A report from the front line of the Messtival awards
I just wanted to write my thoughts around the Messtival awards yesterday.
Firstly, a huge huge thank-you to everyone who nominated me in multiple categories, and to everyone who voted (at all, as participation made the awards very special) and special thanks to anyone who voted for my work.
For Slymsford's Sploshers films to win two awards in their own right, and a further two jointly with Mostwam was literally beyond my wildest dreams. Wow!!
Like Candy I had a few notes prepared but unlike Candy I was quite prepared to read them all..but like in the Oscars, I was getting the clear signal that short and sweet was the order of the day .
So the main thing I wanted to say was that every film I make is not 'my film' but rather a huge collaboration.
'Honour May Self-Wams, Wanks and is covered in cum' was a custom written by *redacted*, it was filmed at the residence of, and with the huge support of Candy Custard and Henry Wilcox, the latter of whom also cameo-d in it as the off-screen butler. The second camera was by Rod Whitestar and amazing continuity support, prop throwing and assistance provided by Mr Moe. Honour May's performance was amazing and really turned this into a great scene. All I did was turn up and point a camera.
The Messy Telethon which won best F/F film was again a custom written by *redacted*, Axa Jay and the legendary Louise Lee were just superb, and all the above support network again helped make this film.
and as for the Epic 9 Girl Piefight scene (which won best group scene and best non-adult scene): It could never have been made without the kind invitation of Leon & Lisa, the amazing camerawork was all done by Almost Wam, and the cast were superb. Though I did at least write this one!
So I wanted to thank everyone involved in those films. This award is as much for you as me (though I am keeping the trophy!)
Also, I have to thank Penny Banks, Slippery Skin, CK and the whole team for putting on an amazing event yesterday. It was a total triumph and aside from the films, and the awards, it was just lovely catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.
Six years ago I was really struggling with life, in an unhappy marriage, with a job I hated and really thinking 'I have wasted my life'
In 6 years this community has welcomed me in, encouraged me, led me to start filmmaking part-time, then to go full-time and now to have these fecking amazing trophies on my mantelpiece (and they are up already!) is just incredible and even though I am fast approaching 50, I have never felt happier than this at any time in my life, so I want to thank every single person who has really helped along the way (not least the amazing Mrs Rev).
As actions speak louder than words, I am going to reduce the price of each of the three winning scenes by one third until Saturday evening as a special thank-you.

Thanks so much Jayce. That means a *huge* amount coming from you.
I was cheering really loud (as was everybody) when your nomination came up
Glad you like my mongrel half English / half Irish accent
Congrats Rev! And congrats tonall all winners! We are so sad that it wasn't possible for us to come over for the Messtival. I hear that everybody had a great time!
Rev, I'd just like to remind you that a few years ago you were worried about speaking to me at a meet as I was "A Producer" and you were a mere insignificant mortal! Then I got the messages from you asking for advice about what models to work with....now you're going round taking over the world and beating me to awards! I have just one thing to say to you.....
You jammy (sloppy, custardy, porridgey, gungey, messy, slimy, saucey *insert any other messy thing you wish here as long as it ends in a "y") Bugger!
AL MostWam said: Hey Rev, Lovely to see you and catch up. Well done on all your awards. You produce a lot and deserve the recognition (as does everyone else who won)
Thanks for the credit for the pie scene, working with you was good fun and an experience for us all, the filming of such a big scene was great pleasure, tho editing was a little tedious still good fun. Its good to see it done well and people enjoyed it and it won the two awards also!
I wont go on to long as i'll post on the other thread, but what a great event, a chance to chat to some new faces and some familiar, and watch other producers media and have a laugh along the way, it was well put on and well done to penny and team... looking forward to what next time brings and hopefully see some faces again before then
and just because people mispronounce your name try not start a trend on them mispronouncing mine its AL- Mostwam
keep up with the great accents
Thanks so much Al. It was indeed a wonderful expereicne working with you and all the team and seeing the different ways people work and create.
Apologies re the 'Almost WAM' thing. When I saw your UMD monicker it just read that way in my head, and it stuck. I just love singing the Howard's Way theme ('Always There') with the revised lyric of "Almost WAM, & the Moomins, Almost WAM".

Thanks so much Cleo. I loved the film you submitted, and your lovely introductory message. In case no-one has said anything, your film was really well received

Well done
I remember it so well. It was March 2014. I had just decided I wanted to make content and had booked Jessie, & Maria Mypierogative and then at a splunch I met Kitten and booked her too. At that splunch everyone kept saying 'Go over and speak to Bob, he'll give you advice and he's really friendly" but I just couldn't do it, as I was a big fan of your work and just would have felt like a fraud.
Worth calling out how much free advice you have given me since then, always happy to support and help..many many thanks for that. You even forgave me when I almost killed you when you came to my home studio, which goes a long way
Congratulations and so lovely to present you the award huge huge apologies for pronouncing your store name wrong please don't hate me, I was absolutely petrified presenting for the first time in my life, in fact public speaking for the first time ever haha.

Anyway a very well deserved pile of awards xx
Thanks. I really really hope I didn't make you feel bad. It is more my standing joke with myself that I gave my store a name that is a) not spelled the simplest way to make it apparent how to pronounce it (ie Slimesford) and b) even when you know how to pronounce it, it's a real tongue twister
I just find it hilarious and an in joke with myself about how I picked such a stupid name.
I remember when Messyworld did a parody video a while back and managed to fit every top producer's name into a pastiche dialogue..everyone except me. They sent me a lovely message saying they were sorry but there was no way to fit it into a sentence.
It was so lovely meeting you, and again, I really hope my attempt at self-deprecation didn't come across the wrong way.
I just wanted to add to my bit and say well done to absolutely EVERYONE! It was such a great event! So well run, so glitzy & glamorous and so much fun! (Also, really happy that it was LGBT+ friendly!)
Congrats to the winners; props to those who entered material, and; well done to @PennyBanks, CK (If he's still alive!) and the tech crew!
It was so nice to meet people and so much fun that I think I may even see if I could submit an entry!
(I don't post on here much, I'm more FetLife (@naughtyjim][https://fetlife.com/users/55375] - I have done a few splunches, etc so if you recognise me and want to say hello, then please do!)
Rev - its been an absolute pleasure to work second camera for you and be able to do a small part to help you win these awards.
It is however, a little unnerving when I find how closely our sense of humour and our love of puns matches!
You do win in the accents stakes through as I know it was very difficult not to shake the second camera when laughing (Axa's and Louise's responses were also funny too!) and I did have to put it down at one point during the telethon as I was laughing so much. Thankfully your No1 Camera was a tripod so I don't think it affected the film!
I will also say again (as its on Candy's thread) a massive thank you to the Mesttival team. An excellent job done by all
