Foremost, this website/community is a life-saver. I am most grateful to MM and everyone here for keeping it alive and real. It changed everything for me when I found it in 1993!
Ok, with great respect for the multitude of structures, content, and user questions you are always keeping up with is there a page or a forum that gathers all the procedures for uploading content including troubleshooting and error messages?
I have found particular info in different places that connect to certain uploading details, but I'm always looking for what I'm doing wrong and dont see my issue listed. Ha! I need the troubleshooting so I don't bug anyone with forum questions!
I don't see the uploading procedures and troubleshooting in the main FAQs. And it's been a couple years since I've tried uploading videos and GIFs/animated images- and it seems the process has changed, no doubt for the better. But. it is tricky to figure out how it's done.
Recent example, How to resolve the message: No images, unknown codec? The vid looks to be in correct format. Are there size limits? Is there a waiting period? Or might the file not be complete, even though it shows in the bin?
I keep that info right on your Add Scene (bin) page. https://umd.net/manage_download There I have a bunch of uploading instructions and guidelines. I don't have a knowledgebase or anything like that, but I try to make that page informative enough to help you through the most prominent issues I've seen over the years.
I don't think that error message you mentioned came from UMD, but iff you get stuck just message me and I'll try to help any way I can. You really can't mess anything up here, and any error can be corrected
Thank you for your reply. Hope you are doing well! I have read through that info thoroughly before attempting any new upload. It is pretty comprehensive, I guess I am wanting a troubleshooting list.
I have a video in my bin right now. The stats under it seem to be the correct formats and the size is not large. There is a list of options on the right including one that is "play." When I click that, I get a blank viewer which seems to be specifically for files in the bin (not yet in a user's videos page) with the error message,"file uses unknown codec, so picture may be missing" at the bottom. It looks like the codec is the correct one. What do I need to change for it to play?
