This will be my last comment on this topic, but it should be reiterated again that the onus should not be on any content creators (especially not people starring in the vids they put out) to have to contend with someone illegally sharing their scenes elsewhere. It being "inevitable" doesn't make it okay or make any feelings of betrayal of trust invalid, especially not within a niche community. Anyone filming themselves is well-aware of how vulnerable they're making themselves online and they hardly need to be reminded of that when their content gets shared without their fucking permission.

From talking to her/from her IG page, she always knew it was a risk, but she had warned months ago that she would be gone if her stuff leaked out. It's less surprise on her end than it is disappointment. While also wanting to stick to her word so that people know she was serious about it.

I don't know how much help it would do in this situation, but every instance of pirating takes us one step farther away from having ownership of media be the default again. I love the MP4 collection I've been curating for almost 20 years and would love to continue adding producer content to it for the foreseeable future. But if more platforms put in a system where we could only ever "buy" streaming rights with no ability to download or transfer media to other devices, can we really blame them?

I was shocked to read this thread this morning and have thought about it ever since. Simply put, this in nothing sheer disrespect. Bratty trusted members here to not do this and it happened. I do not purchase any videos on here but hers would have been some i would have bought. I adored Bratty! She is a good lady and loved to have fun on here with each of us. Now she's gone for who knows how long. I enjoyed out chats however brief they were b/c I understood she could not be here all day. I loved her comments on my photos and will certainly miss her and hopes she comes back soon.

Soooo if any of us have a life whatsoever we shouldn't be able to express ourselves sexually? Of course she knew there was some risk. You know that you posting on here and having a profile is a risk too, right? It's still devastating to have it happen and stumble across your own material on some porn site. And you have no idea what her thought process is so not really yours to decide what actions she should take. Also wondering how quickly the conversation would change if all of UMD data got leaked and all the customers got exposed.

Revenue is secondary to one's principles. She said it clear as day that if there ever came the time it happened, her content and her store was going bye bye and good for her! I wouldn't put it past her to shut her OF down as well and if people keep pushing it, I hope she does. I salute her for standing by her laurels and following through. Maybe if more producers did the same, it would send a clear message that this shit is unacceptable.
Whether or not she was aware of the risks or not is irrelevant. It is her content. It is her image and if you fail to respect her work by spilling it on the internet knowing full well what it costs producers to make this stuff, well, don't be surprised when they say "fuck this!" and close up shop. There comes a certain point where the reward isn't worth the effort and if people continue making things harder for producers to continue making content by violating the rights to their material, image or likeness, I don't want to hear it when more shut stores down and people never see any improvement in content quality.

My heart goes out to Bratty Shortcakes, so sorry that she had to deal with this. Good for her for standing up for herself. Imagine the data if everyone who had something leaked put all those ID numbers together and could come up with some culprits. It wouldn't solve everything and nothing probably ever will. But it could identify some who continuously do it. But other than that- I'm at a loss. Some pirate free trailers (which is mind boggling) or super discounted material so making content cheaper (if we even can bc that's a whole other convo about how expensive all this is) doesn't seem to be the answer. Raising prices may seem to work although Bratty talked to some asshat on insta today who said he trades content bc it's too expensive otherwise. So ya. There's no winning. And I can't come up with better solutions.

What if every clip bought had a dynamically-inserted watermark that includes the username of the original purchaser? Or at the very least, the exact timestamp of the purchase? The watermark would be small enough so as to not distract from the clip, but it would also move around the frame as the video played, so it couldn't be easily cropped out (think TikTok watermarks).
This system could be built and it doesn't have to be super-expensive, though it might mean some quality of life changes for UMD shoppers.
This wouldn't stop piracy of UMD-sourced content, but it would significantly increase the barrier to entry and effort required to pirate content anonymously. It can be done. I'm happy to help.

Report the piracy here: https://umd.net/contact/label/piracy . Do not use the tube site to report it.
That will notify producers and they will issue a dmca takedown.
If you don't remember the name, don't worry about it. Don't ask for people here to identify it. Just give your best effort, Especially for producers that you enjoy the most and want to see them continue here. There is nothing stopping them from retiring, shutting down here, and even removing all of their content.

Can we do better at telling models of the risks? I don't think that's a mystery. The mystery is the fact that people will claim to love a community and it's creators while going above and beyond to ruin it for everyone for internet clout from strangers on a tube site.

I'd missed that, I thought she was taken by surprise that piracy of scenes was a thing at all, hence wondering if newbies should be warned it might happen. It's one of the things I warn all new models here about, that once images are out there, they are there forever, because pirates.
I gather now in fact she knew all about it and had set it as a line in the sand.

Agree completely. Sadly I don't see it stopping any time soon. Technical solutions are not the solution, because anything technical can be worked round - what's needed is a paradigm shift in how people, globally, think, from "I'll take what I can get" to "I'll respect creators and chose not to rip them off", and that's part of a much larger cultural shift that will take generations to achieve.
Something I came to realise some years ago, customers buy not because producers make it hard to steal, but because customers are decent people and willing to pay for content even though they could steal it instead. Yay for the good people, which is probably a message that needs to be transmitted harder.

Only caught on this now. A friend of mine who works in content creation, they watermark their content, but also to identify if anyone is stealing it, they add something subtle to illustrate the source and in essence get the thief.
As people have been sadly stealing for years with content creation, my friend regularly has to work with people and help address this problem, but feel like it is hurting a lot of people, so can sympathise with bratty and everyone in here affected and could be a suggestion for anyone if feel worried about content being stolen is adopt a similar matter and allows you to pinpoint the thieves in this regard.

There's definitely a way to do it. I've bought some videos from Clippershave, and when I watch them, my name is a small watermark that jumps around the screen every few seconds. If I were to share that video illegally, it would literally have my full name written all over it as having been the one to share it, and he could match that up with the transaction records and take the appropriate actions. And since it jumps around, you couldn't just crop it out. I'm sure someone with a lot of know-how could figure out how to completely get rid of it, but the general public wouldn't. It's kind of annoying, but I'm sure there's a way to make it less intrusive.
We got tired of banging out take-down requests and its the main reason we stopped making videos.
I still have to send them out to this day.
There is a HUGE amount of content from in here out there... that website is pretty bad, but by far not the worst. I know of quite a lot of full UMD content out there, but quite a lot is hidden as it's not under a keyword with regards to messy/wet, so it's difficult to find.
I have a list of people in here who pirate stuff (yes you donkeys, there is a way to find out who you are), and some of them are stupid enough to use the same name out there and they do in here.
We looked into a system where a specific download number was shown on the video once in every 25 frames. If you ran the clip through a frame by frame software editor, you could retrieve the number.
But then, you have to 'burn' each sold video individually with a number and track who you sold it to.
And even then.... what are you going to do about it? Highly doubt that would stand up in court.
