Totally agree! I see some stuff and it's like..."Oh man I'd never wear that, it looks ridiculous!"
I'm interested now. Which of these costumes are the worst?
TheSpecialist said: -A lot of "sexy" costumes just look weird and ugly. Even if WAM videos are for the male gaze, I think a lot of producers would do well to outsource wardrobe opinions to those more familiar with the female form.
Agreed. And many "sexy fancy dress" costumes are made of materials that don't really show wetness very well, and dont even drape nicely when dry. Right from the start I always gave my models a veto over anything they hated, outfit wise, and now I often let them chose from the collection themselves.
TheSpecialist saidanty filling...kinda pointless. I love clothes filling, but most panty filling beats are like trying to fill a shot glass with a fire hose.
LOL re fire hose! And know exactly what you mean, tiny panties that get completely overwhelmed at first pour. Whenever we do underwear filling, the girls are either in swimsuits, or full cut high waist spandex panties, which can actually accept a reasonable amount of gloop before they start to leak badly, and produce the kind of feelings @Justine mentions in her reply.

I think it comes down to which mainstream content got you into this. For example, if you like those kinds of "how dare you?" comeuppance scenarios, you probably started off with movie/TV comedy content. Those of us who like more genuine (seeming), less scripted content come from game shows.
That's fair enough. The first time I ever became aware of a "feelings" reaction to someone getting messy was a comedy skit from the late 70s where one character has their trousers filled with various messy foodstuffs, and as I was watching it I became aware of a reaction, and that I really wanted someone to do the same thing to me.

Agreed. Messy swimsuit filling is valid, as is wearing swimsuits (especially more clothes-like ones) in the mud. But wetlook should involve clothing not intended for getting wet in.
I'd also suggest that naked in the water is not wetlook, it's just swimming, though I can understand why its allowed in the wetlook forum. But to me nude isn't wetlook.

How about B&Q 400W halogen floodlamps? My objective is to be able to see all the detail, especially seep-through and leak-through, from clothes filling, and in general as clothes are messed up, and that needs plenty of light. Guess will have to switch to LEDs eventually but I did buy enough spare bulbs to keep the current lamps going for years to come, plus the heat they generate is a welcome extra in the dungeon. When we do switch to LEDs we'll need to add a third 2kW heater to make up the difference.

Please, for the love of God, ask your models what they like to wear or at least coordinate with someone who worked wardrobe for a drama/theater club. You would be surprised what we guys get wrong.
Agree with pretty much all of those. And yes, our experience is that while nude/sexy scenes do sell (we have a couple of people who actively like being nude/topless, and getting sexy with each other), they don't sell massively more than our mainline fully clothed scenes do.
Trouso said: Sticking to the topic of 'unpopular' opinions: Barefoot WAM (Ugh!) Heels should be the last thing to come off, if at all. WAM should go against the conditioning of not getting your best shoes dirty.
No no, all WAM should start with the participants in wellies. Much better for filling, or keeping their feet clean until they come off and then the clean bare feet get messed up.
Trouso said: Casual clothing. Why?
Because to some of us, it's the pinnacle of sexy. I honestly find a girl in high waist jeans and a crop top, or skin tight running pants and top, much more aluring to look at than the same girl in a formal outfit. TBH I'd always thought my view was the unpopular one, but perhaps not?
Interesting in the context of this thread though, for years people have said in various places they want to see more formal (esp in wetlook), and yet the wetlook producer content available is something like 90% jeans. Is that because almost all wetlook producers seem to expect models to provide their own clothes? I only realised they did that a decade or so back, I've always provided everything our people wear so just assumed other producers did too. Or is it that in reality jeans out-sell everything else because of how good denim looks wet?
manufan001 said: There's nothing worse than someone off camera telling a model how to react. Let them react naturally. Oh, and "look up" is a terrible reaction.
Absolutely, seconded. In fact male producer voice on the soundtrack at all is a total no-no. I think I've mentioned before when a certain former producer utterly ruined the scene he was shooting by abruptly barking a telling-off at the model, on camera, for doing something "wrong", which means it can't even be watched on silent as you can see her very negative facial reaction as he starts berating her.
1. I hate it when models immediately look up and take a face full of slime. I actually prefer that they never look up at all. You can't see facial reactions.
2. Pies. I've never been into the pie in the face thing, but it's really popular, and it often gets mixed in with the slime over the head thing, which kind of somewhat ruins it for me.
3. Braided hair. It's like dipping a rope in slime...also hair done up so tight that it's not doing anything, hair always down. Sometimes a pony tail is okay, but generally the more hair down, the better.

Women's lingerie is SO varied and colorful, (camisoles, bras, panties, etc.) and designed to be visually and sensually (tactile) alluring...why not exploit the visual appeal of white, pink, lavender, blue, red, even green or yellow...with lace or frills (or other feminine touches) to enhance the wam effect? That goes for thongs too; an occasional thong is fine, not all the time, every time.WAM is a 'special event' in my book, so, I always sought to make a video more special with sensual, retro/classic, or fancy lingerie/underwear.
i looooove retro and vintage underwear! looove it! and yes, the black and greys are over used but? It is EXTREMELY hard to purchase a lingerie set for a model and then they show up and they hate the way it looks on themselves or you dont like the way the color looks. if they dont feel comfortable? or you dont like it? its just not as fun!
I also have found that shaving foam is one of the most versatile things to use in wam. There are about 10 things off the top of my head right now you can add to foam or add foam TO that makes an amazing mess that is so rad!
I love playing in foam or my foam mix ups because there is nothing like that tingle on my body and there is nothing like watching a whole can create a tower for you to add to whatever you want, or make whatever you want! its a great add to substance and sometimes? I just love to have a zillion cans and make a giant pile of it and jump in! so fun.

For me, as I've said before, I really don't like the "I don't know" bit and think it needs to be, if not retired, at least given a break for a while
The "I don't know" thing is a little unimaginative, and from the point of view of a Brit who probably wouldn't have heard of YCDTOTV without my WAM interest, I don't really even get it. It doesn't bother me much but I'd praise any producer who tried to come up with their own trigger phrase like DnDfilms tried to do for a while with "drop it".

Its just like someone said above "if i have to see one more dirty bathtub" you have to think....did that person have the means or access to tarp? Did they have the room in their home? maybe not and they are just itching to get messy!
ive done it before! If I only have an hour or so to get messy? daggum right im gonna jump in the rain shower and get messy and then spray it all down the drain!
but yeah....its weird and it has grown over the years but i loathe the look of tarp. but? like i said....once I get in and start playing ? I have a good time and I try to eliminate tarp wherever i can.
Too many clothes, especially bulky, thick or loose clothing. I want to see the female form under the mess and through thin or clingy clothing plastered to her body.
Hair tied up or under a cap, and/or goggles. The idea is to get messy, not stay un-messed.
As many of you know, blurry or poorly lit videos annoy the hell out of me.
Wasted mess annoys me. Picture a young woman who is being wammed, and a large, thick mess has formed on the floor all around her. I keep waiting for her to get down and roll around in it, but it nearly never happens. To me, it's a wasted opportunity for more wamming.
One I've not mentioned. There are some very beautiful models out there, but there are some 'models' who are clearly not pretty and often not in shape at all. If someone who isn't model-material wants to wam and sell videos, that's great, but please stop referring to them as 'models'. There are some larger models and I'm not referring to them, as they are still nice to look at, have hair and makup in order, etc. I'm referring to the really out-of-shape, no makeup, no attention to hair or even smiling or having any expression at all being referred to as 'models'. Models generally should be attractive. Again, the 'ordinary girl next door' can still do wam videos, but without the 'model' title to mislead the potential purchaser. (women everywhere will now probably hate me)
Loose, thin plastic that is not secured. I don't know how many times a producer has attempted to keep an inflatable pool clean by putting thin, cheap plastic down, then shooting a wam scene, but the plastic gets pulled in and bunches up in the mess. It's a plastic pool, just hose it out! If you must use plastic sheeting, buy the thick stuff and tape it so it won't come undone during a session.
I know we each have different preferences, but when I see a title 'Girl pied in her bikini' then the screen caps show her from the neck up, what's the point? Some of us like to see messy skin, and not just a messy face. Some producers offer different views so purchasers can see what they want.
Same old stuff. I'm told it's done because it sells, but if I see yet another pie video with pie after pie hitting a woman's face, it will be one too many. Same with the tank of slime over the victim's head, and they sit in a chair. Same old tired idea being repeated and repeated. There are other things that can be done that people would likely love to see.
Unorganized/poor planning in a video. I see videos with 7 or 8 models standing around while they discuss which one will be wammed. Often it's totally unorganized, with no apparent direction given to the girls.
Full-body wammings where the model leans forward when the mess starts flowing. The girl is in a chair, leaning back a little. A bucket or other means is employed to dump gunge over her head. I'm waiting to see it run all down the front of her body when . . . she leans forward, so it drips off of her hair to her knees and then to the floor, with everything in between staying clean.
I'm old and cranky, so this thread was probably a bad idea in my case.
manufan001 said: There's nothing worse than someone off camera telling a model how to react. Let them react naturally.
Oh, and "look up" is a terrible reaction.
In defence of "look up" reactions.
A lot of people seem to dislike them because they're unnatural. But the completely natural reaction to being unexpectedly covered in some sort of substance would be to get out of the way of it, cover your face with your hands and try and stay as clean as possible, and nobody wants to see that. So to an extent, we all like to suspend our disbelief and appreciate a bit of showmanship (or showwomanship).
I just see looking up as a development of that showmanship. To say "Ok, I'm getting gunged, so I'm going to play up to the fourth wall a bit, act vulnerable and submissive, and let you see me get it in the face". That's why I like it personally.
On the other hand, it could just be seen as a comical bit of absent-mindedness. "Hmm, where's that gunge coming from? *looks up* Oh, that was a bad idea". A bit like pointing a hosepipe in your face to try and work out why no water is coming out of it.

I guess this is where my unpopular (or at least less mainstream) opinion is I want to see **all** the models in boilersuits, regardless of whether inked or not?
In a pie video, I like to see the face take it but the hair remain relatively clean. I realize how the hair getting pie on it is inevitable, but the longer it stays intact the better. Pie sandwiches very rarely do anything for me. Anything visible that is there to mitigate mess clean up. Models that act like being pied is turning them on.
Trouso said: Sticking to the topic of 'unpopular' opinions:

Shaving foam. No. Does nothing for me. Neither wet nor messy. Aside from the noble art of slosh in its appropriate home on the STAGE, of course.
Casual clothing. Why?
Vibrators/full on sex acts. I like sex but I've never understood the appeal of watching other people having sex or being turned on in photos or on film. It just looks weird.
As someone who has the bulk of their enjoyment come from casual clothing in WAM (namely dresses)- I think for me at least, idk about anyone else, it stems mostly from casual clothing being more prevalent in day to day life.
Especially given how common working from home is, you don't tend to see like, business casual unless you go into the office or something. So you gravitate towards casual clothes because that's what you see more.
I actually think that's what made me more into seeing maxi dresses in WAM. I was very very into seeing evening gowns and wedding dresses getting messed up (my introduction to WAM was the TopGunge Christmas special previews on YouTube), and once I became aware that long casual dresses were not only a thing but were also very popular, I became more into those.
I'm not personally a fan of men giving the pie to a woman's face. I much prefer when the girls are pied by another girl.
I understand it's not as easy to do multiple girl shots for logistical reasons but it's still a massive personal gripe when producers will do a two girl shot and neither girl will mess the other one up
I don't like self-wamming. I am a pie fan and a woman pieing herself does not do it for me. Skirt, nice blouse, nice shoes, etc. easily beats a bikini or nudity in my book
OK. Here is the big one. I was going to start a separate post on it but I don't think it would get any traction. WAM has gotten too extreme. Porn and, this applies to WAM, is kinda like a ratchet. It only goes one way-- up. Once folks get inured to something, they crave something a little more over the top. So, back in the day, a pretty girl getting a nice pie in the face was great for us pie fans, but now? With HD cameras, forums like this one, and more models willing to take this work, that is not enough for a lot of us. We need the model nude now. The humiliation is not enough-- can you have the pie be something gross? What if we tied her up? I think she should be masturbating with a huge dildo while getting pied and covered with condiments. You see? The pie in the face (or the slime over the head, or the mud wrestling in bikinis, etc.) is no longer quite enough to get you there, so the ratchet goes up a notch.
NOT ME. I like the simple stuff and I see it getting buried under the more extreme stuff. I am like that audiophile friend of yours who seeks out rare vinyl LPs regardless of the sound quality. This is why I love mainstream WAM, even though it is pretty disappointing a lot of the time. There is an "innocence" quality to it-- i.e., it is not being made for us here on UMD to get our jollies. And look, I can't blame producers. They have to make what sells and, as that ratchet moves up, the race is on to produce something that satisfies raised expectations of humiliation, mess, hardcore porn, etc.
I pretty much exclusively like sweet food used in wam. I prefer to see the person being wammed enjoy it, and if it's 'gross,' (which to me includes savory, a mouthful of mud, inedible gunge, or a mouthful of shaving foam) doesn't do anything for me.
Also, I love clothes filling, but hate it when it runs right through or collects trapped at the ankle...Kinda in the same vein as Justine's comment, I want the mess to be in the right place to provide a great sensation. If you're going to go through the trouble of using tape, tape it at the thigh so the mess collects at the crotch.
SploshD said: I pretty much exclusively like sweet food used in wam. I prefer to see the person being wammed enjoy it, and if it's 'gross,' (which to me includes savory, a mouthful of mud, inedible gunge, or a mouthful of shaving foam) doesn't do anything for me.
With you on this completely. I think provided it's in the right environment, getting a pie or cake in your face or covered in desserts is actually a nice, indulgent experience and is enjoyable, at least until it starts to smell. Getting covered in things like gravy, mashed potato and ketchup, let alone dog food and fish guts, just sounds unpleasant to me. And if I wouldn't want to do it myself, I can't get off on anyone else doing it.
...coming soon... ::holds a cat:: ...the messiest video ever made... I kid I kid...but when you pick up a cat, you got cat hair all over ya...there's probably someone out there who is into that. Cat hair on clothes fetish.
- Shaving cream on paper plate pies are great and I'd like to see more of them. - 'self pies' do very little for me. It's supposed to something inflicted upon you! - slime/gunge before pies is rubbish and usually compromises the quality of the pie coverage. - Having models pie each other can be good for the overall 'look' of a scene, but is a complete waste of time if they don't have good pieing technique! - savoury/dog food etc. is absolutely disgusting and a complete turn-off.
I'm gonna be that guy. I guess my unpopular opinion is to just enjoy what you enjoy, let others do the same. I really feel this has turned into a "What I hate" post, some with not so subtle jabs at specific producers without naming them.
WAM has so many different facets and tastes, that not everyone will be pleased all the time. There is an insane amount of hate and negativity in society right now, that posts like this just kinda unnecessarily add to it, in my unpopular opinion.
mFeelzGood said: WAM is a waste of money and time. Literally wasteful.
I cannot justify the cost to indulge myself. At least not if I am by myself. Solo wam seems pointless. I can justify spending money watching it because at least it supports producers, models, and independents here who use it to earn or at least make up for their costs. It still feels like I am supporting wastefulness.

Mine is that I vastly prefer unscripted scenes to scripted scenes; I say that because scripted scenes seem to be more popular here. Don't get me wrong, scripted scenes can be well-thought out and fun...but I love when someone is either just ad-libbing or just getting covered in mess without all the extra fluff. I LOVE scenes where it's just like someone placed a camera in the room but there's otherwise no difference, or if someone is naturally playing to the audience (Brattyshortcakes does this extremely well). I don't need an elaborate script or anything. If I can see the wammer in the video is having a blast, that's usually enough for me.
Hmm this is a very interesting forum post to me!!! I am loving all the opinions!!!
While it is always fun to have a scripted story, I much prefer a natural scene where the person is just going to town and we see it all. Over-editing and playing up the sexual side of wam is a turn off for me, if it happens-it happens, if it doesn't nothing should be forced. Forced wam sex is cringe.

See those a lot in selfie / close-up videos, never actually used one. But know the circular reflection you see in someone's eyes when they use one. What's the issue with them for WAM scenes?

Rick Ruben said it best: "If we are aiming to create works that are exceptional, most rules don't apply. Average is nothing to aspire to." - Nudity is overrated. Sex is low hanging fruit. If you enjoy doing it, go for it but doing it because you feel it will sell better is just false on a number of levels. - Don't ask for new producers to be shooting content similar to the stuff you enjoy and then ask them why they don't look like someone else's work. Tre' tacky. - Some of y'all are way too quick to jump right into the mess. Have fun with it! Build a story. The viewer will thank you later - Some of you who mention you shot your scene in a hotel or bathroom? We can tell. Clean that shit! - Food stuff never really rung my bell. It's hella fun to shoot. Tons of creative ways to take it. Just not my "thing". - I gotta second TheSpecialist on the outfits thing.

Absolutely, seconded. In fact male producer voice on the soundtrack at all is a total no-no. I think I've mentioned before when a certain former producer utterly ruined the scene he was shooting by abruptly barking a telling-off at the model, on camera, for doing something "wrong", which means it can't even be watched on silent as you can see her very negative facial reaction as he starts berating her.
hey i have one coming up soon that you will LOVE! I thought about you when we were filming it!!!

If this is the certain former producer I'm thinking of (as in well-known for outdoor mud scenes and will never be back on here), I completely agree. That was something that put me off of his scenes even before everything that followed.
