We are delighted to announce that Messtival is returning and I can't wait to welcome you all back!!

What the fuck is Messtival, I hear you cry? Well, if you didn't already know then you've been living under a rock because it's only the First (and best) WAM Film Festival & Awards Ceremony, back again for another year of chaos after a roaring success at our first event in 2019.
That's right, we're putting on another event to screen your messy and wetlook films - this time, though, it's not just a cinema... We've only gone and gotten an entire bloody theatre to hold it at!
We'll be opening up film submissions and nominations for awards very very soon so get thinking about what you'd like to submit and who you'd like to nominate now. Films will be selected by a panel and awards will be voted for by the WAM community just like before.
Once again we'll have an array of fantastic producers & performers presenting the awards, and you'll be able to mingle with everyone and meet your favourite models both before and afterwards too.
Dress code: Dress to impress, this is an awards show after all! Red carpet/smart/suits/fancy dresses/etc - t-shirts are only acceptable if you bought them from the Messtival merch store (https://www.redbubble.com/people/messtival/shop).

Ginger Johnson is one of my favourite drag queens and I was honoured to be asked to consult on Good Clean Fun along with some other incredible creators & performers from the WAM community, I can't wait to watch the show with you all!
"When a shocking revelation from the past comes back to haunt her, Ginger Johnson is thrown into a world of shame, desire... and instant custard.
It's 2011 and Johnson is working in a baked potato shop in Newcastle and moonlighting as a drag queen in East London. Fuelled by cheesy beans and a thirst for attention, she makes a silly video of herself getting covered in ketchup and posts it on the internet. It gets 15 likes.
Fast forward 10 years and the long-since-forgotten video has found its audience but not quite the one she was expecting.
Good Clean Fun is a sexy, hilarious, messy show for anyone who has ever posted a video of themselves on the internet. It's about finding yourself in unexpected places and making the most out of making a mess."

Firstly Callum, I am sorry that an event we specifically created to try and bring the community together, bring more people to the community and uplift as many in the community as possible has left anyone feeling negative about themselves or their place in the scene. That is the polar opposite of our intentions.
This year, as with the previous event, the initial round of nominations will be open to the entire community, so anybody can nominate as many models/studios as they like - they can even nominate themselves (we encourage this). We will then be employing an 'opt-in' system for nominees who make it to the short list for voting. In the spirit of consent, this ensures that only those who actively WANT to be included in the eventual ceremony will be. So please don't feel like you'll be included in this process against your will.
To the general point of not feeling like certain producers get much recognition, we have been working on diversifiying the award categories to shine light on as many aspects of our vibrant scene as possible. We even have categories planned for exactly your type of studio - which you'd almost have been guaranteed at least one nomination in, and would stand a very good chance of winning.
Above all, mental health always comes first, so please take whatever steps necessary to avoid being triggered by our event. We will be ensuring all posts relating to the event will have "MESSTIVAL" in the title, so it will be easy for anybody who feels affected by the results to avoid seeing or interacting with the details. The date was also included in the original post, if you do feel the need to avoid the internet that day.

Solidarity with you on struggling with a disability, all three of us organisers have a neurodevelopmental condition amongst various other things (hoping I finally get a diagnosis for the chronic physical issues that have left me unable to do sessions at the moment as I'm desperate for answers) and being self employed doesn't make it any easier as I'm sure you know! And thanks for the nomination offer but I've always been awkward with getting awards anyway (and I quite like playing the underdog). I got one once in front of Fred Dinage and a very young Holly Willoughby and my god it was such an awkward experience for me (obviously not wam related)

If it's nothing personal towards us, a gesture of goodwill, I would appreciate it if you'd consider changing the title of your latest thread so that it doesn't (tongue in cheek or otherwise) directly reference our event in a derogatory way.
If your thread is indeed intended to be the positive thing I believe you meant it to be, I'm sure you can see how that inflammatory choice rather undermines the positive tone, and doesn't adequately convey to others who are seeking positivity that your thread is a safe place for them.
Whether an aspect of your work triggered me for some reason, or simply didn't appeal to me on aesthetic grounds, I'd never dream of derailing your efforts by placing a thread right alongside yours that told you to shove your work up your arse.
I hope this is just a little tone-deaf blip that we can move on from, and not the beginnings of the next epic UMD drama - and that we can continue to be supportive of eachother in the spirit that Messtival was born.

Incredible this is happening again, it was so joyful and sweet last time and lord knows the world needs joy right now 
Gutted, but I'm gonna have to sadly bow out of any helping or presenting etc though due to having an absolute nightmare of a time at the moment and being very much needed at home with my with disabled daughter who now has a nasty physical injury too after an accident last week - this unfortunately looks like being an extended period of time and definitely would clash with the date. Ugh, I'm so sorry.
If any of the organisers can think of something I can do from home though, do let me know and I'll see what I can do

The theatre is very very close to Caledonian Road station, which is on the Piccadilly line. Kings Cross/St Pancras is just one stop away, and it's two stops from Euston (with one change). If you're coming into London via Waterloo, it's only a 15-20 minute journey with one change. Paddington, two changes, but still only about 20-25 mins.
So it's a very accessibly located venue for travellers coming from outside London via any of the major interchanges.
