"New admin and updates on privacy and blocking"

Happy Friday everybody!! 
The UMD has always been made more peaceful and more organized by people who alert me to things that need attention. Over the years, some have helped out so much that I've asked them if they'd let me give them some admin abilities, no obligation of course.
Our current admin Booth, Bosunbob, Mhop, MikeNomic, PennyBanks, Richard Trouso, Soundguy, Yamtree, as well as our group hosts have all been active for years, helping to keep things chill. Now I'm humbled to announce that Cinq and Soug, and Wamchantelle have jointed the team!
They all have the ability to see UMD's chat logs, move forum posts, fix inappropriate gender tags, and a few other things. But most of all, their role is to remind us how to respect each other and keep up the fun vibe, not just shout rules at everybody and quote the TOS. It'll still be my role to be bad guy and yell at somoene or kick them off if need be
To keep everybody on the same page on the role of our admin, there is a section on our TOS called admin guidelines. You can see all of UMD's admin on the People page.
Even with admin helping out, it's important for you to know that you have direct control over who contacts you here. Our site-wide chat is very active and thousands of DM's fly back and forth all day. If you have it enabled, you will appear on its Who's Online list, and people may frequently attempt to chat with you. If this annoys you, please disable the chat bar or change your chat preferences to "friends-only."
You can also block individual users from the chat, or from inboxing/commenting, or filter them from the forum/wall. And now you can see and edit all three of those block lists in one place, on your preferences. That Wall filter is new, and now you can block people's posts right from the wall using the little text link.
Another existing privacy setting lets you clearly display your intent to people just before they inbox you (e.g. that you don't discuss personal details). Now UMD will also display those same reminders to people just before they friend request you.
Once again thanks again to Cinqgirlracer, Sougoula, Wamchantelle, and the rest of the admin for all your help. Couldn't do this without you. And have a fun, safe weekend everybody

This wall filter is amazing!!! I have never seen this used in a forum before and LOVE the idea. It will definitely help with there are disagreements with people to be able to block the forum posts of a user so that they can continue enjoying the site. More admins is always nice cause it makes your load easier. Thanks admins!!!

Although we are given the ability to do things on the forum as part of the admin team. Everyone here is responsible for making the UMD a welcoming and safe place for all users. I know I (Cinq) started a thread about female wammers the issues raised there are just as applicable to men on the forum.
We both look forward to being part of a great team of admins and community and leave the bag guy work to Messmaster

Well what can I say other than thank you MM For the opportunity to contribute now in a different way from what I've been doing here in the past.
This is definitely your way to give back to the forum and hopefully be a part of it still for many years to come
I'm not one for a big speech but I'm definitely looking forward to my new role here and hopefully helping out Behind the scenes And contribute to a site that has given me so many opportunities over the years

This is brilliant news, very well deserved by Chantelle, Cinq, and Soug. It has to be said MM has built a truly awesome community here and the choice of mods is very much part of that. So congrats to the new additions.

Congratulations to the new admins. You have a lot to live up to. It is not the length of time you have been on here, it is the sort of person you are.
I have always found MM to be fair and approachable. He is not always right, but is keen to acknowledge that, which is worth a great deal. I did worry at one point that the workload might just make him throw the whole thing in the air and say "Bolcks to the lot of you." Support from all of us is important and particularly so from the admin team.
Keep doing what you're doing MM and we will support you.

I always try to be totally respectful!
Sometimes it's easy to get carried away!

One of the most integrity-having mofos I've ever met. He "gets" the overall ethos of UMD and will continue to be a force for good. Plus, he has really cool long hair, and is the only one to have bought me an amazing bottle of whiskey. Here's to you man!
