------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: 4/13/2025 - I took it down and deleted it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello
I made a wam game where you role play as a contestant on a talent game show. You can play solo or with a partner. The talents are improvisational acts that are randomly picked. You provide a list of forfeits. A panel of 4 judges will pass or fail your act. If they fail your act, you forfeit. The forfeit is randomly picked from your list. There are more details on the website:
DELETED
I call it: WAM Improv Talent Show, or WAMITS.
Here is what to expect:
A welcome screen which explains the game. A talent select screen where you select talent categories. A screen where you list forfeits that you have. The game begins with an introduction of the host and 4 judges. The game displays text for dialogue of the host and judges and a countdown timer. You perform a randomly selected talent for a 30 second round. Your talent act is judged by 4 judges. There is dialogue for a minute. You pass or fail. You prepare and hold your forfeit while being judged. If the judges fail your act, you forfeit for 30 seconds. If the judges pass your act, you put down and save your forfeit. You repeat, performing another talent, until all forfeits are used. The game plays sounds when your talent act is about to begin and when it ends. A summary screen is displayed at the end which shows a result of how you forfeited.
The game does not have a climax ending. It will end when the rounds are over. There is no victory or losing in the end. You can continue to role play and perform a final act for the host and judges if you want to have a happy ending.
I appreciate feedback because it helps me make improvements to the game.
Enjoy
Edit: I removed overly detailed text from the original post and put it into a reply.
Had a quick play, for use in a session for me it would need to say the key instructions to remove the reliance on having to be able to see the screen (something that can become progressively harder depending on forfeits.)
Sometimes, just having something to randomise and instruct a session would be good, never mind the game side of it, just enter what you've got and have auto Annie tell you what to do would be good.
Had a little test of it, it's got potential! I would add an option to skip dialogue with a botton on the screen for those that read fast but otherwise this feels like it would be the perfect game for first time meets. You've done well with this

No idea how simple that is to do though.
Thanks for trying it I want to try if sounds would help avoid having to stare at the timer countdown on the screen. There is an option to disabled sounds. I added 4 sounds:
* Talent round begin (notification) * Talent round end (ding) * Pass judgement (chime) * Fail judgement (trumpet)
When these noises play, it becomes important to look at the screen to see what the talent is, when to stop performing the talent and check what the forfeit is, and whether you fail and have to forfeit, or pass and put the forfeit down.
Do you think sounds are good? Let me know if the sounds are good, or I could try some different ones.
I am considering adding generated character voices, but it would be only a female voice for my preference hehe. So I am not sure if that would make it less fun for some who would prefer a male voice. It wouldn't be too difficult to try it, but it would be time consuming because I have hundreds of lines of text for all of the different talents.

Thanks for testing it out!
A 7 round game was 16 minutes, which is:
* 1m intro * 2m getting messy (30s for each forfeit) * 3.5m talent acts (30s for each talent) * 9.5m dialogue (about a minute per round)
It felt like the dialogue was a bit too long, so I tweaked some times to make it go a little quicker. Hopefully it is not too fast to read. If anyone that plays thinks its too fast to read text, let me know and I can slow it down. It might be too fast now.
A 7 round game is now about 12 minutes, so about 4 minutes less waiting for the dialogue. I also added an option to skip the intro where the host and judges are introduced. It gets repetitive seeing that after a few times.
I may consider adding an option to skip the dialogue of the 4 judges. It would just be the host that decides if it is a pass or fail immediately after the talent is performed. Would you, or anyone, like this way of playing? The judges add some silly positive or negative responses about your act, but otherwise their responses do not impact the outcome of the game.
I put a bit too much details in the original post, and I wanted to move it to a reply. I want to make the original post describe the game a bit better. Here are some game design notes that I moved from the original post:
Here is what I was going for:
Have a fun messy session that tries to maximize anticipation. Feel commanded by a simulated host that will tell you what to do. Perform acts that will have you feel humiliated. Feel like you are in a spotlight under pressure to perform. Perform vocal, physical, sexual, or explicit activities. Feel judged in front of a panel of simulated judges. Forfeit in front of the simulated host and judges to feel humiliated.
This is not a thread and reply based game, but feel free to upload screenshots of the summary that is displayed at the end or pictures.
The game is just text with a timer. The screenshots show what you can expect. You really need to act it out and role play for it to be fun. React to the judges. Feel anticipation for their judgement and forfeit. Feel humiliated by performing silly acts and getting messy.
There was no sound in the first version. I did consider adding sound affects for timers, audience, round music, and generated voices for the host and judges. I also considered generating images of the host and judges. I decided against that, and I wanted the game to be more about role playing rather than content.
The talents are meant to be a surprise. I want to avoid showing them and spoiling it. The summary has faint text which shows the talent, so if you are interested you can look closely to see what talents someone performed in their summary screenshot. In the summary screenshot which I attached, it shows that I failed the 1st and 2nd act and had to forfeit. I passed the 3rd, 4th, and 5th acts. I failed the 6th and 7th act and had to forfeit.
There is an advanced way to list forfeits. You can write "pie, in the face, on the chest" and it will have a 50/50 chance of selecting the face or chest. In the screenshot example, I randomly got it in between the legs for my first pie, and in the face for my second pie. Or, you can write "pie in the face" and that will be that forfeit.
New version deployed, v1.3.0 - added settings on the bottom of forfeits screen to change timings. This is to accommodate the idea from user Slimewife.
Talent Time - How long you perform your talent act for. The default is 30 seconds. Forfeit Time - How long you have to use your forfeit. The default is 30 seconds. Judge Time - How long each of the 4 judges take. The default is 3 seconds. The 4 judges take 12s.
You can also manually input numbers to have custom timings, such as a 10 talent time but 20 second forfeit time.

Thanks! I am considering adding voices. It might make the game more delightful. I would need to pay someone, or else use some of the new AI voice generators. I think it would require around 450 voice lines to be recorded or created. The currently has 115 talents. The host has 1 line per talent plus a handful of generic lines. There are 2 lines per talent for judges. The judges also have around 250 generic lines. If I want to create both male and female versions, then it is like 900! I want to add even more talents. I was also considering getting photos or generating images to represent the host and judges. They could show reactions.

Thanks, happy to hear
Some images would be nice, but as of right now I don't have plans add images.
My original plan was to have AI images if the judges, host, and audience. I also wanted AI character voices. I also wanted AI generated gameshow theme music. I even wanted to generate the dialogue with AI and voices in realtime that would incorporate your forfeits and the talents. It is possible, but it might be too much effort for me. The images would show my preference in women - and I'm not sure if everyone would enjoy that.
Instead, I think you will just have to use your imagination . Imagine you are on a gameshow, the host directs you, the judges stare at you and react, and the audience laughs when you forfeit. Act and roleplay like a contestant. If the judge says they liked your act, give a thumbs up and a smile. If the judge says they disliked your act, give a fist and frown.
I did try to make the game gender agnostic. The judge and 4 hosts could be male or female. Also, I wanted to mention them here:
Hazel - the gameshow host Judges: Robin - a olympic athlete Ellis - a psychotherapist Ash - a software engineer Drew - a chemistry professor
I tried to add character and inflections in their dialogues. For example, Ash makes nerdy computer themed puns. The game, talents, judges, and everything is meant to be gender agnostic so that anyone could play regardless of your gender or preferences.
I am wondering if instead of AI images, I could commission video clips of someone reading the lines of the host . I would likely commission a woman as the host. Would anyone enjoy that?
I do agree that just the text alone isn't very interesting. It needs something to make it more exciting and delightful.
I think if you are craving images of the Scene of this, what we really need is to see it being played. I was considering of getting customs of this game being played. A visual example would be very helpful
