Besides the content, it'll be a completely new environment that I have to get everything ready for, so that's why it's taking so long. The new file uploader and removal of FTP was necessary but folks seem to be doing well with it so far. Also, now if you look underneath your bin, you can adjust the number of frames per second grabbed from your video. (Default is one every 5 seconds.)

I removed our old thumbnailer that used Mplayer and now we're using a new one straight through ffmpeg which is simpler code-wise and faster. We now handle up to 1.5GB per file, resolutions up to 4k, and I'm trying to get h.265 decoding and encoding on the new server. Besides that, most of my time has been spent building out the backend tools that manage, transfer, back up, and restore all our files.

I was just searching for "h.265" on the forum and ended up on this thread. I am currently switching to do more 4K material and was wondering if it is already supported on the UMD.

Yes. I render 4K in h264 mp4 with a bitrate reduced to 8,000k with give you a small enough file without any noticeable loss of quality.

We do support video of any resolution, as long as it fits under our file size and bitrate limits (explained on your profile's Add Scene page). You can also upload H.265, but note that if you are going to use it for streaming, it will be down-converted to H.264 so that it can be played universally on all browsers. H.265 has been the culprit behind the infamous "black screen with audio only" but the files play fine on standalone players.
