Lost one game to magicwam35 (I left 8 ships on the board) I went momentarily Insane and offered a cold clothed shower per ship left! I'll honor that but I also 'shot my mouth off' and said "once a day'' magicwam35 can say "Shower Time" to me and I have to oblige. Once a day means I'd probably Never catch up getting cold clothed showers done so I messaged him saying I "twice a week" is more than enough for punitive cold showers. Now to be fair magicwam DID already say in a message, "Shower Time" and I will honor that.
Has anyone ever played a game with live penalties? It would be fun to play with hitting with something small, like one egg smash for a hit, something larger for sinking a boat, larger still for losing the game (maybe even escalate for 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 5) But then what happens if you have a lucky day, you've won, but you're sitting there with all that mess prepared?

That's what I'd want from a messy battleships game. You could even have a predefined item for each ship, with smaller big things for small ships (tin of beans?), ranging through stuff like cartons of custard and a big tub of porridge for the biggest ship.
Losing gets you a big tub of all the slops.
I think you'd just have to accept that you could have a lucky day and have loads of leftovers. I'm sure some use could be found.
Fooled around and played 2 out of 3 against Dassault and lost handily and then spent a couple minutes under a cold shower in the clothes I was wearing.
Here's an idea. How about a game where the loser gets messy with items determined by how many ships the winner has left? Each ship represents a specific item, and if you didn't manage to destroy it it's going to end up on you.
Here's what I had in mind for me:
Carrier (5) Big bowl of porridge Battleship (4) Big bowl of chocolate cake batter Cruiser (3) 1kg Carton of custard Sub (3) Sit on a cake Destroyer (2) Pie in the face
You can use the same, or choose your own list.
If you're feeling brave you could go for a best of three, where the loser has to get messy with the remaining items from both their losing games. You can either use two lists, or double up on the first. I'm going with two, so here's my round 2 list:
Carrier (5) Big bowl of vanilla cake batter Battleship (4) Trifle Cruiser (3) Chocolate sauce Sub (3) More custard (I like custard ) Destroyer (2) Tin of rice pudding

If I'm online at the weekend I will play for a messy item per ship or square (challengers choice) remaining at the end of each round.
Best of X rounds (challengers choice), but with a catch - we'll play all rounds regardless so the overall winner might still something messy to do, however if someone does lose all rounds then they get an extra forfeit of the winners choice.
