History tells us that, in the short history of the Captain & Tennille variety program, only one female celebrity was pied in the weekly "Masterjoke Theatre" segment, and that was Charo.
Yet here, courtesy of Getty Images, we see Gladys Knight, on the MT set and seated in the MT chair, enjoying the after effects of a MT pie, even though this scene was never broadcast.
(Gladys and the Pips appeared on the 11/15/76 episode with comics Stiller & Meara, but Jerry Stiller hosted the Masterjoke Theater sketch that week.)
Did Gladys find the prospect of a pie too good to pass up? Food for thought!)

Probably, this was broadcasted, but there are no records of the scene anymore...
It is a bit frustrating that the C&T show releases a 3-volume DVD set.... that leaves out ALL the female Masterjoke pieings.
And from what I've heard, the Charo one (which aired but doesn't seem to be online) was a bad hit.... whereas the Annette one was fantastic, and this Gladys one looks really good too. But if the last two didn't even air, the chances of footage getting out are basically nil.
Unless C&T releases an official set. Except they already did. And none of these pieings were in it.
Robby, I think Fred Silvemann wanted a cheap and not controversal show like Sonny and Cher and not Carol Burnett and the Smothers Brothers. I mean Pat Paulson? Gimme a break.
Oh, according to the obit, it was sham marriage.Variety said they were married and they took the hint.
