead to arguments of why is this dare worth this many points while this dare is worth that many but it is the same in nature.
What do all these accumulated points get a person?

I think the current challenge games are a good idea, but I also like the concept of adding more threads for simpler challenges. Like r1chardo said threads for wet look dares or messy (1-2 items) or messy (5+ items) or cross dress dares or public dares.

Bragging rights, and motivation to do one more challenge to pass the person above them on the scoreboard. Nothing else. Kind of like a long-running low-scoring video game.
