Using Paypal for customs solicited here? Please stop.
The only way you can do that is to sneak around and hope that Paypal doesn't figure it out, and when they do, you just sign up to another account. This is bad.
Over the years we've built up a reputation with our billers to where we can take Paypal for purchases. But they want it to go through Epoch. Any other way is against their terms, and I do not want UMD's name all over their internal notes about where they caught people doing adult transactions. I know the 30% UMD store fee sucks, but going through Epoch / Paypal is what keeps us legit. Please don't mess it up for everybody.
FYI the 30% UMD store fees do not suck.... nor do the 30% fees the Mothership store systems charge as well. Those fees are very fair because what you get at UMD and theMothership for those fees is hosting for your media and usage of their proprietary design store systems and 24/7 tech support for your wam business. Clips4sale system charges 40% fees to use their store system, so UMD and TheMothership provide an excellent service for wam models and producers and their hosting fees are very fair and we should do all we can to support them and follow their terms of service rules.
Honestly I am stoked to pay the 30% fees. It is a small price to pay for advertising, site maintenance and all the rest of the work you do here on UMD. I have friends that post videos on clips for sale and they take a much larger chunk!!!!
I honestly hope that some of that percentage goes directly to you MM. You deserve it!!!
I use giftrocket.com and have not had any issues with that site so far. I know people outside the US have told me that can't use that site so in that case I take tribute via clips4sale or if there are things I really want to buy I will do an amazon gift card. There are a lot of options besides paypal out there.

Since PayPal was introduced i've felt even more safer purchasing downloadable content on here. Never liked it before when i had to use my personal bank card. Hoping that people who are doing this take note of it, because i'd hate to see us lose this PayPal feature, even though it goes through Epoch, it's still 100% safer than i felt before. I think you have done an amazing job MM, the reputation of the forum alone and all the hard work you have put in has resulted in being able to use PayPal in this way, just hope it doesn't get messed up by a few bad eggs trying to beat the system and avoid the 30% charge. It's only 30% - set up a store, do your thing keep it legit - besides, i only buy from here now, so if the shady people want my money, they gonna have to go legit anyway

Actually c4s only takes 25% via their tribute system which is why I have started using that for international customers.
Well jayce and I are kind of in a unique situation where the only button for customs is on HER end, and she's got enough messages to last her until the end of time, so I really don't have much of a choice but to use PayPal. I just tell people to make sure not to put in ANY information on PayPal as to what it's for, for BOTH our protection.
So maybe there could be a button for models who aren't attached to a store account (like me) to get customs through the site? I'd be happy to pay the 30%, but until reading this I really thought that was my only option.
I mean, Jayce is kind of in the same position with the wetlook store she and Ariel have on UMD. Only ONE of them runs that account. And the store I run with Adam! It's under HIS account. That is a little bit easier to manage since we live together, but Jayce & me? That just doesn't seem to work as easily.
ALSO, when paypal shuts you down, you don't just "open another account." They BAN you for life. You think you could just do that, but ask Jayce, it doesn't happen. She didn't do anything wrong, someone just put what it was for and they both got their accounts were stopped.
So any money you had in that account will be locked up for at least 6 months and you won't be able to open up another account in your name ever again. True story.
Some people aren't being shady, some people just don't have another choice. Even if I have to start writing checks directly to UMD, I'll do it, but I don't really know what solution I have until then.

Instead of saying "open another account" I should have said "borrow all their friends' Paypal accounts to get paid through." It's obvious what's happening when I'm paying the same person through different Paypal accounts every week.
I don't know what a check from you would be for. But if you want to accept Paypal, you can sell your items on UMD, as long as it goes through our existing store infrastructure. Or if you want to avoid the stores, you could try Paxum or another money transfer service that allows adult, and then you could sell your customs on here all day because it's not against their terms like it is Paypal's. Or you could start accepting good ol' checks and money orders to a PO Box. I'm not trying to get at your customs money. I'm just trying to not have our shit shut down.
When it comes to Paypal, it seems they have given us a very specific, if unexpected, route to prove our legitimacy, by way of inserting Epoch as a buffer / middleman. I'll take it.

I forgot to respond to this. If you model on an existing store, and that store is approved for customs, then you're good. Any user can already contact the store owner to inquire about customs with you (see links below). You and your partners will just have to deal with the money and logistics after the initial contact. If you guys are having problems keeping up with responding to your inbox requests, you could think of maybe spinning off a joint account you can both run or something. Or you could just start your own store and put some stuff in it and do your own thang.
Either way I want to make clear that the UMD store requirement is only to establish an entity on which we can compile ratings, reviews, and example content for our community to use. Paypal aside, you're not required to actually use the store to sell your customs! The Private Sale option is only there if for you want to use it.
Okay, I guess I was confused. What I meant by "write a check to UMD" was thinking that I needed to give 30% of the custom fee to UMD and was saying that I'd gladly pay it if I had to. But now I understand.
I also didn't mean to sound like a dick if by mentioning that you can't open another paypal account, it was just more of a cautionary tale that if you screw with Paypal, they'll make sure you can't come back. And yes, I'm sure it gets very confusing having to pay out to different paypal accounts every other week.
I'm going to have to make this sticky a while longer and ask that you models and producers take this seriously. I've just removed a number of producers' Customs Producer status, due to them continuing to accept Paypal directly, when I made it painfully clear this was not OK. These producers are no longer allowed to initiate or negotiate business for customs here, so that is why some are gone from the list: https://umd.net/stores/customs
This has been policy since an incident in November ( https://umd.net/forums/paxum ) but it was naive for me to think that people who were willing to get over on Paypal wouldn't continue to try to get past UMD's rules, too.

MM
Part of the problem is some customers insist on paying via paypal only. I've turned away several people recently who weren't willing to use any other form of payment. For some models who are desperate for the extra income they may feel like they have to use it. I'm not saying that makes it ok but it would be nice if the people buying custom videos understood how serious this issue is and were willing to consider other payment methods. I hope all members of this site and not just models & producers end up reading this too.
I don't see a paypal policy in this warning or description.. but i do see this line, "Contact an owner to initiate negotiations on the screenplay, content, pricing, and delivery (selling of the material of itself on this site is not mandatory).",which tells me that i may pay for a custom any way I choose by means of delivery. Weather by check, money order, paypal, stamps......

The rule isn't binding on regular users; You shouldn't have to worry about whether a producer is allowed to be doing this and that. The onus is on the models and producers and me, to make sure we are not shooting ourselves in the foot by doing business the wrong way.
