I have been on UMD for almost 10 years now. But now is the time for me to seriously become a producer and upload content to this site.
Last time i came here i saw something about US taxation even though i live in the UK. Can soneone please clarify this to me and any forms i need to fill out please.
As a producer what do you usually earn approx with a typical messy video? I see some views on some videos like 3000 views selling for around $19 a download. Are they really making around $27,000 a video if this is the case?
Any other tips for a wam producer would be greatly appreciated.
Don't do it for the sole purpose of making money - because you will be very disappointed indeed.
Online interest is no indicator of potential sales. The people who do all the talking on the forum posts are rarely the ones whose names you'll see against the sales sheet (although some set this to anonymous) The only (very loose) correlation I've observed is that around 0.5 and 1% of the forum interest in views will return in sales.
Producers are cagey about revealing the actual numbers because they are generally so astonishingly small - even for the bigger players.
My own experience:
Initial sales usually represent the biggest flurry and (when I had a much bigger catalogue) I also noticed that a new release would encourage further sales (often greater than the new title!) of older titles.
I sell a 20 minute clip for about $12-14. That's enough to ensure it will make its money back and a little more in the first few weeks. Sales tail off after 10 days or so and continue to do so until you release another title.
I've noticed that selling a film for less doesn't guarantee a greater number of sales. So get the price right. Even with the market saturated as it is - there's always hunger for more, new stuff and you'll always get sales with popular models people find attractive.
You will make next to no money. That is a reality of it. You do it for the fun, and the income basically is a bonus. We made a small profit, but by the time you factor in HOURS of preparation (unboxing, decanting, taping up, goo-proofing, camera's etc), you are working for about 0.34p and hour
I can't remember how many videos we sold, but it was way less than 100 for any particular video. You don't make say $19 dollars a video either. After 'fees', it kinda halves at least.
But, it's fun. That is why I want to return (hubby, you reading this? )
Hope you do have a go. The more gooey content on here, the better.
And please remember any vids you do can get uploaded to these 3rd party sites and you could lose a lot of money. Also people trade clips and basically wipe their butts with any copyright protections.

Yes. You either need to decide that the pirating doesn't bother you, and just accept it. Or, spend many hours issuing DMA take-down notices (that often don't work)
It's just part of it.
It part of the reason I am having so much trouble getting my hubby Steve back on board with new movies. He can't be arsed with the constant sweeping of the porn sites for our stuff. Doesn't bother me so much, but it bothers him.
MANY people in here share our videos. Steve has a short list of UMD users (some of whom have contacted me lately about our new stuff) who we are 99% sure share out our videos illegally after buying them. Would be great if we could prevent those people buying the videos, but it's just not possible.

Oh, man. Now you are making feel GUILTY for having this fetish!

Awww, don't feel guilty for having this fetish! Just appreciate that we don't do it for any kind of profit
I'm grateful if I make back expenses on a video because that means I'll be able to afford to make another once sooner.
OTOH, even though it was a lot of work, our last filming session was a freakin' BLAST for everyone involved and they all want to do it again. So, it's always worth it!
I'm going to change the opinion of a few on here as yes I do it for the fun enough enjoy doing it for a mini years and I've built up a very large following and have amassed a large collection of downloads that are available To say its all for fun would be a lie but the money can be very rewarding if you get it right Obviously you have to keep adding to your content very regular to keep the interest going As well as myself there are a few very successful producers here I've probably been here as long as I have that are doing very well from this and have turned into a business but it's not without hard work and it's not something you're ever going to do on your own Lucky for me my partner is my producer and has been for many years so though he does more of the technical side of stuff and also goes out and finds the locations that we plan to use for the year I just kind of turn up at the end and do my thing or at least that's what most people think When the cameras are not rolling this is a very fun way engaging with your partner and it's very often what we end up doing once we finished shooting as we have both been fans of the messy side of life for a very long time in fact it's how we met So don't be put off but please understand there is a lot of work involved and in all honesty the more content you've got the more downloads you should achieve and if you're one of the lucky few which I am as well as a few others on here you can do very well out of it along after I retire I could still be releasing videos for a good couple of years for stuff that we haven't even put up For download yet
As a male producer I knew I would not make much if any money doing this, but thats NOT why i due it. I love getting messy pure and simple, I love large messes and messy stunts, Playing messy games and such. What ever I due make is just a little extra toward the next session. I always try to mess on budget as well. You don't have to break the bank so to speak to have messy fun. Also if you are going to try and due this to earn a living Please plan Ahead Financially and have a fall back option. By no means am I discouraging giving it a go, But It will require A LOT of work and results can be slow. SO , Go out there , take chances , make mistakes and GET MESSY!!!!!!
