Just seeing if anyone who was old enough to remember this show has any memories of the messier segments of the show.

There was one in particular I've been asking some of the WAM guys I chat to about -

We are talking pre VHS in most houses. But there's no footage, no pics.

The Pie Chair sounds familiar but I can't actually visualise it.

On later series, when the presenters changed, there was a segment called either "The Glue Tube" or "The Goo Tube", where the gunge was in a kind of visible cylinder container above the player that would rotate to empty the contents over them. It was quite thick and stringy looking, which is why the Glue name is in my head.

I think I've a vague memory of that too!!
Someone else had mentioned there was something like that.

Do you think the pie chair could be easily engineered??

I was very young when this show was on but I do remember the pie chair very clearly. I seem to remember there was a pie from the front and sides but I can't remember if it was also from behind the head.

The gunge/stringy gunge I remember seeing happen over teams of four on a compilation show years ago but I'm sorry to say I don't remember it directly.

But my favourite memory was a bit where they would pluck someone out of the audience (always a bloke) and put him in front of a conveyor belt. At the other end was a giant pie that sat on a pedestal (maybe a comedy hand prop). The conveyor belt had a prop wall to left of the belt which appeared to house some mechanics.

The victim would be told to put his hands on two devices on the conveyor and that if he answered truthfully the pie would back away - but the more he lied the closer the pie would get to his face.

However the audience at home could see that behind the prop wall was the victims mother in law and she would turn a crank that moved the pie backwards and forwards on the conveyor belt. This led to lolz as the victim would answer questions honestly but would be surprised to see the pie approaching quickly. Sadly I haven't seen any clips of this :-(

Also one of the presenters took a bath in porridge

That presenter was Jeremy Beadle he lay in a bath and the porridge was poured from 2 cement mixers above the bath to give him a "cement" overcoat as in the 1930,s gangster days.

I did like the game testing woman's intuition. The wife was asked if she was going for a hit or a miss. She stood there holding a pie, giggled then said she was going for a hit!!

I have images/memories of the pie chair. It had a big pink 'boxing glove' style comedy prop hand as I recall

This is the problem with old tv shows, so many gunge scenes from tv just can't be seen again. Tv channels won't repeat certain shows and certainly won't add them to streaming services. I get so frustrated with not being able to see certain scenes or shows that I remember. The internet these days makes us think anything is online but when you search nothing exists.

I've been looking for a clip of Game For A Laugh for years that's not wam related and all I can go on is word of mouth since there is no info anywhere online at all, the same goes for lost GYOB scenes.. It would be great if every channel had an online archive where many older shows could be viewed.

This is the holy grail of clips for me...there was a whole season where each week a guy received wonderfully sloppy yellow pies via the pie chair.

Yes I remember to huge yellow sloppy pies and they came in with such force they splatted so well. Looked such great fun x

I want to see this show now as I wasn't born when it was on tv. Has it ever been repeated since the 80s?

One particular funny Pie Chair episode was when the contestant was asked to recite 100 hundred words without the letter "a" in 30 seconds or pay the forfeit.

The audience laughed.

They then correctly counted to one hundred.

At that point Nicolas Parsons. A famous quiz host and comedian was introduced from the next studio to replace the contestant. And was suitably creamed. To howlers of laughter from the audience.

I always wondered what a good sport he was to be available each week to be a susstitute! Just waiting to get splattered.

Truth is they probably filmed heaps of episodes at one time!

The Nicholas Parsons flanning was wonderful. I think he made out he didn't know what was going to happen to him (he obviously did). It was a great build up and lovely yellow flans to his perfect face whilst in well dressed atire.
He was also flanned on the Roland Rat show and gunged on Noels House party.....putting his face directly under the stream of Gunge at one point.
He was a brilliant WAM victim.
