Many of you will have seen the thread I posted last month about this month marking three years of Slymsford's Sploshers and that to do something very special to mark the occasion, I got in touch with the lovely Leon and Lisa to see if they would be interested in a special shoot that would marry the Slymsford's style of WAM scenes...with story led scenes, plenty of build-up and then loads of gloating and laughter from those watching the actual wamming; with the amazing sets and pies of MOSTWAM. They said 'Yes..lets do it' and it was decided that on March 28th 3 Slymsford's Girls would make their way to the MOST WAM studios to join the MOSTWAM girls for this special shoot.
So here's what happened....
On March 27th, the day beforehand, very nervous but also really excited, I made my way towards MOSTWAM headquarters. I arrived 40 minutes late due to getting confused about which station to change trains at, but Lisa was really understanding, and after a brief tour of their lovely town, she whisked me off to the studio, where I met Al-most WAM, the Moomins' incredibly talented camera guy.
Together we went through the scenes we were going to shoot. We had an episode of my Messy Office series, the longest WAM soap opera ever. I've been writing Messy Office stories for 8 years now, and in this very special episode, other businesses have heard about how successful our office is, with employees arriving promptly and behaving well.. and another local firm wants to know what the secret is. The Messy Office girls decide they will be only too happy to tell them...and to give them a practical demonstration of 'the treatment' .
I should say something about the cast here...the plan was to have 3 Slymsford cast members. Originally it was to be Satine, Messy_Miss Michelle and Cherry. However Cherry had to pull out about a month beforehand, so we brought in Tindra to replace her. However Tindra was unwell on the day of the shoot...so it was Michelle and Satine from Slymsford's, and Lisa, Charlotte, Skye and Casey from Mostwam in this scene.
We also decided we wanted to do 2 episodes of gungetank girls...in each episode a Slymsford girl would play a game against a Mostwam girl..and the loser would go into the dreaded gunge tank. Who would win or would it be an honourable draw???
and finally..the piece de resistance. I pitched to Lisa and Leon the scene I have always dreamt of doing. An old-fashioned multi-girl restaurant pie fight scene. I say old-fashioned because the days where WAMTEC or aquaantics would regularly film 7 or 8 girl scenes, are a distant memory due to the costs involved etc. The nearest thing we have had recently would be my four girl Judge Jessie scene or the Moomins' late lamented YDTOTI series where sometimes four or five girls would be in a single skit.
I said to Leon and Lisa 'This is my one chance to make an epic pie scene, so lets go all out'. 'How many girls will we have in the scene?' Lisa asked '6?' 'More'..I suggested, '7?' queried Leon 'More' . ".surely not 8??' More...
'9..we can't do 9!!" "Lets do it..lets make a 9 girl piefight'
A 9 girl piefight scene set-in a restaurant! It was my dream since wanting to make WAM..and now here we were, two well know producers deciding to combine and make it come true.
So Al and I spent a good 45 minutes blocking out each shot of this epic scene, both of us wanting to make it something really special.
Then it was back to the home where Leon, Lisa and Al reside, where Lisa had made an absolutely gorgeous home cooked dinner for us. After some hotcross buns, and a relaxing pint of Guinness, I felt ready for the epic shoot the following day and headed off to bed at 9:30pm..the wild party animal that I am!
I woke up at 4:30am..about my usual for the day of a shoot, and got ready, reading and re-reading my script to ensure I knew it backwards to try and ensure all went as quickly as possible on the day.
I had predicted to Lisa that the restaurant scene would take about three hours to shoot...she laughed and thought this was wildly pessimistic on my part, but having done my ridiculously over complicated scenes for three years now, I am a pretty good judge of timings, and so it proved. It was actually 2.5 hrs, but we started half an hour late as two girls were stuck in traffic, meaning we didn't call 'cut' on that scene till halfway through our allotted shoot time!. Oh..I should tell you that Emily, Bobi and Ania were the 3 extra Mostwam girls brought in for this scene.
So we shot the scene..and I know I am biased and everyone likes different stuff about WAM but all I can tell you is that this was the scene I have wanted to make all my life. I don't want to overhype it, as that will only bring disappointment, but from my point of view it came out 97% identical to the vision in my head, the closest I have ever got, and I could not be happier with it. Even if everyone hates it and it becomes effectively just this hugely overblown white elephant custom, I don't care, it was worth it as it was the scene I have dreamed of making since I was about 13!!!!! Oh..and for those wondering whether we did the Slysmford thing of one girl staying clean..not in this one...all 9 girls got totally creamed .
After that we shot the 2 episodes of Gungetank Girls...Charlotte was the host and Michelle played against Casey, before Satine took on Sky. Who won? I won't give any spoilers away on that one.
We were quite tight for time now, as I had expected, but all five girls required for the Office scene could stay a little later..and there was even time for a quick cameo from Lisa too. I loved how the office scene came together. Three girls ended up trashed, and two got to stay clean and enjoy laughing and gloating...so the ending here was very Slymsford's!
Finally at about 5:15, just 15 mins behind schedule, we finished. My train wasn't until 7pm which was good as it meant I could help Al and Leon with the clean-up and not just scuttle off when the fun bit was over, and I think they appreciated that. What a huge amount of mess..and what a day. Finally my time was up and Leon ran me to the station. I had a trouble-free journey home, and arrived back about 11:15pm and fell into the sleep of the just..though sadly I had to start my dayjob at 8am the following day.
All 9 girls were amazing. The day was amazing. Leon, Lisa and Al were the very definition of consideration and support, I will never forget their kindness, and they have been kind enough to invite me back..if Joepublic enjoys the scenes
I should be able to post a few stills from the shoot when I get some screengrabs later today (provided someone replies to this thread ) but just as a tease, here is a before shot I took in the restaurant, with the girls all just sitting calmly waiting for their lovely cream desserts to arrive. What could possibly go wrong?
That 9 girl restaurant scene looks amazing! It's always pleasing to hear when someones dream comes true in WAM, having that happen to a major WAM producer is incredible.
As soon as I saw this pic as a thumbnail for the messy forum I thought I knew what it was. And it was!
Congrats. This is a very exciting scene many of us will really appreciate (he typed, shakily)
Really, the Moomin studios is the only place on the planet so efficient it's possible to turn around multiple model scenes like this in one day. It's an amazing facility where making epic scenes like these can be economic. So looking forward to going there with Ginger in a few weeks. The possibilities are mind blowing.
Thanks noideer and calgunge...glad you are as excited as I am.
Richard: I know we share some common ground on our tastes so I hoped you would be as excited about this, as I am. I don't want to spoil too much before the release but fans of slapstick set-ups, and also classic slapstick lines will love this I think. Also fans of beautiful women having expensive dresses destroyed with pies and cakes, but that's kind of de rigeur anyway
I played the models a clip from The Hoosegow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a5fE1n_Lzs&t=16m58s (if this doesn't cue in at the right time it's 16mins 58 seconds) before we started filming, to give them an idea of the kind of reactions I was looking for, and everyone bought into it 100%
You are right about the amazing Moomin studio (and of course I am excited that some other great producers like Candy and jelly n Custard are also getting studios so there's more opportunities for collaborations all round), but more than just the studio, also if two producers combine and share the upfront costs of an epic idea like this, and also each brings their ideas and sensibilities, it can make for something far greater than anyone can do alone, I think. The Moomins produce amazing content week in week out...including fab multigirl restaurant scenes..but when another producer comes in with a different take on WAM, you get something new again. I am so grateful to Leon, Lisa, Al and all their team for being generous enough to allow it to happen. I can't wait to see what your collaboration with them yields.
Whilst I wait to get some more stills, here's a picture Satine took of herself in her dress for the restaurant scene..it's all I have for now!
As someone who has been a big fan of both Rev and the Mostwam team, I am incredibly excited to see how this all turns out. I have dreamed for years that Mostwam would add a slapstick/humiliation element to their material and over the last few months they have dabbled in it here and there. Adding the Revmaster's unique brand of slapstick destruction is going to be so hot! I cannot wait to see how this all turns out!
Ahhhh.... so glad you had a great time! We all loved shooting with you. So interesting to see how someone else works!
Haha you forgot the most significant event.... One of our naughty Beagles eating your sandwiches
It was a great experience doing something so scripted, we usually blag and bullshit our way through a shoot Made us really proud to see how well our team adapted to something new
Thanks everybody for all your encouraging words. I just hope no-one ends up disappointed and feeling anti-climactic when the scene comes out. Everyone has their own idea of what a great pie scene looks like and will extrapolate that onto this, of course. A good rule of thumb..if you like the style of shoot I've been doing in my stores for the last 3 years, with everyone staying in character, and everyone enjoying seeing other girls messed up, but hating it themselves (the old slapstick values), it'll be for you. If you don't you probably won't...just trying to manage expectations
Richard: That was one idea 1 really wanted..one girl laughing and laughing and laughing at her friend's misfortune until, to paraphrase you, "The high pitched laughter turned to disgust with pie"
Ruegger: Great to hear from you again. Really glad you like this team-up just as much as we did.
Lisa: I am bowing in a 'not worthy' manner as I type this. You were all amazing and I thought all the cast, from both sites, really stepped up and recognised this was going to be something special. Ah yes..Beaglegate. I felt like such an idiot for not having shut my door properly. I hoped it wasn't a bad omen. It wasn't. In fact I may have a beagle eat some sandwiches before every shoot I do now.
gooeypiefight: I am delighted you're excited. The scenes are being edited at the mo, so this is just a thread to let people know about what a special day it was. If I can get a few more clean grabs from the other two scenes 'gungetank girls' and the Messy Office, I will..and then when the scenes are released you'll be able to see loads of pics, I promise. I really appreciate your excitement..trust me I'm excited too.
Thanks to everyone who has commented so far...really appreciate it
Looks amazing, but you really want us to believe you stuck to a script with that lot in tow?!?
Fantastic living your dream, will be sure to check it
Great review on the moomin team as well... Got my eye on the studio as well as I do my own shoots time to time but since decorating the house have new gunge rules in place from the misses!
(I was very pleased to read you showed them the L&H clip to give them the vibe - more producers should be doing this, as it's a really simple and effective way to help non-wammers 'get it' (before they get it)!!!)
C'mon Rev. This looks so good. Women dressed to the nines where the last thing they expect is to get messed up in a pie fight of all things. That's what was great about the 3Stooges and Laurel & Hardy. The wealthy hoity toity would never expect such a ting. Well, I never....
Perfect humiliation material. Great mess. Great outfits. Beautiful women. Let the pies splatter.
