Those pics are dated 1963 and the guy is John Ashley. The only film they made together was Beach Party in 1963 and there is no pool scene in that movie, only the famous pie fight, where Eva was pied - see pics attached.
As there were no pool scenes in that film, then they probably came from a wrap party they held after completing the film.
I have similar pics of Debbie Reynolds thrown in the pool in a formal dress that do not come from any movie she made, but appear to be from a private Hollywood party.
The Beach Party movie holds a special spot in the history of my Pie-Sexuality. I was going out with a girl who had a Rubber/Leather/PVC fetish just like me. Eventually she wanted me to meet her mom who was very much into Leather. I thought I would make a great impression by dressing in all Leather, and I did. Her mother really liked me and I found her to be a real pleasure to be around. For 2 years she helped us to buy a lot of clothes and loved the outfits that we bought. She would use her credit card to buy the clothes and of course we would pay her back. After a couple of years I finally came out of the "Pie Closet" with my girlfriend and long story short, eventually her mother became aware of my Pie Fetish. To my big surprise, not only was she understanding and supportive of my Pie Fetish, she wanted to take part! Long story short again... One day I took a road trip with my girlfriend's mother who was in search of a fancy PVC Raincoat. On the drive she asked me a lot of questions and we had a honest heart to heart conversation that was a real bonding moment. (Here's how this all ties into the post) She told me that the day that she met me, it took her back to her teenage years and that the entire time we were talking she was thinking about what I would look like getting hit in the face with Pies. She said when she was a teenager she really liked the PIE fight scene in the Beach Party movie, and she loved the visual of the biker gang guys in their shiny black Leather getting hit with Pies. She said that she did enjoy the physical act of hitting me in the face with a Cream Pie because it felt like she was getting away with doing something she wasn't supposed to do but the thing she loved most was the visual of it all. She loved the look of my face covered with Cream Pie and the drip and splatter on my shiny outfit. She remarked about the irony, that all this time I had been too afraid to say anything about my secret fetish of dressing up and and having Pies thrown in my face and she had been thinking about what I would look like being hit with Pies...... Both of us thinking along the same lines and yet neither one of us knew what the other was thinking. She even told me that on my 20th birthday party when I wore the Red Rubber suit that she helped me get through the mail for my birthday, that she was so tempted to shove my face down in the birthday cake. I admitted to her that when she brought the cake out, that I was hoping deep down inside that she would just nail me right in the face with it. She just laughed and said if we only knew back then what we know now. And to think it all started with a silly Beach Party movie in the 60's for me and a album cover for Herb Albert for you.

Interesting. That newspaper clip claims the pool scene is from Beach Party, yet there are no pool party scenes in the film. I googled whether there were any deleted scenes from the film and Google AI says there were no deleted scenes from that film, and the only cuts were some bits of dialogue where the motorcycle gangs were talking about drugs and were seen to be smoking weed, and of course the most horrific sight of all, Annette's belly button, which Walt Disney contacted the direct William Asher (Elizabeth Montgomery's hubby) and demanded that they redesign Annette swimsuit to cover up her belly button.
Apparently Walt felt that the sight of her belly button would destroy her career.....oh the humanity.

So, the pool scene remains a mystery ...
It's one infuriating piece of copywriting, a bit clipped - probably in order to shorten the sentence for the sake brevity and the layout. (Typical of WAM related print media never intended to be more than a fleeting piece of ephemera )
I think the meaning is intended to be "at a recent party [the two stars in attendance performed] a torrid dance [featured in the film] 'Beach Party' [both ended up in the pool]"
