Hello, long time lurker and observer about these parts. I finally made an account a few years back, and I figured I am wayyy overdue to actually interact.
Even now I mostly just lurk or post my favorites to my profile, but every once in awhile I'm curious about maybe the psychological or personal aspects of others with this fetish.

I know this subject has come up, though hopefully not in the exact way I'm asking, and apologies if it's been beaten to death.

I was however curious about something; does everyone have a first memory or experience that springs to mind that you knew from that point you had an interest in WAM?

I know these things can frequently (though not in all cases) be traced back to childhood or adolescence, and is obviously not arousing at earlier ages but more visceral or sensual.

If you did have that moment, did it evolve into something more fetishistic from something more innocent or did you know at that point it was a turn on?
That's definitely the case for myself.
Even as a kid I was fairly fastidious, always clean, and always mindful of never making too much of a mess.

My first inkling of it comes from 3 specific experiences in a very short period of time when I was 5-6.

Watching Saturday morning cartoons, there was a commercial for some kind of chocolate drink that kept airing throughout the morning.
The people in the commercial were bouncing up and down and getting a lot of chocolate dumped all over them.
It felt odd, and even at that age I knew that I was drawn to that, that it would be more than just fun, but something to really revel in and enjoy.

My 2nd experience was just after Halloween, I got dressed up, for a school function and the next day there was some grease-paint on the kitchen table, left over from my devil costume.
I distinctly remember opening it, grabbing a hand full of red and black and smearing it all over my face.
I remember the waxy smell, like crayons as I smeared it all over.
My heart was pounding because I know I was doing something naughty (getting into something) but also making a mess of myself.

The 3rd one happened very shortly after that, less than a year later, when I was 6 or so. Someone left the TV on and the (super campy) movie Second Sight was playing and there was a gunge scene where 2 characters got gunged in "ice cream" (basically thick slime by the look of it).
One of the characters was a woman dressed as a nun, and she got absolutely drenched, and even at that age there was something compelling about that.

There are others, later on in life, and once puberty started, and I was jacking it non-stop I pretty much knew I was turned on by girls getting messy and enjoying it too.

So, do you have as distinct a memory of something like that? Or was it more a gradual exploration informed by things like Nickelodeon game shows or from movies and such? (I grew up in a rural area, no cable for that!)

At about age eight or nine, I saw the episode of the Brady Bunch during which they visit a movie studio and are involved in a pie fight. When Marcia, Jan and the mom got hit, something insane went off inside of me. Could not identify it at the time, but it was the first one, followed shortly thereafter by seeing Greta Thyssen get hit with a cake in Quizz Whizz. Those are the two.

Sounds like I'm same age range as Closet, but for me it was seeing any women pied on TV in the 70's at a very young age. I'm talking, I think I knew I was into WAM at 5. (And always a disappointment when a guy was pied, which was often.)

Can't say I remember my first. However, the scene that probably most made an impact would be when the pretty French maid got pied in the Stooge's "Pest Man Wins" short. About 3 months ago in a gunge tank

I had heard of sploshing and wam before but even though I've done pretty much everything under the sun it didn't really appeal to me enough to look into it more. I'm a bit of a prissy princess normally and the thought of ruining my hair? Eww, no thanks.

I can't recall a definite beginning to it but I grew up in the 1970s and 80s. I became fascinated by custard pies, slapstick and people (particularly females) getting wet or messy in nice clothes (which would 'shock' me as my parents were particularly strict about this kind of thing at home). I saw Bugsy Malone aged about 7 and this blew my mind - leaving me in a kind of cold sweat.

As I got older, I picked up on my piers' lack of interest, even disapproval, in this sort of thing and began to feel shameful and secretive - buying shaving foam and sneaking it into my bedroom where I would 'pie' myself. I would also actively avoid slapstick on TV - feeling terribly self-conscious - as I would go into a cold sweat (unless I could watch it on my own - which was almost never. I watched the teachers being gunged on How Dare You! in black and white on a portable TV. Everybody else remembers the multi-coloured oatmeal - I viewed it as white, pale slop!)

As I reached puberty - I seemed to grow out of the self-WAMming as the focus became increasingly a visual one - on women I found attractive getting messy. But exactly what it did for me was not clear - other than the 'cold sweat' feeling of utter embarrassment.

I was actually well into my teens before the penny dropped and I realised, whilst watching a video alone I had secretly taped of a woman being gunged on Noel's Saturday Roadshow (pictured*) - and the mechanics of sexuality kicked in, that this actually turned me on. I have to admit, though, I often found NHP to be a bit of a disappointing tease -actually finding more WAM moments on Jim Davidson's Gen Game (broadcast directly prior on a Saturday night) which was at a better time for going out.

This matches my experience quite a bit only from the other side of the pond. When I was little (pre-puberty), WAM on TV would excite me and make me feel weird -- kinda nauseous. It's interesting how a lot of the core details of individual stories are similar, though the details are often a little different.

First of all, THANK YOU to the original poster for starting this thread. This is actually one of my very favorite subjects: hearing various wammer's "life stories" - how they discovered their interest in it, the first experiences etc! I could spend hours on end just doing nothing but reading such stories of people's various backgrounds/experiences!

Mine isn't dissimilar to many of the others posted here. Problem is, I can't actually remember the origin. It would have to also be around 10-years-old or younger, as I can vaguely recall it already existing by the mid '80s in one form or another. There would be times when I was at college when I had days off in the week and my parents were at work/siblings were at school.

In person though, I remember around the time I was twelve and still going to camp, two of the attractive female counselors got made into human sundaes on their birthday. I can still picture them walking away afterwards with the chocolate syrup dripping from their hair. I think it was around then that I knew I was into it.
