So, I have recently been made redundant from my job and had to make a decision about whether to give up a rather expensive hobby and try and find a new job, or try and make a go of making WAM videos as a full time career.
After much thought....I have decided on the latter.I want to at least try and see if I can make a living from something I get huge enjoyment from.
In order to give myself the best possibility of success, and now that I finally have some time, I've been looking at how I can give the best value and the best experience to everyone who has bought from me and to that end, I have made some changes.
I thought I would update you all about those changes in case they were causing any confusion.
I can't thank Messmaster enough for his amazing help and support through this process. The exciting new look and feel of my store is all thanks to his genius, and his support, advice and patience have all been invaluable.
So here are the key changes
1) I have merged my three stores together. There are no longer 3 separate stores for my content...I have 'folded' the content of the vintage 'Mansion Of Mess', and the non-nude 'Fully Clothed WAM' stores into the Slymsford's Sploshers store. This means less faffing around..all my content is in one place (neatly separated into separate categories tho..so if you only liked clothed wam, for example, it's still easy to find).. It also means that when looking to take advantage of Buy ? Get 1 Free, you don't get frustrated because the other scenes you'd like are in a different store.
2) Speaking of that..well you know how it was always Buy 3 Get 1 Free on Slymsford's Sploshers...well it's now Buy 2 Get 1 Free!! So when you buy a clip, if you find just one more you like from the 200+ scenes on there, you can then get another one free. I know times are tough at the mo, so thi is another way I can hopefully give even better value to my loyal customers.
3) Subscriptions: Merging my stores into one, means I can now offer amazing value on subscription packages. The SS Plus package which gives you access to all my scenes more than 3 months old, for example, means you can stream 170 scenes for only $20 per month on the 3 month subscription deal, with new scenes added every single week. Now I can offer the value I always wanted to on my subscriptions....so please do check them out.
4) Customs: I hope to be able to make many more customs for you too. I will now be shooting in a proper WAM studio with access to a gunge tank and possibly more additions in the future. I will make sure I post about which models are visiting next, so if you fancy a custom, which can be surprisingly affordable, then drop me a message.
5) Exciting new scenes: I already have content shot with Belle, Maria, Cherry, Faye Taylor, Honour May, Liz Rainbow, Pandora Blake, Messy_Miss Michelle and more. There will also be exclusive new content being produced for me by Kaydens, to complement her vintage work already on sale through my store. Please see below for some sneak preview pics of upcoming scenes
So this is my roll of the dice. I am hoping these changes and improvements (and some others, which will stay under the bonnet for now) will mean that SS is viable and has a future. If not..I will know I have given it my very best shot.
I hope you'll check out the snazzy new-look store
Thank-you all for all your support in the past, and onwards into the future.
Here are the preview pics from upcoming scene to keep this all on topic
I hope this works out for you, I truly do. But my producers (Jordana Leigh and Hannah Perez) have both told me that almost no one buys the WAM movies I commission. And my idea of a WAM video is very similar to yours, as you know.
Rich and Jayce and others have gone on record saying that WAM producing is not a money maker at all. They are lucky to break even. Some videos are profitable, but I don't think it is enough to live off of.
I do believe that most (if not all) of our producers have a day job.

Maybe PM some producers and get their opinion?
Hi Bozo
Thanks for your concern. Please be reassured that I haven't gone into this blind. I've done a lot of research and planning and talked to a lot of producers and have worked out a business plan..
None of which is to say that it will succeed..but I absolutely wouldn't be taking it on if I didn't think it had a good chance of success.
My best wishes!!! As Bozo said, your thoughts about wam are in the same page as ours...
My advise is to improve the pie recipe you use (even you use several...). The way I see it, "Walking the plank" and Mostwam pies are the best by far around... sticky... shiny.... colorful...
I really wish your success... your success, our happiness!!!
All the best, Rev. I think it is do-able - no full time wammer is ever going to be a millionaire but with your methods and vision I am sure a living is possible and I'll do everything I can to back you up
I think you've done the right thing and I wish you every success with it.
It's not easy to make money out of it. But there are plenty of messy pounds and dollars out there. The way people spend it is different to 10 years ago. Most producers are stuck in a moribund business model, presently, but there is another way open to those who dare take the initial risk: studio based fast turnaround customs, streaming and high, economically efficient output. There are some very financially successful producers out there following this new model. You and I know who they are, Rev. As far as I can see it basically won't work unless you do it full time and there aren't too many other people doing it.
Good luck! I am sure that this was not an easy and overnight decision. It won't get you rich, as most of you know but if you play your cards right, you should be able to make a living out of it. In my opinion, there is nothing better than making a decent living by doing every day what you love most. Then you are far richer than when you have a pile of cash.
I'm going through a similar life choice at the moment and my reasoning is that I want to be sat in the retirement home knowing I tried something rather than thinking 'I wish I tried' so good luck in your endeavours.

PS if anyone remembers the BBC TV programme 'Waiting for God' I want to be Basil when I grow up!!!
Just to say a huge huge thank-you to everyone who has posted encouragement on this thread so far, and everyone who has DM-d me.
If I replied to each of you individually here, Messmaster would rightly have me thrown off for spam..but every single one of you, thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement (and to those of you planning to post..don't feel you can't..I'll welcome every bit of encouragement and enthusiasm I get here)
You are all wonderful..I've met several of you personally and right from the day in March 2015 when I decided I was going to do something I really wanted, and try making WAM films, you've been nothing but helpful and amazing.
Congratulations and go for it! That's a brave but brilliant decision to take, and all of us really hope it works out for you. Love the combined store idea too.
All the best of luck to you in your bold new venture, Rev. From everything I've seen here at the UMD, you are a great person as well as a great producer, so you truly deserve success in your dream job!
I really and truly hope you can make this work. Finding work that truly makes you feel alive and provides you with meaning and fulfillment is it's own payout!
"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Confucius
I wish you the best of luck with this new WAM endeavor Rev. As a someone who has a large portion of your back catalog you can count on me to help make this a success. Judging by the preview pics of the upcoming scenes my credit card is going to be getting a work out
I hope that this new adventure will include a return trip to the MostWAM studios to shoot another restaurant scene and another scene with Charlotte getting the mes Rev style. Your scripts/setups and the Charlotte's reactions combined with the obscene amount of mess that MostWAM uses was amazing. I do hope that another collaboration happens at some point.
I love your models and your shoots, and as I have said, I think you are by far the most exciting "new" producer. If you object to new, I'm working with a reference to Messygirl, who I love, and whose site has been established for some time.
This sounds wonderful!
The only thing I worry about is if you decide to go all-streaming and only streaming.
I've never been on a streaming site, because I like to hang on to things for the future.
But I'm exciting to see you take this on. I'll contribute in my own small ways to keeping it thriving.

I want to add some context to these notes of doom and gloom about the WAM market. I'm not saying anyone's getting filthy rich off of WAM, but I don't think the picture is as bad as you paint it here, Bozo.
First of all, regarding Hannah's and Jordana's WAM videos not selling. I've looked at these videos every time you post them -- because most of them look great to me -- but they're usually $20, and they are never less than $15. And unlike virtually all of the big WAM producers, these models never have any kind of sales or buy-2-get-1-free type promotions on them either.
I realize that you probably pay at least several hundred dollars apiece for these custom videos, Bozo, so you must view $20 per video as small potatoes, but to me and a lot of other folks here, $20 is a lot to pay for one video. Most big producers here offer most of their content at well below that price level, and many of them fairly regularly offer some form of special deals as well. MostWam and RevSlymsford even have semi-permanent buy-2-get-1-free deals in place in their UMD stores. (And if the regular UMD producers DO put out a $20 video, it is usually a BIG production, like the Rev/MostWam collab 9-girl pie fight or PieZone's elaborate gameshow videos.)
Obviously, there's not as much profit for producers when they offer special deals, but I assume the theory behind them is the increased volume of sales they generate makes up for it. Speaking for myself (a WAM fan who has bought, at minimum, 900 WAM videos over the past decade-plus), I can say that I buy BIG during the promotions, and fairly little when things aren't on sale. I feel fortunate that one of my very favorite producers, MostWam, started using an ongoing B2G1F offer just as they began to blossom into their best and most productive era ever, i.e. the current one. (I should also note that I have supported some producers who never put stuff on sale because of the excellence of their content and their generally reasonable regular pricing (e.g. Mrs. Bee, PieJinx/PiesNextDoor, PieFunProductions, Blue Leopard).
As for Rich and Jayce saying there's no money in WAM, you have to take that with several grains of salt. I'm sure they are exaggerating here, something we know they are both prone to do (usually for humorous effect). How do I know this? Well, I don't know it for a certainty, but I do read between the lines and note other comments that they both have also made that tell a rather different story.
For a period of about four years, Rich did a lot of public grousing about how he was making less and less money with his videos. Happily, he's lightened up on this quite a bit in the last 6-7 months. But before that, he made a lot of comments like "I'm not running a charity here" and "When the videos stop turning a profit, I'll stop making them (which, at the rate things are going, should be in about 6 months)." And yet he kept on going ... and going .... and going... Energizer-bunny-style. He's also made comments in the last year or two that he now has to crank out more videos than he did in years past to generate the same level of income that he's enjoyed for years. Which indicates his profit margins are on the decline, but that he's still making money at this. Remember, he earned enough to put a downpayment on a house in his first few years, and he's clearly at least been meeting his mortgage payments ever since, so I don't think he's come close to zeroing out on SlapstickStuff income.
Don't forget that Rich also has a massive back catalog (as do, to a somewhat lesser extent, Jayce and the Rev) and that he's said that every time he puts out a new video, even if he doesn't make a lot of money on the new work, the publicity generated by the new video also helps generate sales of his older videos.
As for Jayce, she's said on here many times that this is her only form of income, the only means she has of supporting herself and her child. So if she really was struggling just to break even on her WAM videos (i.e. the income she got from them only just covered the costs of the costumes, messy substances, and the wages of her camera guy), she'd be forced to seek out some other line of work. I'm not by ANY means suggesting that every WAM video Jayce shoots turns a profit or that she is financially well off doing this, but overall, it sure seems like she's at least generating enough income to maintain a household and raise a child with it. That is, she's at least earning a meager living via WAM. Now, obviously this beautiful, insanely enthusiastic woman deserves more than a meager living for what she gives this community, but her economic reality seems closer to something like: it covers the bills but leaves little or nothing left over beyond that.
I don't speak for Rich or Jayce, obviously. These remarks are just based on various comments they've made on the forum. If I've gotten things terribly wrong in either case, then Rich and/or Jayce are free to slap me down and set the record straight.
My point here is that the WAM market isn't as bleak as some people keep insisting it is. It actually does support a small number of producers who don't have other jobs. And although they are very few and far-between, I really hope the good Reverend becomes the next one of these. Again, best of luck, Rev!
