I've heard from numerous sources that certain substances - mainly anything sugary or dairy put near one's nether regions can cause an unpleasant yeast infection. Is this true? It's something I live in constant fear of, if I'm honest - but then I see more extreme WAM stuff and wonder if their lady parts ever suffer ill effects.
It's possible. The yeast is present at all times, but the sugars can cause it to flare up/over grow. Having penetrative sex would push the sugars further inside and harder to wash off.
I don't know if there is anything that can prevent this or make it less likely; maybe wash before and after, apply anti-yeast creams straight away?
Using non-sugary things is the way to go, non-reactive slime/gunge etc.
Anything food related, especially anything with a high sugar content, is something to be cautious with. Always take care to not get any large amounts inside and if you do plan on any kind of penetration clean each other, or whatever you want to use, off beforehand as best you can. Of course, afterwards cleanliness is key! Inside and out. I know douching isn't the best for health, but it's better than cake batter.
Honestly though, I try to avoid sex or penetration in anything other than safe, non irritating slime. One of my favorites for sex is basically an extra thick KY. Keeps everything lubed and no risk of a UTI. However, sweet things are a good way to encourage oral (at least in my book) helps give a little insensitive and a goal to get each other clean before you are allowed to stop.

Washing very well afterwards is important and since my immune system is fucked up I do apply a 2% Miconazole Nitrate cream externally after I use anything with sugar. Even if there is no penetration you can still get an infection. Since I have started using the cream after sessions I have not gotten any infections. It's OTC and cheap and a good way to prevent issues especially if you are prone to infections. Being diabetic or having autoimmune issues makes you more susceptible to infections.

I've gotten UTIs too, and my parts are on the outside. I imagine you'll get a wide variety of answers. But this is why I really like the slimes like methylcellulose the most.
If you pee after getting messy you are less likely to end up with a UTI. Women are advised to always pee after sex for this very reason.
wam is not associated with yeat infections at all. trust me
I have been wamming 10 years and had every substance known to man in on and around my ladyparts
it's trying to clean up too vigorously that does it NOT the wam itself
no douching ever - even if you've had an entire jar of nutella up your ladyhole. the vagina is self cleaning. let it do its thing and just gently rinse with warm water. no scrubbing or douching ever. Yes this will mean you have chocolately panties for a day or so (in the above scenario anyway) but lol trust me it's worth it
also introducing sugar to the area doesn't cause it either. people think that but actually it changes the ph and makes yeast infection more UNLIKELY so seriously just be gentle with the cleaning
Candy and I must have similar vaginas haha. I do know some people are really susceptible to yeast infections in general though... so maybe just don't put anything inside of you? I would guess that would make problems less likely. I take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (when I remember) a day. That great for all around wellness including lady parts. Guys can benefit from it too. It's great for your digestive system. No WAM related problems thus far. Good luck!
Haha everytime someone likes something on here and I get a notification the topic line cracks me up. "WAM and yeast infections"... lmao! Brilliant! Happy International Women's Day!
I also haven't had any problems with this. On the odd occasion I have an imbalance down there I use some vagisil cream and wash with femfresh, but I've only had to do this once in the 3 years I've been sploshing and I didn't link it to mess at the time. Not even when I did my 'filling my cake-hole' video
