So it's going to be unseasonably warm here today (about 24 C/75 F)... am I crazy to think about mudding in this weather? I know in certain parts of the world this would be considered warm but I'm interested to hear what others think.

for me at least 15c and not too windy
tried 5c with a windchill factor of -2 before and do not recommend

The warmest day I have ever been out on wasn't as warm as that! Like a lot of us in the UK, my cutoff is somewhere around 14-15 C.
I like to go for mudding at a temp. about 24 C and a mud temp. at least 18C.For example early spring on a hot day and the mud temp. is 10 C I prefer working in my garden.
My favorite weather to go mudding is hot weather! I think I've been in mud when the air temp is about 95 F (35 C), and have worn full body spandex in the mud at as low as 40 F (5 C), but damn that's cold and not fun to wash off in!

Warm? By UK standards that would be roasting hot! My models and I have sent an absolute minimum of 21 degrees for outdoor scenes, though it it was a bright sunny day, with no wind (that is vital) then we might consider mud if it was a degree or two cooler - it would depend on how keen the model was to get muddy, after a long winter of no outdoor scenes some of the girls are really keen to get out and into the mud.
What!! 24 degrees?? yeah, here in the UK that's hot! Brings back memories of all those times in the early days when I was a little hardier maybe than I am now, and also even dafter. My desperation to get muddy drove me to the edges of hypothermia on several occasions. Nowadays something around 17 degrees seems right.

Yep, I'd played in cooler temperatures a couple of times in my youth; the excitement of it would almost overcome the cold, at least until it came to cleaning up. That's definitely something that gets less appealing as I get older!
In my youth, it was one hell of a turn on if the mud was really cold after a frosty night and if you could go for an energetic run after to warm up; but age determines that it needs to be at 20f or more, otherwise I could get hyperthermic.

dear god. i have been mudding in some severely cold weather before...and it was so thick. and i rode home and thought i had lost a gosh damn hand to frost bite! ariel shot the video in LAYERS of clothes and i was Nude. ! i think if the wind were not so bad, it wouldnt have been QUITE as brutal. the mud was awesome. thick and great but the temp that got it there, was pretty fucking cold. gosh damn. oddly enough i dont know why i didnt rinse off in the river. strange as it seems, the river water stays pretty warm for a while, even once the mornings and evenings turn cold. you just gotta sink down to the bottom but yeah, i have mudded in about 30 degree weather. it was pretty brutal. i was down the whole day. my whole body ached from my muscles being so tight for so long.! worth it!
My cutoff these days is just a little below freezing. Warm is nice but the mosquitos and ticks are horrendous if it's too warm out. Plus I like winter clothes so the cold is no worry.
All ya'll with your nice fluffy and silky lakes of mud are spoiled. This is the crap I have up here... Honestly, I'd just be happy to find a place like Chantelle, the Moomins, or that legendary hidden lake of Ariel and Jayce's JUST ONCE!

All year round for me. Even zero degrees! I rather like the sensation of cracking through the ice into glorious mud. Obviously you can't stay in for long, but it's a thrill!
