We're still here, slopping it up, and I thank all the producers, members, visitors, and lurkers who have stuck with us in this turbulent year. We still had so much fun regardless. Even if 2023 is a mess, I know that we'll get through anything thrown at us.
I really wanted to make a toast to the mods and other active community members who consistently hold us down every day. I don't know if everybody wants to be called out individually, but without yall, this site would not be here. I think we're settling into a nice rhythm of how to keep things organized and sane without escalating it. That's an art and you are all artists.
This whole operation is still very small. It's only because of people volunteering their time on the front-end that we can remain completely independent, free of influence from investors or advertisers, and not having to sell user information or track your viewing habits to gather data. It's because of them that we don't have to let cold heuristics make unappealable decisions, and we don't have to let jerks stick around, forcing people to use the block button.
Because our mods and community members are so in touch, we get to stay as private, safe, intimate, and cozy as we want to be. I live here, and I want everybody else to feel like this is home, too.
So a toast! To the mods of UMD, to Messmistress and the dozens of other folks who also keep us all at peace so we can wam on! Maybe stop by their profiles and say hi https://umd.net/people#hosts
Everybody have fun, stay safe, and get fucked up tonight, and I'll see you on the other side!
Messmaster

p.s. Vegas vacation is still on. Super lo-key. I'll make a post about that soon.

To you as well. Thank you for creating this place and bringing us together. Thank you for that invite out all those years ago to meet you. Through that I've met so many wonderful people here over the years and my life would be far less fun and interesting without you all in it.
We wish everyone a fun , safe, but still messy new year! And thanks to Messmaster and all the admins/moderators on here for keeping this a safe space for all of us to enjoy. Here is to another year!

You don't have to, yet you chose to. Funny how someone had to be the most blocked person on the site for real action to be taken. Also funny during a certain topic all the mods except you and Filthy were noticeably absent.
Hopefully we have learned a lot this year and the next one will be better for the community and for the site as a whole. That it is not a good look to try and defend someone who committed SA. We have seen a lot of situations where civil conversations can happen. Where we can come together and celebrate the fetish that we enjoy. Where we can stand behind members of the community that have been wronged by others. Where a lot of heated discussions can happen without the site burning down. Unfortunately we have a long way to go when it comes to how we view and talk about members of the community. Let's also toast those that were so offended by the discussions here that they closed shop and left. Hopefully we can grow as a community to a place where they will feel welcome coming back.

I think we all witnessed what happened in that 2 days in real time. I did drop notes to let the community know I was there, before the major announcement, and then I think I explained for a week straight what it took to offload the largest producer we ever had. It was a complicated mess and we're still dealing with it now
But about that guy, nobody gets to accumulate that many blocks and stay here. Just 8 or so of them will probably be enough for me to just kick you off, and that was the point of this thread. During these fiascos, the community spoke up about him and he became the most-blocked person, plus his record showed that he had to go, so he's gone. It's not like other social networking sites where he'd be allowed to stay and just get blocked by 200 people, know what I mean?
The mods and the community flagging and sending feedback is what allows us to stay relatively creep-free!

I know dealing with the producer was hard. I know it was a huge mess and rough to deal with. That is what you were doing on the back end. That is a separate situation to what I am talking about. You were dealing with a lot. Hopefully in the new year we can all do better.
