Dear vintage friends,

I added the {humour} tag as I want this to be a lighthearted rant and not a proper 'going off on one'... But, there have been a couple of threads along the lines of 'I'm so bored that WAM is all the same..'

I have to smile, I, maybe like you, come from an age where it seemed like WAM (sploshing, I'm a Brit darn it! ) didn't exist. Of course, neither did the internet (that always shocks my teenage son, 'what there was a time before the internet...') - yes, we were lucky and had more gunge on British telly (yet, I was still too young to watch OTT!) but if you wanted a messy fetish... well, dream on.

As I have said before, I went, on a whim to an 'adult shop' in Leicester Square and shyly asked if they had anything with mud wrestling (it was more main stream, what else could I ask for?) the bloke went out the back and handed me Splosh! magazine and my life changed... I wasn't alone in my thoughts... Thank Fu*k for that!

Dial-up internet where you would get, line by line an image... It didn't matter if it was crappy or not, this was costing money on the phone bill. I also fell foul of doing silly things like trying to explain to a work IT manager why there were loads of tar and feathers pictures being downloaded...

So now we get hundreds, thousands of pictures - well bring it on. Yes, a lot are similar, but we also have lots of niche producers and fiction and all sorts...

Oh God, I sound like my father, 'the youth of today...'

Bless them... they don't know the reality...

So, any stories from your own, more vintage past to share? I'll add the pain of finding out about a messy event in Splosh! months after it had happened, or writing to PO Box numbers and waiting weeks for a potential reply... Happy days!

Around about 1992 I once asked a video seller in a market in Amsterdam, who had lots of naked oil-wrestling videos on display, if he had any where the girls went in the oil with clothes on.

He looked at me like I'd asked for a deep-fried squirrel on a stick.

Three years later, in 1995, I bought a modem and went on-line, and met Rob Blaine. The world changed forever that day.

And indeed, downloading over dial-up, you clicked to download something described as "women in dresses in the pool", and it labouriously came down, line by line, over the next 40 minutes, only to eventually prove to be women sitting round a pool, dresses pulled up to their waists, and only their legs, in stockings and suspenders, in the water. Meanwhile you were paying 60p a minute for the dial-up phone call. Aha, the good old days!

My perspective is mud, but I think a lot of this also applies to WAM...

I come from even further back when there was nothing but the snail mail mud network and the only way of getting on the network was some mudwrestling advertisement in AMFEM Magazine, that's over on this side of the pond in the States, of course! Then came Splosh Magazine, Aquantics, and Buff Films but gosh that was an inconvenient expensive pain having to convert US dollars to pounds to purchase any of that. At the same time, there was me and my Have Mud, Will Wallow VHS tapes which in turn led to me trying to pass that on and helping get Messy Fun started to handle my tapes which didn't work out at all but had the effect of getting everything started over here with the Messy Fun Newsletter that became the new gold standard to get into contact with others with...

So, now here we are with the Internet and digital natives and what I'm noticing is that there is a tremendous difference in mudmen now as opposed to back when we all rode dinosaurs to school. Decades ago, you had to have perseverance and some skill in maintaining a conversational snail mail relationship to be able to acquire mud material. And when you drove a thousand miles to meet someone you knew only via snail mail, they would be there...

Nowdays, the Internet makes everything so much more easy to find and there is oh so much more of it and it is so much easier to, so to speak, decide you are indeed a mudman as you no longer have to work for it, you just get online, look at a mud photo/video and now you can call yourself a mudman if you wish. Alas, and I think it is primarily because it is so easy for folks to consider themselves a mudman, well, these days it is more the exception than the rule to actually be able to meet up with other mudmen, as, after all, for many, being a mudman is little more than a passing whim than a lifelong obsession...

Is this good or bad, or more likely, isn't it just what it is...

Ok, so that guy was selling videos of girls oil wrestling nude--and he thought you were a weirdo because you wanted to see them with their clothes on?

Yeah, go figure eh...

Who on earth would want to see that...

Oh my gosh, pre-internet days. How long ago that seems. Like so many others, discovering Splosh magazine in some odd way legitimised the wet and messy scene. I hadn't realised so many other people were into it.

I was then fortunate enough to fall across an 'adult magazine' shop that not only sold Splosh, but also rented out VHS copies of WAM films. It was an Aladdin's cave of delights and I was an avid customer. ('VHS'; now there is another nostalgic memory!)

Eventually having collected each new edition of Splosh as they emerged - (sadly since disposed of!) - I plucked up courage and wrote to Bill asking if he would be willing to take a booking to mess up a rather timid cross dresser. Of course he was more than happy to oblige. I asked for "quantity rather than quality" in terms of product used, and boy did Bill deliver - (as you can see in my photos posted here).

Sadly it was the only time I met Bill as he died shortly after. He was a genuinely lovely man and he and I found we shared a similar sense of humour, so the session was full of laughs.

After Bill's death I was also fortunate enough to be splashed by the legendary Sammy-Jane during the period when she tried to keep Bill's legacy going. Sadly I have no photos from that session.

As I have mentioned previously on other posts, I was fortunate enough to have met the legend Bill Shipton on numerous occasions, the first occasion at the inaugural Aquantics event at Tenby over 30 years ago.He was great company a wonderful raconteur and good company over several pints! I used both his studio in Sussex and indeed at his house with the likes of Sammy Jane, April and Emma. I also met Mike Ellison (WSM) at the same Aquantics event and it was he who arranged my first messy session with the lovely Debbie the following year. Over the years I have met a large number of lovely people through WAM , numerous girls a number of whom have retired but some still active such as Satine and Ivy who have been prepared to get messy with me, producers , (dare I mention Mostwam ?) Dunk tank Dave and Rev Slymsford, and importantly genuine fans of our fetish at meets.
So I have ticked most boxes and although not a regular contributor on the forum I am a regular visitor. The current generation raised on Internet access can probably not remember the excitement of magazines and the occasional TV show featuring a female getting wet and messy that fellow "seniors" remember.
My message to anyone thinking of organising a session is go for it. It's not cheap BUT who knows what's round the corner in life. Never have regrets!

From this side of the pond (America) and even before VHS and cable, WAM would show up on prime-time TV rarely, pics even less. A current movie like "The Great Race" was years away from ever being on TV. What we had were non-network TV stations airing silent and early 30s slapstick films on Saturday morning and one half hour M-F... and imagination. I collected photos of women i thoght were sexy and whose expressions might be something messy or wet.

I still do. The recent photo of the blonde here might be "What do you think you're going to do with that pie?" Lily Collins, the brunette, might be daring "Go ahead do your worst!" And isn't that a meringue or some sort of pastry on the outdoor cafe's table?

My wetlook fetish wasn't neglected, either. A woman in a sexy dress standing next to a pool? Or how about the woman in the latex or leather dress standing in the bathtub? For gods sake someone turn the f'ing water on!
