Generally speaking I prefer wiping because I feel it's the more natural thing to do. Following on to the poster above, hands is the way to go in between hits during a scene, waiting to towel off completely until the end of the scene. I'm also cool with water being used during a scene because I feel it actually adds to the mess. That said I'm also totally up for bondage where the girl can't wipe, but that's probably the most likely scenario where I don't prefer wiping.
Micro-managing models to the point of if they wipe, when they wipe, and the direction in which they wipe kills any scene for me, since the end result is the girl behaves stiff and unnaturally (and there's probably a lot of whispering in the background).
Some models are quick wipers and some leave it on forever. I prefer the latter but sales indicate this isn't a primary factor for any customers. I WILL say, "Ah that's great don't wipe!" after a particularly good hit, as it kills me to get the perfect hit only to have the model wipe immediately.
The comedic wipe trumps it for me. A wipe that expresses the emotion - disbelief, indignation, slow-burn. It doesn't have to look natural, better if it's played for effect -but I can't bear to see a girl go to wipe instinctively and then suddenly remember they've been instructed not to. I'm thinking of writing a book entitled "The Art Of The Wipe".

You mean you don't find it effective to constantly yell "DON'T WIPE! DON'T WIPE!" or "LOOK UP! LOOK UP!" at your models?
now this is a good question! this is a good thread bc i have always wondered this! however, if im doing a tit for tat scene with someone and i feel like i need to wipe, im gonna wipe as to continue to be able to pie and have fun with ease. i think wiping has become almost a habit sometimes when i do....i dont NEED to! its just a habit i think! bc i have thought before, "im not gonna wipe during this pie scene bc i wanna see how much pie will stay on my face..." and then in the scene i will end up wiping it just out of pure habit! (its like i have haunted hands!!! lol ) honestly, i think it is something that is like a trigger to do when hit with a pie...i swear! when i see a scene i like to see the "non wipe" look for a few hits and slimes but then i like to see a wiping to see the models smile, or if its a humiliation or tit for tat scene, if she is disgruntled....bc there are some models who do such a good job with their facial expressions! anyway, there is "jayce's long winded post for the day...." oh wait, its only 830 am...im sure there will be more. lol

Actually, I find whispering in the most creepy unsettling voice possible works best. Also, the fwapping sound that follows as the model sits there blindly is, um, the air conditioner.....

Chega Mais does it right when it comes to wiping. I love their pie scenes because wiping makes it MORE MESSY, it just spread the mess around because of their sticky pies.

I'm a big fan of the eye wipe. I really don't like scenes where the model doesn't open her eyes. Somehow, the eyes are an essential part of what I want to see.

My favorite "look" by far is a model who is able to open their eyes with no or minimal wiping and leaves it at that.
One who wipes immediately and way more than necessary just utterly ruin any scene for me. Nowadays, with as much access to so many WAM (producer work, mainstream and civilian options) I have been dulled to any WAM with excessive wiping, it's a zero for me personally.
A model able to open their eyes without wiping is great though, then if you have that AND great reactions, camera work and all the rest, that is what makes for a truly good scene.
And, none of the hits Messygirl showed (which she was asking if they were right or not) really had that feel, they all looked like the models wiped fairly thoroughly.
A great recent example of a "wiping as little as necessary" would be that caking of Gabriele Duarte from that soap she's on:
She wipes, but very little and only just enough to get her eyes open. Good for her. Then she reacts in a proud manner, which there are several "good" reactions and the overly proud one (whilst looking ridiculous) is always a good one. Shocked, stunned, or "acceptance" (see Moose from YCDToTV) are good, too.
Right now, the best active model I'm aware in this department is probably Breanna from Slapstickstuff. She's popular for a reason. While she's gorgeous, what sets her apart is her ability to non-wipe or take it like a champ. Not sure you can teach a model to do that, wish you could though.
btw, I'm going to offer more praise to Gabriel Duarte, I watched the entire scene again and I noticed that as the scene ends, she gets up from the table, says some words, and leaves.
It's clear there she's been re-caked (the first hit missed a tiny bit above her forehead, but in that moment it's complete coverage). The second hit looked as "little wiping" as the first.
Also, not just the wiping but her reaction in general is so slow and deliberate. Slowing the models down to react, if possible, works very well. No need to rush these things, I don't think.

Thanks for the kind words! Although as someone who knows her work VERY well, she's not even the best "non-wiper" currently shooting for SlapstickStuff! (That would be either Victoria or Shauna, two more recent girls. Their minimal wiping is amazing... and no, you can't teach it!)
Although speaking of teaching, I HAVE trained Bre over the years to leave the mess on longer (and to be fair, most of that is her getting used to everything). Especially cake hits, which is why you often get that great look where her eyes "peek out" but all the other coverage is intact. In the past she used to wipe her nose and mouth area really fast which tended to dampen the impact of an otherwise stellar hit.
But as this thread (and others) has shown, there is no "Right Answer" in WAM, and whatever you do is bound to make someone disappointed.
