I mean, it's expensive as hell. And not all prompts work. And you *have* to find a way around actual faces to do anything R-rated, like this one below.
But when it works... DAMN. This is the kind of "Cream Pie Maniac" clip I always wanted to do but didn't have the resources or space to pull off. And no, this isn't sped up for a GIF.... I've got Seedance giving me clips that move this fast pretty consistently! Plus the audio is on point as well.
Let me know what you think... I've got quite a few clips at this level, plus other PG-rated ones that feel more like a pure (12-to-15-second) comedy skit.... I feel like I should find a way to monetize this somehow to justify the costs, although I know that's a tricky thing....
YES! Absolutely. Please make more. Perhaps some mud scenes, too. One where the pretty girl walks outside ans someone has dug a big mud pit during the middle of the night. And she trips and falls face first into the squishy goo. LOL!
Curious in the long run if it's cheaper to pay a human to do a full scene or to keep plugging away at getting the AI to come up with a facsimile across multiple 15-second clips...
I honestly don't even think of them as the same thing at all.
Writing a scene IS like creating a scenario in your head (NOT having AI do it, BTW).... But then you spend hours and days doing the nuts & bolts of buying and setting up and prepping. And then the actual shoot is work but also, ideally, a lot of fun... And sometimes the gags you write turn out better than anticipated, and sometimes not. But the model is flesh & blood with a real personality and I don't AI can replicate those human quirks at ALL.
These 15-second AI videos... especially now with Seedance 2... Are effectively me creating my own short little mainstream clips. So it's not "real." It's a modern version of what we saw on the TV as kids, or in cliptapes from Hurley or WAMTEC, or later YouTube: A scenario, a hot girl, and some mess that they hopefully do correctly. Just like TV clips, you get disappointed. But when the AI hits, it's not *too* far off from the rush of, say, the Mandrell pieing or the BBC reporter getting wrecked with pies by clowns.
Same thing: 15 seconds, not much context, not much aftermath. But also never quite replicated by producers, including yours truly. Whole different construct.
There's a reason I make sure the location is always "sitcom set".... I want the look and feel and lighting, and also the studio audience laughter and pacing. (And sometimes they give you the music cues too!) If you think of AI as a live-action cartoon, I think that's way more useful than, say, thinking it'll replace live human messy scenes.
ANYWAY. It's late and I'm waxing on way too long about this stuff....
Not gonna lie, I'm not the biggest fan of generative AI (mostly due to the environmental and energy costs), but I have to admit, this looks pretty damn good.
I guess if Rich creates amazing AI scenes like this for all of us, then that's fewer people using AI and thus, less energy!
