Happy New Year everybody! We have a bunch of fun stuff in store for the site this year, but right now I want to mention that we now have a dedicated stories area.
It's just an extension of the blogs, so writing a story works just the same. All writers out there are invited to participate, and established writers are welcome to import all their works here if they want to. If you have an existing blog entry that needs to be marked as a "story" you can simply edit it and check the story box, and it'll show up there.

Okay, I've just added keywords, which will link to a search on that keyword. Writers can now add comma-separated keywords to their stories and UMD will set up the links underneath wherever the title is shown. For the gender stuff, I'm still working on getting your universal gender settings to work in the Stories area.

It's a pretty simple system, and there are no formatting options at all. One day maybe I'll make it more like a real text editor, but for now HTML is enabled there, so you can use that to make things bold and italic.

Yeah pretty much. If it's a longer story, fact or fiction, I'd probably put it in the Stories area, and put the daily more informative stuff in as a blog. Really, use your judgement.
webcamplayer said: stupid question of the week: how do we edit our blogs? I don't seem to get that option?
I didn't even have those edit controls visible. I've just fixed that, and you should see edit / delete links underneath the title wherever your see your own blog.
Though I'll second Andy 123Gunge's request for italics/bold tools. I think these tools are pretty essential for creative writing (the Splosh! Forum's editor is ideal). We can manage without them - but they can help the reader in so many ways and enrich the text indicating emphasis, denoting titles, rhetoric, irony, puns etc - drastically changing how it comes across. Just as much as writing only in CAPS does! We're trying to affect readers and turn them on just as we might normally do with pictures. For many - words aren't just the poor relation of the visual.
Having said that - being able to add illustrations is a good one.
I posted just now my first messy fantasy story in stories section its about naughty sex with beautiful Jenna Louise Coleman. Any feedback, thoughts etc would be very appreciated . https://umd.net/stories/messy-sex-with-jenna-louise-co
In a world full of video games, CG movies, and stupid reality shows, reading a story and using one's imagination is a lost art. Stories and blogs are welcome
PaintedDeer said: Has anyone else had trouble uploading a story? I've tried a few times, but it won't show up in the gallery. It's listed as public.
I checked and I don't see anything uploaded by you at all--public or otherwise. If you're still having problems, please inbox me your text and I'll have a look at what's going on and get it up for you.
