I am not gonna be mean or anything- this guy came to me when I offered a bunch of my own clothing to destroy-the clothes were free-you just paid for the custom supplies and fees. So? This person bought a bunch of blazer and skirt outfits from Temu-some white lace shirts, two wedding gowns---and he wanted me to paint them. The gowns are beautiful and they are huge! So? I was giving him his price and he didn't want to pay this bc he said that he paid for all these clothes. Clothes that you pick out for me to destroy are not payment. Unless you get a wetlook custom or something and pick out things I would want or like? And I don't destroy them? That is a different story. So? He does not want to pay the price I gave him to paint a wedding gown and one of the outfits. He said he spent all this money on the clothes. Which are nothing I would wear-and they are being destroyed! So? If you want to destroy these outfits? Feel free to contact me-unless he decides he wants me to mail them back. I will happily destroy them and send him a copy--- But? If you are interested? I will send you pics. Feel free to contact me at jcustom4u @ gmail.com I don't have enough space to store them!
Sorry I forgot to mention- The outfits are like? Business attire/ matching blazer and skirts. White lace tops. 2 wedding gowns. The outfits are not anything I would wear anywhere but would look good on camera to trash if you like that look. they were from Temu but with the right heels and stockings and some jewelry they would look more glam they would be good for messing up. For that business type look. The gowns are huuuuuge and beautiful! So? Shoot me an email at jcustom4u @ gmail with the header:
Aw, that really sucks. Of course, the custom fees should be on top of any materials (i.e. clothes!) required, unless you price the materials into the custom to start with.
I'd love one of the wedding gowns but a) I'm not in the US and b) if it fits you, there's ZERO chance of it fitting me
Not about the clothing but I feel like it's the same as generally any independent contractor job where you have someone perform a service for you?
Like, even if you messed up an old dress that you hadn't had in years, or someone bought you a top that you WOULD wear and you were able to salvage it, it's not like you can just snap your fingers and instantly have all of the supplies you need free of cost, or do the same and go from wearing a cocktail dress covered in mud to clean instantly.
It's like having a pool built- you provide the materials, but you also have to pay for the time and effort spent building the pool.
Also- I feel like there should be a clothing fee no matter what. If it's ruined, you can never wear it again and it's not then you probably want to have it dry cleaned afterwards lol.
There are many options for what becomes of clothing used in custom shoots. What is important is to have a thorough understanding on the part of both parties as to all aspects related to the clothing before any clothing is provided...
