Not gonna lie, I clicked on this expecting to see some dumb fake or just a lookalike. But nope, that is Katy Perry getting pied in the face. And it's a very good pie in the face. I'm a little shocked at how not disappointed I am.
Update: There is a behind the scenes video for this. Designer Jeremy Scott appears to be the one who threw the pie and he posted a video of it on his Instagram.
Katy has been a splosher for quite a while in my mind. Paint fight party, jumping in a cake, Nickelodeon. I for one hope to see more from here - but she did look better as a brunette!

Also inb4 the conspiracy theorists: "Is that really here? That's not really her. That's CGI. That's a fake. Fuck you for posting a fake. I bet you believe everything the government tells you."
Just curious if there are people out there like me where the fact that it's a "celebrity" involved in a WAM scene does absolutely nothing to spike their interest?
If a regular on here had dressed up and looked exactly like Katy and took the exact same lone pie, I would've given it the same half second of attention I did after looking at the Katy pics.
I don't mean to be negative, i'm just curious if being a celebrity helps things. To me it's still about the quality of the scene and this didn't do anything for me.

I think what helps for me more than Katy being super-famous is the fact that she's very much in control of her career, she's got a lot of power and fame, and she very deliberately CHOSE to do a photoshoot where she has someone smack her in the face with a pie.
She's promoting a new album, sure, but it's not like this is a way to really shift units or anything. I mean, I'm sure some outrageously cleavage bearing pics would've grabbed more attention in the wide world outside of WAM. She's probably not an actual wammer, but she clearly thinks getting messy is a blast.* It's not like she's a paid model/actress in someone's fetish video or a paid model/actress in a TV show or movie or music video getting paid to take a pie.
*There have been way too many instances over the past decade for this not to be the case. Beyond all the things we've seen from TV clips and music videos, it used to be reported in the news with some frequency that she'd been responsible for multiple cake fights and I believe even a paint fight or two at posh private parties she's thrown.
Also, c'mon, this a DAMN good pie hit. [See Figure 1-A below.]
Now you say you're focused only on the "quality" of a scene, but of course that's entirely subjective. If you demand MANY pies to hit a woman for it to be a quality scene, then no of course this doesn't give you that. If you are okay with a single pie but require a crust and/or filling, or if you strongly prefer shaving cream pies to actual whipped cream ones, or if you only dig self-pies, or if you only want to see the target pied by another woman or under psychologically humiliating circumstances or if (like former WAM producer Noise) you insist it can't be a good pieing when there's a pie tin involved in any way ... then no, this isn't going to be a "quality" work for you.
I do think that, for some of us who grew up just hoping to see the occasional single pie to a pretty face on TV (maybe one or two a year if we were lucky!), a first and only pie can be enough to be satisfying. When it comes to WAM videos, I know it's not financially workable, but my favorite m.o. is that of PieJinx, from whom one purchase gave you half a dozen very short skits, each with the model going from completely clean to very well creamed with a single pie (i.e. blackout skits).

No, you're right. My mind shuts down the more famous the celebrity. I can hear all the groans now over "there's no pleasing this guy".

I am always intrigued by the celebrity aspect. Watching the guy (who I realize was just doing his job for the promotional event), you still got the sense that he was thinking, "Am I really about to throw a pie in Katy Perry's face?!" Most people would show deference to a star, and throwing a pie in her face sort of obliterates that. By doing this, the star shows a great sense of vulnerability. These pop stars are all about image, and when you watch her videos (like "Firework") there's a power to that image. I love the juxtaposition of that with a pie in the face. I like the way she just stood there with that confident smile and only started to flinch as the pie was about to hit her face.
Watching this, I would LOVE to see some kind of charity fundraising event get started where pop singers and actors allow the highest bidder to put a pie in their face, publicly. Putting all politics aside, I would love to see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez participate in something like this. I bet a lot of people would love to walk up to a prominent person like that and throw a pie in their face. As shows like the Brazilian "Chega Mais" demonstrate, there is a special kind of pleasure and liberation that guys seem to get out of doing the "unthinkable": pieing a beautiful woman.

I am the opposite and really can't explain why. I buy clips from great producers here quite a bit, but nothing gets me as revved up as a good mainstream clip. That is how I got into this fetish-- way back before I knew what sex was. Watching early 70s variety shows and seeing pies in the face and hoping, just hoping, this time it would be a pretty girl getting pied. Again, inexplicable. To this day I haunt Youtube looking for mainstream clips. I had a bunch of Hurley and Wamtec cliptapes-- now mouldering in my attic. Someone above might have hit on it. The people in mainstream clips are not doing it for the fetish. Why that matters I don't know. For the record, if Katy Perry was pied in connection with some skit on a variety show it would have upped my interest 100 fold. Sometimes I will be watching TV and they will show some actress and I will think to myself, "She has taken a pie in the face," and I can recall the scene and smile.

I have this same reaction when I see certain actresses as well. Wish I could explain why...But when I see Sarah Shahi, Brenda Song, whoever, I always recall their pie-ing.

I love to believe she's a wammer. Only Orlando Bloom knows for sure.
Glad I'm not the only one who saw the first post who had the quick initial reaction this was a fake, up until looking at it closer. Hopefully a full video comes out with more reaction, but this is great for what it is.
On the topic of her being a wammer and getting sexually aroused by this -- is the general consensus that Soupy Sales was also a hardcore wammer and jerking it off discretely every time White Fang would pie him or one of his male guests?
Obviously that is the clear case, right? I mean, it can't be that people are simply in the Entertainment business and skew their form of entertainment to younger audiences that might get a non-sexual kick out of this. Not even possible. Sorry I even brought such a weird almost conspiratorial theory up like that, it's just so utterly ridiculous. No, clearly it's always sexual...
