There are a couple scenes of Samantha Eggar ruining dresses in this musical. She storms away from the Doctor, singing about what she would do if she were a man while walking through a stream and ripping her dress while stepping over a fallen tree. The song is called "At The Crossroads." (about 45 minutes in)
In another brief scene, the main characters are on a boat, and Samantha is scrubbing the deck while wearing a puffy white and green dress. You'd have to watch the film to find this. (about 1 hour and 46 minutes in)
Wow......l never watch This Movie as a kid.....Mostly because l got Scared of that giant snail. But anyway...... I got to say any 1960s movies set in Victorian era are so amazing. Just watching that scene. My imagination replaced the water with mud. Sorry. I'm going to have to watch it now
Wasn't there a beach scene in more scantily underwear type clothing too? I loved this one as well. Fond memory: the very first time my mum took me to the cinema for an evening show .
In my opinion. I always think that old movies were made better. The sheer scale, set pieces, costumes etc. was just amazing. And there just a certain something about them that I think is far better than a modern film.
The old musicals just can't be beat the same as an old western. They just flowed better, even the slapstick was better. Now a days its all big budget cgi, make it as twisting turning need a PhD to figure out.
You don't need streams of bad language, blood and guts and sex, just good old entertainment.
Don't get me wrong, some films are very clever. im not oppose to bad language. Blood and guts and sex, but I feel the old Hollywood sparkle is missed now.
Modern day effects are far superior, looking a giant snail and pull-me push you now looks very unrealistic, but it doesn't spoil the film at all, and at the time, it was rather ground breaking.
A modern day remake of an old movies will never be as good (ala Ben-Hur)
