I have sad news to share regarding our friend Norman Mabeld: He recently passed away after a long struggle with heart disease. He hadn't been very active here for the past several years but those of you who have been around for a bit will recall that he was once one of the most enthusiastic voices and prolific commenters on this site. I am forever grateful for his support and encouragement, especially way back in the day when Bigshipper and I first started posting content and I was very nervous about it.
Generous to a fault, he never had an unkind word for anyone - a rare quality, indeed.Though his physical heart failed before they could find him a new one, his "true" heart was one of gold and I will always remember him for that.
He often told me that he was my biggest fan (though I think he said that to all the girls, lol). He did make me feel like a movie star and even asked for an autographed photo once!
If you have a moment, please share a thought or a memory of Norman, maybe a photo that you know he liked or would have liked - I know he would get a kick out of that. I'll start things off by sharing the photo that he asked me to sign. (it's pending approval)
RIP, my dear friend. I hope the pies are flying wherever you are.
Bee
PS: Mods, I'm posting in the messy forum where more people will see, but understand if it needs to be in non-wam,
I'm really sorry to hear that, many thanks to Mrs Bee for letting us all know. Norman was a wonderfully warm person, and always an enthusiastic supporter of our work. It was on his private suggestion that I first contacted Maria, which led to a multi-year collaboration, some incredible shoots, and an enduring friendship. He will be missed, and long remembered within these walls. Go in power. Salute. *sorrows*
People like Norman are the reason why this forum is so great. A sweet, gentle guy who always seemed to have something positive or encouraging to add. I always felt like he and I shared the same kink profile-- i.e., liked the same types of things from this fetish. Very sad. Hope Miss Bee doesn't mind me uploading this pic in honor of Norman
Mrs. Bee was conflicted about posting this, but I'm glad she did, a good way to honor his memory. A genuinely nice guy who made this place better via his involvement. Sad to see him, Phoebe, and Jhub (Piegirl K's hubby) pass. But the Wam world keeps on spinning...

I am very sad hearing this...altough we never met in person, I am pretty sure he was the first person here on umd to welcome me! He was a great person,I hope he is happy now where he is and in peace. RIP
As someone who has been on here since practically day one I've seen every manner of bad person on here. I've seen overdemanding people, possessive people, guys who would post their own take on the fetish as a request on the nearest sniff of a woman. I've seen arguments and bitching, I've seen the overpriveleged complaining. And you know something...
Norman was none of these. You know that when his comments popped up on a profile they would be genuine and genuinely supportive. Sad loss to the community.
It is rare, at any stage of life, to meet a person so positive that their light spills out and brightens everyone around them. That was Norman every day.
I know he's someplace wonderful now. And it probably smells like cake batter.
This is just so sad to hear. Norman was always so kind when he would correspond with us. He wanted me to get back in front of the camera, and as a tribute to his memory, I will in 2022.
Mrs. Bee, thank you so much for posting this notice. Norman and I spent many nights chatting about classic slapstic films. For those that are not aware, his screen name here was a tribute to his favourite classic actress of that era, Mabel Normand. We used to send each other messages if we saw a film with her on the listings at Turner Classic Films. He was a true gentleman, and giant of the early UMD. His support to a then young guy finding the messy community a few decades ago was very welcome.
His will be a presence much missed here at UMD, but also well remembered.
Among other things, mostly already said, I just wanted to mention what a talented musician Norman was. He played piano, and several brass instruments, but I would guess he played more and was just very humble about it.
My sentiments are exactly the same as those shared by others here--Norman Mabeld was a great guy and a gentle soul. I had some lengthy private exchanges with him over a period of a few years (though unfortunately not recently) and also found him unfailingly kind and genuinely enthusiastic to hear about the experiences of others on this site--he was never negative or snarky regarding shared insights or discoveries. Norman was a huge fan of "mainstream WAM" and had some fascinating insights into living during the "Dark Ages" of WAM--he told me a few amazing stories about catching now completely "lost" television moments going all the way back to the sixties, and we loved to reminisce about the days when all of us were free-floating agents scanning library books, old yearbooks, and classic movies and TV shows for a good pie in the face and wondering if there were any others interested in the different varieties of messy fun the way that we were.
RIP His online name was a tribute to silent film actress Mabel Normand. She did perhaps the first-known mud scene in a film called "Muddled in Mud" aka "A Muddy romance."
Caution said: Aw, that is really sad. He was always so kind on these forums to everyone.
I recall Maria (Mypierogative) told me about how nice he was, having met him in person.
He brought maria to my house to sttay and hes such an amazing and sweet man! oh man. the wam world lost a remarkably cool and sweet human!
He was so excited to meet you Jayce!!
Thank you for letting us know MrsBee.
This is horrible news. Last i heard from him was on my birthday, he managed to share a happy birthday despite being sent back into the damn hospital the same day! Guess the transplant couldn't come soon enough y'all. Ugh how effing sad.
Norman really was such a nice human. I met him a couple times over the years and he was just as kind and sincere as he was in all his comments and messages supporting other wammers. We really lost such a positive spark here in the Umd. I never thought I'd be so happy to look back and be so happy I had the pleasure of breaking someone's Wam cherry. RIP Norman
