Just that question really. If you are a producer, what made you decide to get started? Was it a no-brainer, or did it take a long time to get around to picking up the camera for some reason? Did it live up to your expectations?

Or, maybe you were a producer but retired. Why? Did circumstances change, did you get bored or disillusioned? Do you miss it?

Maybe. like me, you are constantly on the edge of getting started, but have some reason not to take the plunge. For me, it's a combination of things - practicalities, but also a sense that it's a step away from the person I want to be. That's not to denigrate those of you doing it - I admire what you do, I'm just not sure if I can do it at this point. I may yet change my mind...

Thats a very interesting question. me and andy250 back in the day when we spoke just progressed into filming on a bigger scale with the models. I have since split off and no longer film much and he carried on. For me to get back into it now its on a smaller scale less budget and restricted to a house living room bathroom or kitchen like most and is now amateur rather than using models.

I don't because of the opposite reason to you. It's a step towards who I want to be, but there are so many steps I need to take first. I need to not be a creepy fuck who can make people run by smiling. I need to not be pathologically afraid of being the person holding any of the power in any given interaction. I need to not be ashamed of my own gonads. I need to stop writing this post before it makes me go eat an entire tub of ice cream.

Cutting a long story short I already had the dunk tank and I was approached with the suggestion of putting some films together. Thinking back it went along the lines of did I know about Dragons Den and the it went on to my partner in crime suggesting we put some films together. At the time I didn't think it would be possible but so glad we tried and did succeed in producing quite a few films.Originally it was just the Dunk Tank Babes wet look films but in a moment of madness we decided to fill the tank with gunge. Everyone said don't do it, you're mad but it kind of worked well once we'd got the hang of mixing such a huge quantity. For any of you thinking of having a go at producing films, just go for it and see how you get on. We never expected to do much more than a handful of films yet here we are still going strong and even now selling the gunge itself to other producers.

Well it started in 1997 when Mark of Wamtec handed me a camera and said shoot the pie scenes and have been doing it for the last 18 years. The beginning was lean but I had a passion for it and it was a great way to meet beautiful women whom I am still friends with some of them, with the advent of the download in 2006, the money came rolling in so I kept at it. But now everyone can get almost everything for nothing on You tube etc and the costs to make videos has doubled with sales at 1/3 so anyone can do the math that producing new stuff is just not profitable and my passion is less as I grow older

No one else was shooting what I wanted to see, plus some willing models literally fell into my lap. I'd had the idea I wanted to produce my own gunge videos from way back, when I still thought I was the only person in the world who got turned on by fully clothed messy girls, but on discovering other wammers in 1995, the desire to do so really ratcheted up. Made a few false starts which didn't come to anything, but then in 2004 I met Lady Jasmine, then Lady Elizabeth, soon followed by Miss Pink, Wendy, and Lady Full-Wellington, and everything highballed from there.

I made a concious decision to make the site unique in both plotline and outfits, following my own style and taste rather than trying to pander to a mass market or copying anyone else's ideas - and it turns out there are other people who like girls in boilersuits, catsuits, dungarees, swimsuits worn under clothes, proper high waist jeans, plain knee length skirts and dresses, and all the other things we've covered (or filled or gone swimming in ) too! This is our tenth anniversary, sales are still climbing, it's been one hell of a ride so far!

I am producing pictures because i just love the results... I don't care if others like them, because they are exactly in a way i'd love to look at.

Needless to say that this concept won't work if you have to earn money with it - at this point you have to leave your own taste, drifting to mainstream.

I started because I didn't see much in the way of "scripted WAM" out there... Most scripts were either a very loose sketch of an idea (like what Phoebe or Neil did), or something that would start scripted (like "Arial's Pie Shop") before turning into the standard "messy free-for-all." I had a LOT of ideas for scripts and Neil offered me a lot of support and guidance, so I went for it.

I don't know if I really ever made scripted WAM a "thing," but a few other folks picked up the ball and ran with it... Blue Leopard during his time, and now WAM America with the very detailed, involved scripts, plus different locations and camera angles and better production values. (And "Slapstick Killers," if that movie ever gets finished I guess!)

I've loosened up over the years with quite a few unscripted scenes, but I still love a well-executed skit, even if they typically AREN'T great sellers. Something like the Star Wars clip, or America's Got Talent parody, or the recent "Shelly vs. Shelly" gameshow... are almost like filming pieces of a puzzle, and it's really cool when everything comes together in editing.

[p.s. WLP Robby did excellent scripted scenes long before me! And then... He stopped. So I guess that's why I had to start...]

I wanted to make money doing something I enjoyed that wouldn't make my health problems worse (although that applies to fetish production in general, not just wam). I have so many friends from college who work at places they hate & are still struggling to pay off their student loans. You spend so much of your life working that it just seems awful to have a job you don't like. Obviously there are drawbacks since a lot of people don't respect fetish/porn producers & as a model you do get the occasional stalker.

The part about not hitting on your models seems like kind of a dealbreaker.

-1972 is when I first started collecting media off various UK tv shows and movies.

-1972 to 1979 I would shoot wam photos privately with my girlfriends

-1979 is when I bought the first consumer grade video camera and started to produce videos, purely for my own enjoyment and collection

- 1980 to 1989 my wife was my one and only wam model for my private videos

- in 1989 I happened to be waiting for my flight at Heathrow airport and browsing the news stand when I was taken aback by the discovery of this jaw dropping magazine published by Bill Shipton, called Splosh magazine on the rack at the airport. I was gobsmacked, cos I thought I was alone in the world with my weird interests, and this magazine showed me that there were other people in this world who had the same interests as I had.

- in 1992 I got laid off from the Corporate world, but handed a pretty good severance package to send me on my way. I then decided to invest that money into starting my own video production business, following the number one rule that any business owner follows...i.e. 2 out of every 3 start up business fail and go bankrupt within 3 years, so whatever business you decide to do make darn sure you have a real passion for what you plan to do, cos you stand a good chance of losing your shirt, so do something you love doing, so even if you fail you will have a lot of fun doing it.

- in 1992 I was bored with the mainstream Playboy style way that wet and messy scenes were done in mainstream adult videos, so I hated their style, and the styles that other early wam producers like Splosh and Messy Fun were doing were great, but I preferred a different style in clothings than their styles, so I decided to launch my own Wamtec productions in the summer of 1992, hiring several of the same models Bill Shipton also hired for his UK productions, and so I invited those 5 UK girls in 1992 to spend 6 weeks at my ranch in Florida, and we had a blast making wam videos for the next 6 weeks that year.

- and for the next 23 years I met and worked with a lot of great people along the way, especially when Rob Blaine and Lenny came to visit and help me with our mud and pie shoots in the 1990's.....we had a blast.

I was making my own wam media privately since 1972 for 20 years before I came out of the wam closet and went public in 1992, and what got me started was not to make money, but to meet other people who shared the same interests I had ....e.g. I was one of only 2 people in the world I know who actually met face to face with the reclusive Howard Hughes of the wam world, Pie Mafia founder Hurley Coward, cos he was so reclusive I think only myself and Rob Blaine ever met him when he attended one my shoots and directed the girls in some pie scenes....so this was like getting an audience with the Pope.

Before I found that copy of Splosh magazine at a Heathrow Airport kiosk in 1989, I thought I was alone in this world, and then I suddenly found Splosh and all these wam fanse on the Compuserve system forum and Rob Blaine's Usenet Newsgroup (which is where all the wam fans would chat prior to 1998 when UMD was created).

That's it 100% for me. I love being creative. I love writing. I always have loads of ideas. Often I would suggest them to other producers who quite rightly ignored them and did what THEY wanted. So I knew the only way these ideas would ever see fruition is if I did it myself. However for years the voice in my head told me I couldn't do it, that the fact that I am incredibly impractical and cack-handed meant it was a total non-starter. Then after separating from my wife, I kept thinking if ever there was an opp to pursue my dream before it was too late, it was now. So I went for it.

Like gness I do find the level of work involved, & the clean-up exhausting. At the end of every shoot I always think 'never again'. But oh..the satisfaction of seeing a piece of creative work through from end to end. Writing a script, casting it (and getting to cast some of your fave models) filming and directing it, and then editing it. There is so much creative joy there and so the feelings of 'never again' never last. The very next day, I am planning the next films and how they can be better than the last

As gness says, I have been very lucky with every model I have ever filmed. I am sure there must be vacuous or shallow models out there in the same way there are vacuous and shallow people in every walk of life, but thus far every model I have worked with has been just wonderful, helpful, interesting and lovely. To get to film with legends like Pandora Blake, Messy Jessie et al is just terrific.

I've been a WAM fan since 2000, but I didn't take the plunge to do my own WAM shoots until July 2008. Mainly because Brisbane is a very conservative town and quite tight-knit, and most girls feel freaked out at the thought of doing WAM fetish stuff with the exception of a few models who are a bit more open minded than others.

I've had a lot of fun with doing WAM shoots, but at the same time I believe in maintaining a sense of professionalism whilst shooting even though I'm not doing it for money. You've got to make sure the model feels safe and happy with doing what she is doing above all. If she does, the shoot will go down great!

I recently had a model hit on me. It was kinda awkward for me. But that's mostly because I imagine all possible ways things can go wrong. One thing I am terrified of is getting slapped with sexual harassment.

Ah.. I love that old primitive internet terminology: Usenet Newsgroups, Compuserve, bulletin board. Such nostalgia from 1992. I actually have 3 minutes of videotape from 1992 of my dearly departed mother (who was in bad shape physically by then) sitting in front of our very first 1985 IBM personal computer, connected to the internet of that day with the non-GUI on screen. That was 2 years before my father bought our family's first video camcorder in 1994. In 1992, he rented some C-type videotape camcorder just to record our mother & worldly possessions from our house which we moved out of the next year.

I learned very quickly to not mix business and my personal life (not counting the amateur porn I make with my partner of 8 years). I've seen others do it and it rarely ends well. Plus once you get know as "that guy who sleeps with his models" or "that model who bangs photographers" it's hard to distance yourself from that reputation.

That would imply that my models talk. I've been doing this for 2 years, and only 2 applicants have said "hey, I'm a friend of this other guy who you filmed.". I guess when you live in a rural part of a southern American state, being in gay quazi porn isn't the kind of thing one chats about at the dinner table.

I'm one of those "on the edge of becoming a producer" people. Unfortunately, that means I'm still in the "haven't done anything, and just complains about other people's work" section. I've commissioned a video once before, but it still didn't turn out to be what I wanted. If I push myself, I could see me becoming a producer, but there's some planning I need to do first.

1. I need to write out and finalize scripts, with camera angles plotted.

2. I need to find an actress or two and rehearse with her/them until I'm sure she/they can play her/their part/s perfectly without me guiding her/them while we're rolling.

3. I need a proper set to film on.

4. I need to learn how to expertly edit video.

5. I need to learn how to set up a site to sell my videos.


I could do all of these things, but the invest of time and money has to date kept me scared and lazy. To those who have done it and continue to produce, I salute you (but I'm still going to be super critical of your work).

I stopped doing videos because:

> I did not want the making of these types of videos to take over my life or mind (I make plenty of other kinds of videos)

For me, I would LOVE to become a producer!! I actually have been seriously considering it. In fact, I sponsored a pie video that didn't end up working out too well, as I didn't shoot it. I was going to redo it as the model told me she was willing to do it again with me shooting it myself but the model ended up flaking on me!!

I for one really enjoy seeing a women getting pied, but would love to be the one pieing her, and deciding how many pies she gets hit with and where as it would be so satisfying!!!! I know that in today's world it is really hard to even break even when you are paying for the model, travel expenses, and all the pies, but I don't really care. I would still love to one day produce my own WAM video. I just have to find a good shooting location, and a non flaky model, and I'm there!!!

... that's a good question I ask myself in despair sometimes

For me there were several reasons:

First of all I didn't get (exactly) what I wanted...
... I am a bit of a perfectionist and love detail. And this was soemthing my WAM ego demanded more and more and probably didn't find in the way I wanted to find it. Detail in the sense certain aspects of WAM, like fahionable clothing and wet or messy hair. For a long time I've been a consumer and a big fan of Rob Blain, MK and all the other pioneers of WAM and don't get me wrong there's a lot of those details in many of their productions, but oftentimes I thought, why didn't the camera-guy get any closer to the model and focus on her hair ... why didn't he change the camera angle, why couldn't he use better lighting so the image or video wasn't so grainy ... since blaiming them for their great work would be pointless, I started to think that if I want to see those details, I will have to capture them myself. And detail is also why I allways liked still-images more than movies ... they can provide much higher detail and they give you the time to discover those details.

Secondly, the availabiliy of digital cameras started everything for me. My first one was an Olympus D-340L Initially I started to look for places and circumstances where there was a good chance to find a women getting wet in public ... so I would look for fountains in summer (Munich was a very nice place for this) or whenever there was a thunderstorm approaching on a hot summer day I hit the street and tried to make as much shots as possible ... with pretty lame results because as soon as the thunderstorm is there, daylight diminishes and the digicams back then were not capable of handling this. Images were shaky because of long shutter times and dind't have a lot of detail. So I began to learn how to improve quality, learning a lot about photography in general. So when I finished my studies and started to work a lot of my money went into better camera gear. First still better consumer cams, but soon I jumped onto the DSLR wagon.

But still I was far away from producing WAM material that I could offer for sale. The town where I studied and had my first job was small so the chance that my fetish would become transparent was too high of a risk for me. The game changer was my move to our capital a city of almost 2 million people. There I experienced the anonymity that made me feel more confident and it was way easier to find models. Also being away from friends and family gave me the time to conentrate more on photography. That's where I decided to give it a shot.
But how would I get those models interested in being messed up or doing wetlook shoots that matched my imagination of the ideal WAM model? Without a reputation as a photographer and without a lot of cash, you won't get your dream girl wet or messy So building my reputation as a photographer was the first big thing for me to do. So I did a lot of TFP (=Time for prints) shoots in order to get a nice portfolio which makes it easier to get models interested. Also this helped greatly to improve my skills. And of course I aleready did some wet and messy shoots then, without the intent of putting them up for sale. Some of my early work will never be seen in my shop because I don't have the necessary model release.

However from the beginning I enhanced my photographer portfolio with some of my WAM works and funny enough, whenever a model asked me if I would like to do a shooting with her and I asked her which of my photos would point the direction for the shoot with her, I'd say 90% of the models were interested in doing a wetlook shoot. I discovered a certain curiosity of many models in getting wet or messy in front of a camera

The last step however was that I realized I needed to fund my hobbie at least partly by selling what I produced. I had a simple plan. Apart from my initial photographic equipment on the long run I didn't want to spend any private money but pay for everything needed with the revenues I earned. So the UMD-Shop was my starting point (so a big thanks to Messmaster!) because it was free of charge to start. So my first sets featured two models (Bea & Ines) that were ok to appear on a site like the UMD and with whom I still work up till today. Being a internet professional myself, starting my own website and online shop was my last milestone to really get going.

I am still and forever will be a one man show, meaning I recruit models, do the photography and filming, do the editing and postproduction and maintain my website. After a little more than 3 years and almost 80 shootings I know why I decided to become a producer and at the same time I oftentimes ask myself, why on earth did you become a producer
