Nothing and why would it? I'm not made of steel. Simple science from the 7th grade would tell you this without an experiment. The saddest thing about all of this nonsense is how many people put crap like this over anything they supposedly once learned.
"We live in an age exquisitely dependent on science and technology in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology." - Carl Sagan
This vaccine was created using the same science that this computer was created with. It's the same science that grows crops, makes jet engines, iPhones, and different colors of paint. Simple math such as 2+2=4 is the same science, the same fundamental law of the universe, as the speed of light or gravity. It's science. Bullshit created by clever people to fool hysterical morons on the internet is not science. It's just ghost stories made up to scare you like the stuff you probably heard as a kid. Same thing. Yet supposed adults fall for it now because it's coming from YouTube, the golden idol of moron worship, instead of a nine year old friend in the attic. How did we ever get out of the dark ages? Oh yeah, no internet.
Just got my 2nd moderna vaccine and so far my arm hurts and I left me with a headache at the back of my head, but so far no symptoms but I have a feeling they will happen later on tonight and the next day.
Just because someone is a respected nurse or doctor does not mean they are educated. I spent 4 hours talking with a friend of mine educating them about the vaccine after their sister, a nurse filled them full of all the bullshit floating out there from such respected outlets as Fox news. We are living in a time when science is ignored and bullshit "news" is believed and spread as fact. Just because they went to medical school does not mean that they still have the same brains now that they did then. Or that they remember the classes on infectious diseases. A lot of the "information" available on the internet is taken from people who do not use science to back their opinions and use feelings or pseudo science. A PHD or the term Dr does not mean you should be quoted for articles. Also, fuck the media for not requiring proof of statements made. Why do we put up with such lazy ass reporting???
The infotainment industry is free to say whatever they want. If the audience were more discriminating we might still have something resembling reporters and not personalities. My late father-in-law, a physician of some standing and reputation, used to point out that "50% of all doctors finished in the bottom half of their class." They are not all the same and some are just as much in a popularity contest as the media.

Believe me, it's nothing of me to be proud of. I think we ALL can amaze ourselves if sit and think back about all our accomplishments and all the trials & tribulations we've suffered for a moment and surprise ourselves with the totality of what we've been through.
I bow down to YOU for your amazing FACT-checking & FACT-spreading.

Most importantly, practicing doctors and nurses is NOT the same activity as medical research. Medical research (the activity, not what multiple titles a person holds) is the activity of proving what is, what works, how nature is. Treating patients (what doctors and nurses are supposed to do) is NOT involved in proving what works. This activity is supposed to take the knowledge obtained from medical research and apply it to the patients.
Yeah, I've heard even a nurse or two and a doctor or two spout what I know is scientific bullshit. Nevertheless, I give them a pass - nobody's perfect - given the incredible amount that they do know, that surprises me, that I didn't know, never heard of, before.
dalamar666 said: I would rather have reporters than personalities. Just like I would rather have meteorologists as weathermen rather than anchors as weathermen.
Although I would LOVE to have Anchorman (Will Ferrell) as anchorman!
It's amazing how 12 people can convince millions that medical researchers, scientists, and other people that dedicate their lives to their research, are either lying, or flat out wrong.
If you don't want the vaccine, whatever, nobody will convince you otherwise. Just don't ask me for sympathy if you get sick.
Dawamman said: 2. Why can you still catch and pass on the 'coronavirus' after having the jab?
To add to Duncan's very eloquent takedown of this: The vaccines don't make you totally immune, it's too infectious for that. What they do is to make sure your body knows how to fight it off. This means if you do run into it you get rid of it faster and with far less risk.
Without the vaccines, get infected, and a) you are liable to get a very heavy infection as it will spread rapidly in your body before your immune system learns to start fighting back. You will probably end up in hospital, you may end up in a coffin. b) anyone you infect after you catch it but before you get sick will get a very heavy 'viral load' because of the amount of it in the droplets you're breathing out or coughing out.
With the vaccine, even if you then get Covid it will be much milder, you may feel sick for a few days, you may have to take time off work and stay in bed. But you're much less likely to end up dead. And because your body already knows how to recognise it and so starts fighting it the instant it appears, there'll also be much less of it in exhaled droplets, so anyone you infect will get a much lighter dose that's easier for them to fight off, especially if they've also been vaccinated.
Ok, so all the replies to my message on this forum have been quite harsh.
Duncan, I understand that the Internet can be full of crap, but to chastise what I'm writing is all bullshit and that you presume I get my information from YouTube and/or other non trustworthy website and then follow up your prroof by posting a web address is very contradictory in what your saying.
I'm very sceptical of all the rediculous measures the government are setting to eradicate the danger of this pandemic, they just don't make sense and I'm trying to gather as much information as I can to make a life changing decision.
Why can you go to a restaurant and not wear a mask when you are sitting down, but you have to wear it to the table and if you want to get up to use the WC? Doesn't make sense.
Why are you only aloud to meet with 1 other house hold, yet you can go to the pub and meet friends from more than 1 household without a mask? Doesn't make sense.
Why are the most prone poeple to catching the disease exempt from wearing masks and are not getting any help from the government ?
Why are there no biohazard bins around for disposing of used masks?
Correct me please and point me in the righ direction, but as far as I'm aware, neither Boris Johnson or Matt Hancock have had the vaccine
i asked the question about the magnet because I have seen blogs and videos of people putting a magnet over the area were they had the jab and it stuck to their arm (I don't know if it's true or false, I asked the question here to find out)
Why is the media not broadcasting the side effects and death figures due to the jab?
Why was COVID 19 down graded from a noteafiable disease to a non noteafiable disease in the new coronavirus law?
Why did the UK and countries around the world order 100's of thousands coronavirus test kits in 2016,2017 and 2018?
Please don't jump down my throat about the questions I'm asking, all I'm after is more information about what the fuck is going on, a simple 'just take the vaccine you prick' ain't helping.
If you're unhappy with my reply, I apologise in advance and I will leave this discussion.
I enjoy being a member of the website and never want to upset anyone.

Yeah I think maybe you should do just a little research about something before posting. COVID refers to the Coronavirus Disease. Every year there are new Coronavirus Diseases discovered this one discovered in 2019 was named after the year, hence COVID-19. Hell there are episodes of Law and Order that reference Coronavirus almost a decade ago. The common cold was listed in the 60s as Human Coronavirus OC43. The SARS outbreak from back in 2002 was originally called SARS-CoV AKA SARS Coronavirus.
Dawamman said: Duncan, I understand that the Internet can be full of crap...
The evidence would suggest otherwise.
Nobody is jumping down your throat or being harsh, we're simply showing you how you are wrong. You are wrong with such determined skill that we can only surmise you are either a troll, not too bright, or intentionally spreading FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Distrust). None of these is a flattering possibility.
Correct me please and point me in the right direction, but as far as I'm aware, neither Boris Johnson or Matt Hancock have had the vaccine
And here is a great example. One has to question your motives with a concern that is so quickly and easily put to bed. Front and center in the BBC - "Covid vaccine: PM receives AstraZeneca jab as he urges public to do same" - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56462555
And it likewise follows for everything else you mention. You're free to say whatever you want but if everything you bring up is so easily disputed or answered with simple facts then your posts are going to appear suspect.

It's very simple, you can't eat or drink with a mask on. Keeping the economy shut down until the disease had been wholy eradicated (or absoloutely everyone has been vaccinated against it) isn't possible. People who work in the pub trade still need to earn a living, and the public wants to get back to something resembling normality. So now that infection rates have reduced and there's less risk of the hospitals being overwhelmed, the decision has been made to allow some re-opening but with precautions. Sitting at a table with the people you came in with, you're unlikely to infect anyone else. But walking past other tables there's more risk, so mask up to reduce it. Toilets tend to be less well ventilated and smaller spaces, so again, more risk of people breathing someone else's droplets, so mask up to reduce the risk. Being masked while moving about also protects the staff.
And being vaccinated against a preventable disease is only a life-changing decison in the same way that deciding not to jump out of a plane without a parachute is a life changing decision - it's just common sense.
Dawamman said: Why are you only aloud to meet with 1 other house hold, yet you can go to the pub and meet friends from more than 1 household without a mask? Doesn't make sense.
Makes perfect sense, it reduces the likelyhood of transmission of infection to multiple people. Covid-19 is spread by infected breath droplets. Reducing the numbers of strangers in proximity to each other reduces the chances of breathing in someone else's droplets and getting infected. Ever crossed just behind someone in a city street and realised you can smell their perfume or aftershave? That's also droplets, though from sweat not breath. But if you can smell those, sure as hell you're also breathing in some of that person's exhaled breath. Pubs tend to be bigger than rooms in houses, so more space for the air to spread out, reduces the risk, plus pubs have much better ventilation than houses do, because they usually have extractor fans, multiple doors, and windows open.
Dawamman said: Why are the most prone poeple to catching the disease exempt from wearing masks and are not getting any help from the government ?
Some people have breathing difficulties and others have psychological reasons why they can't wear masks. The rest of us who are able to, by doing so, help to protect those people. Government help is a political decision and out of scope for this thread (or we'll get into endless Tories vs Socialists type debates).
Dawamman said: Why are there no biohazard bins around for disposing of used masks?
Because you should take them home and dispose of them in your household rubbish, which in most places gets incinerated. Or wear reusable ones you can wash, which are generally better looking and more comfortable. I have "rock scene" ones from EMP. Maude has an awesome cat face one (which she sometimes wears with cat ears too, incredibly cute).
Dawamman said: Correct me please and point me in the righ direction, but as far as I'm aware, neither Boris Johnson or Matt Hancock have had the vaccine.
Boris has had it (BBC), Matt Hancock's had it (The Standard), and the Queen has had it (Just about every reputable news source on the planet). I had my first dose the other month and get my second the week after next. One of the people on my FB friends list is a very senior vaccine research scientist who works for AstraZenica, if anyone was going to know about negative reactions or side-effects it would be her. She's had it too.
Dawamman said: Why is the media not broadcasting the side effects and death figures due to the jab?
Because there's nothing to report. The common side-effects are well known, you get a mild fever for a day or so, a few aches, it's a bit like like very mild flu. That's your body learning to fight off the infection, which is the whole point of vaccines. Yes, there will be a very small number of poeple who get some kind of negative reaction, there's no such thing as a 100% safe medical procedure. Medicine is a game of balancing risks. Your chances of dying of Covid, or of infecting someone vulnerable and killing them, if not vaccinated, are far, far higher than the risks of any of the vaccines. Here in the UK we now have over 37 million had first dose, 20 million both doses. If there was any kind of significant problem, we'd be knee deep in bodies. We aren't. The vaccines are safe.
Just got a tetanus booster shot this morning. Doctor said I should get them once every ten years. Have no idea when last time I had one. Could have been 50 years ago.

Thanks for the reminder, I have to schedule a tetanus booster for July.

When covid-19 spread around the world for the first time in 2020, nobody knew for sure how bad it would be. I'm not entirely sure WHICH law you are referring to (and i've seen different areas with different specific laws) but covid-19 has not been AS BAD as was feared in the beginning, and thus new laws reflect the new understandings of what covid-19 is, or is not...
ncgreg231lc2 said: covid-19 has not been AS BAD as was feared in the beginning
Some of us took it seriously and took steps to stop the spread while others used whatever platforms they could to peddle disinformation and get people killed. Then they quote a narrowly-avoided worst case scenario as proof that it was overhyped.

Yeah...only over 500k dead in the US alone. Luckily most of us took this as seriously as we could, to try and limit the spread, and not experience how much worse this all could have been.
It's interesting that the people who have had the vaccine think that the people who have chosen not to have it at present is because of stupid reasons like being tracked, 5g, Bill Gates...ect ect. I had Covid in January and while it seems it effects everyone differently. I'm just now suffering from a simple cold and I actually feel worse today than I did when I had Covid. Rich and I just sent off two blood samples for the gov to test for antibodies as neither has had the vaccine yet. I'm so interested to see if we do indeed have antibodies as a friend hadn't had Covid and only one dose of the vaccine and had antibodies not sure if they testing for the ability to connect to 5g though

I gather when you get Covid and recover, the antibodies last six months or so. I think the vaccine-caused immunity, after both doses, lasts longer, though there is talk of an annual booster being needed in the future.
TBH most of the time I've seen people making vaccine-skeptical posts (on any media, not just here) it's been because of crazy conspiracy nonsense. Sadly the amount of ranting about Bill Gates / Illuminati / Chemtrails / 5G / Aliens / Flat Earth / Magnets / Nanobots / Mind Control / Whatever other bonkers conspiracy anyone gets into, has largely drowned out any actual sensible discussion.
Whenever people start talking about conspiracies I point out that the UK government has a history of leaving CDs full of sensitive information on trains and sensitive dociments where journmalists can photograph them. Any organisation that unorganised hasn't a snowball's chance in a blast furnace of actually keeping any actual conspiracy secret for more than about the first six minutes.
I didn't buy into all the paranoid hype surrounding the virus itself in regards to the risk posed to me and mine personally. While I haven't been tested I'm pretty sure I had it and recovered with relative ease. I'm a healthy white guy with no co-risk factors and good access to medical care. Not much to fear really so I was relatively cavalier about the whole thing. A lot of "laws" regarding this are rules made at state and local level that are often contradictory and aimed at limiting liability not the virus. Such rules in my area were not especially onerous anyway. I rolled my eyes and went along most of the time for due caution and courtesy.
What I can't deal with is the ignorance and fear peddling regarding actual science around the vaccine itself. I'm now "fully vaccinated" as they put it and beginning June 1st we are done with masks where I work. I plan to have a mask burning party in the parking lot.

when i was a teenager (80's/90's) i happened across Stephen King's "The Stand" (various version appearing after the first publishing in 1978)
500k is less than 1% of the death toll in King's story, but that was a fictional story, so that probably could never happen in real life... I thought Ebola might be the real-life version back in 2014, but it didn't spread easily enough to affect very much outside of Africa...
Cinq and Soug said: It's interesting that the people who have had the vaccine think that the people who have chosen not to have it at present is because of stupid reasons like being tracked, 5g, Bill Gates.
I know I, and milllions of others, would be much more sympathetic to anti-vaxxers if they simply stated their real reason for fearing being vaccinated: fear of being stuck with a needle, pain of a needle stick. Instead of making up tons of provably false bullshit about imaginary "harms" of the vaccine itslef. I still feels pangs of hypocrisy because, when I was a 5-year old kid (hmm.... or was I a 42-year old adult... I don't remember ) I gave the poor doctor absolute hell, kicking and screaming in terror as he was trying to vaccinate me, because I was terrified of a needle stick . Obviously, now have had needles injected into me hundreds of times, both by myself and by medical professionals, the irony is obvious.
No.. the thing that specifically enrages me about the particular conspiracy or alternate-truth-believers (choose your own name, if you're one of them; choose a name for them, if you're not) is the infinite arrogance of believing that there is something special about THEIR alternate beliefs that run contrary to the experts, professionals.
Sorry. By definition, if you can be contrarian to those who know infinitely more about a thing than you do, then you have to be open to ALL contrarians on ALL things. There is nothing special nor unique about creationists' alternative ideas to evolution, or Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) deniers' alternative ideas to climate science, or Electric Universe/Plasma Cosmologists' alternative ideas to physicists' established science. or antivaxxers alternative ideas that contradict proved virology
Just because you have large numbers on your side does NOT make your cause more important compared to those whose causes get little to no attention and no mention by politicians.
You get to be contrarian to scientists? I get to be contrarian to judges, lawyers, prosecutors, the FBI, the CIA, the military on what is or is not the law (i.e. communism), legal, how to fight a war, war strategy, as well as to business leaders & economists on economics & how to run a business etc. And to be contrarian to entertainers of any kind: athletes, musicians, dancers, actors, screenwriters, storytellers, moviemaker, over what is "good" or "better" in art, music or any other form of entertainment. I get to be contrarian to physical trainers, physical therapists, and their opinions about obesity & exercise, and I get to support Fat Pride. Nothing special about the USA or China or any nation or culture or particular agency of that nation that says it can't be destroyed and replaced tomorrow. e.g. we CAN defund the police, the CIA, the Secret Service, Scotland Yard. The laws & structures of the Soviet Union collapsing proved that. [Side note: I would REALLY like to learn what the specific laws of the Soviet Union were. I mean, did they have laws specifically stating: You are not allowed to start a business, under penalty of being sprayed with borscht for an hour. ?]
I am really REALLY angry right now because we pay INSANE PROPERTY taxes yet our township is suffering a SEVERE SHORTAGE of DRIVERS of recycling trucks: recycling has not been picked up. And, yes: PAY ME to TEACH ME how to drive a recycling truck and I'll do it. But FIRST get rid of all the UNNECESSARY parts of government: cops, judges, excessive numbers of tax collectors.
