I've got a shoot coming up and the model is vegan and so is only happy to work with vegan supplies.
I've no problem working around this but not being a vegan myself (and apologies if this come across as idiotic) but does vegan custard and ice cream have the same consistency as it's dairy counterpart?
Does anyone have any pics/vids of it in use? Also, can anyone recommend good brands or where to buy in bulk as my local wholesaler doesn't appear to stock it.
I didn't even know vegan custard was a thing, I imagine it'll be quite a bit pricier than the cow juice version.
I've shot with varying levels of vegan models, some were happy to use custard as long as not required to eat it, others only wanted to use vegan substances.
Vegan substances we used:
# Baked beans
# Black treacle
# Golden syrup
# Mud
# TV gunge
At first I thought tomato soup would also count but as it's usually "cream of tomato soup" it has milk in it.
No idea how it sticks or anything, but I've heard of vegan whipped cream being made from aquafaba (the liquid in a can of chickpeas, apparently it has qualities similar to egg whites?)

Ann Reardon on How To Cook That on YouTube has a recipe for vegan macaroons using aquafaba. Depending on how long you cook it, it can be somewhere from a meringue to a macaroon.
I have a Dairy milk allergy. All the major supermarkets have a Free From Aisle. There's vegan whipped cream, custard, ice cream, chocolate spread or you can buy packets to make stuff like batter . Best thing to do is check the ingredients on the back. Hope this helps
