Still the best big service out there if you want to keep your content PG-13 or R-rated.
I'm in the process of moving over to Vast.ai and running GPUs with open-source models. I was really hoping to keep using Grok for building LoRAs for images and video.
Lately though, the "Quality" image generation has a pretty strict limit that I hit really fast (it's usually the first one I run into). Even the "Fast" tier has limits now -- I hit that for the first time this past Sunday.
I normally use 480p for experimentation and 720p for final renders. For the last three days straight, 480p has been drying up very quickly. It's pretty frustrating, especially with a Supergrok account.
Anyone else running into these new limits lately, especially over the past week or two?
The images below are some of the videos I was creating tonight, until I hit my "limit" in my unlimited account.
Yep, so that sort of thing has a term that's now in the Oxford English Dictionary: enshittification. The business model works thus: First, be good to your users. Once they're in, make the experience worse for users to benefit advertisers. Then finally once they're in, make it worse for everyone to profit for yourself. Couple this with the fact that every AI is losing millions and propped up by speculator money and you can expect Grok to go steadily downhill from now on.
Yep, I just recently returned to Grok after a few months away from AI, and gutted to discover that, even with a SuperGrok paid account as you say, I'm hitting limits much, much earlier. I used to be able to churn out constant iterations and variations for hours before hitting a restriction, and even then it was a vague 'try again later' which I could bypass after a short breather. Now after maybe a few dozen goes (which passes quickly when trying to get WAM physics just right!) I'm locked out for like 20 hours as a hard restriction.
I feel I was lucky to have squeezed so much out of it during its earlier glory days, a shame that it isn't quite as good now, and an upgrade to SuperGrok Heavy is just out of the question in regards to cost. Would be great to find something that matches the old Grok capability!
About the same here. I have been a member a couple of months ago, recently joined again and was very disappointed of the low generation limits.
Asking the Grok chatbot it confirmed that limits are low at the moment and can change from day to day without notice. But it started to argument about it when I called it a rip-off
Sick me - I'm thinking about the Grok Heavy for a few months just to take it on a test run. If I can get over my trust issues.
Still think it can't be beat for cost-effective, uncensored prototyping and final runs at 720p.
Yeah, it's still a fantastic generation tool for WAM content! If you do jump on SuperGrok Heavy, I'd be curious to know how you get on with the supposed higher rate limits on it, and whether the experience becomes akin to the old level of possible output
Grok said (to my surprise) that I was out of my mind. At the price of Grok Heavy, two SuperGrok accounts would be the most cost effective option and get me to almost Grok Heavy use limits.
Quite frankly, my dumb ass didn't even think of that.
Just got done using A2E.AI for WAN 2.7 generations on a few scenes I needed to finish my latest video. Doesn't even compare! Those suckers at Grok know they have the bees knees as far as image and video generation. But at some point, xAI needs to stop losing $1.5 B a year and generate some profit.
