Ah, a classic. Brings back memories of the Hurley and WAMTEC cliptapes. (On VHS!! )
For a while there it seemed impossible to find a WAMTEC tape without The Great Race with Natalie Wood, Tommy with Ann-Margaret, That Girl with Marlo Thomas, or Love American Style....

I kinda miss Hurley's stuff, but with the super lack of regular wam on TV anymore it would be hard to have cliptapes like that with new material.
I love this scene. My favorite part is when the pie fight is in full swing and one of the ladies grabs another pie with intention of pieing the other woman. She smugly calls "oh, Susan..", but Susan reacts too quickly and smashes her own pie into her face. The turnabout makes it much more humiliating and funny.
I have heard, but cannot confirm, that in the original episode, there was a shorter, lead-up clip in which a guy, at a pie stand, gets pied 3 times as a way to taste the pies.
(Sigh) As embarrassing as a lot of this could be, i really dream of getting to be a part of this with some girls, but how does one even go about creating/recreating such a thing?

Ditto. Wish producers would use this gag more often.

From what I understand, you are correct. Have never found it online though. Would love to see it!
That is correct. I saw it when it was first aired. The actress with the pie stand is Phyllis Davis. The guy is Stuart Margolin. It's a short scene. Margolin approaches the pie stand where Ms. Davis is working. Margolin points to one pie, which Ms. Davis picks up, and smears it in Margolins face. Margolin shakes his head no, and points to another pie. Again, Ms. Davis picks up the pie, and smashes it in Margolins face, who again shakes his head no. After Ms. Davis plants a third pie in Margolins face, he finally nods yes, and leaves. I've been looking for it online for years, but can't find it.

Bring the girls together and get them in a food fight
It's probably just the much higher resolution, but I can't help but feel the stills from this scene make it look better significantly better than it really was...
Does anyone here recall one of these episodes where the plot was about a rich girl who winds up being pursed by a poor guy who (if I recall correctly) takes her on a date in a rented limo trying to impress her, she is wearing a white tennis outfit, and they wind up having a picnic and it starts raining. The limo gets stuck in the mud, he tries to push it out and cannot do it by himself so she gets out and helps push, of course they both wind up covered in mud together and he is all upset thinking he blew his one chance at impressing her but she winds up laughing about the situation and falls for him in the end anyway? I remember seeing it back then (a pretty early WAM memory but the pretty blonde girl in the white outfit having fun playing in the mud with the guy REALLY stuck with me) but I haven't seen it since and this show doesn't seem to do the rerun circuit all that much.
Anyone else remember that episode, or know where to find it?

I can also confirm this, having seen it when the "Baker's Half Dozen" episode was rerun that summer. LAS used these as "bumpers" or fillers to help make the shows come out to correct lengths.
Years after this originally aired "Love American Style" re ran on a local station where I went to school. My WAM friend Jen saw it and became "obsessed" with the "pie/cake sandwich" part near the end. We never actually did it beyond the typical pie sandwich but she always wanted to do those bakery plate things.

Sounds like a good scene to recreate with a pretty lady on the receiving end

Oh, no, it was quite good, if too many men. The hits are squarely in their faces, the coverage is good, there's plenty of reaction time, and there are multiple hits. The TV Guide feature (when it reran) shows "baker" Alan Suess (of Laugh-In fame) getting pied after the filming ended, and says the baker's love interest also got pied, but I've never seen a photo of that.
I always love the over-the-top feigned apologies after a girl gets hit with a pie, just like in this clip at 11:40 when Susan gets pied and the guy who pied her is like "Ohhh, I'm SOOO SORRY! I really didn't mean it... Ohhhh..." but all the while he's basically taking the chance to admire her pied face and rub in all the mess. There's something both extra humiliating about that for the victim, and extra sort of sensual about it for the pie thrower. Don't know what it is.
I remember when I was a kid I watched some movie where a woman had two "humiliation" moments, one where she was near a pool and walked on to the diving board and it snaps, dropping her in the pool, and then I think later in the same movie some accident befalls her car and it is crushed in front of her, and in both cases there was some guy saying "Ohhh DEAR, how humiliating for you" really slowly and deliberately drawn out. It just adds to the humiliation. Love it!
