Just curious. I have started having some of my Spanish language scenes subtitled, for my own personal use.

However I wondered if there was interest in this. If so, I may well start to replace the existing files with the new subtitled ones if that's what people prefer.

It's not cheap so it's only for a select few scenes at the mo..but I was keen to see what the community thought, as I know other content creators do subtitle their scenes.

I wondered if people would be more likely to buy a scene if they could understand what was being said or, alternatively, if the dialogue really doesn't affect that decision, and moreover people may worry that the subtitles block the action. .

So I have decided to do a quick poll, but please do feel free to comment as well

For me 100% yes, but that's a personal preference rather than a demand.

For me I like a little bit of a storyline behind the mess, so I have to really like the model and the mess for me to buy a native tongue video. For example the jeopardy of whether a model will answer a question correctly.

However I have certainly bought some (Wam Bagheera's interview of Andrea with the sperm tanks remains a favourite - it's one example of where I didn't need the dialogue to enjoy the mess :kiss and I still really enjoy them. But as a percentage I buy less native tongue video.

It depends on the scene. If it's just random playful banter it doesn't matter very much. If it's a scripted or mostly scripted scene I would like to see subtitles at least to give me a rough idea of the scenario. An example of this was Allwam scenes where the girls are clearly engaging in dialogue and I would really love to understand the comments back and forth.

In the past I did not subtitle many of my scenes but I have realized that on certain occasions it is important to know what a dialogue or discussion is about, that is why now all my scenes are subtitled, I think that has increased sales quite a bit. in my personal opinion.

Yes because I like to know what the person getting messy is saying, i.e. their full reaction. Also the taunting by the people doing the messing is fun. I can get an idea of what's going on without subtitles, but I would like to have the option of having it available to me.

This is a very tricky question to answer. I've seen footage of TV subtitling being created which explained how long it takes and costs. I've seen TV programmes where enormous liberties have been taken with paraphrasing the dialogue for the subtitle track. I've seen shows where the subtitling has impacted the view of what's happening on screen. I've also seen films and TV shows where some foreign language dialogue hasn't been translated, which tends to be frustrating.

My feeling would be to only do it for however many videos you would consider to be viable cost wise, and even then to be prepared for moaning from people if they don't have a way of turning the subtitles on and off.

With the nature of WAM it's of course about the mess, so in general subtitles are not needed, as the viewer is just watching the lovely victim, er hum sorry, person, get pied, gunged or just plain trashed.

Adding subtitles would/could detract from the main action. However, in saying that some scenes would be better with subtitles. For example in your Judge Jenny scenes, there is rather alot of dialogue before the mega messy trashing begins, so it would be nice to understand the context of why she's being trashed.

So I guess subtitles used for key reasons only, to tie the scene/story together, an if and when needed approach.

I do understand that the extra cost/time needed is also a factor.

I voted yes, but it does depend. For instance, I enjoyed watching Alumi's "rock paper scissors" tournament where the players are speaking Japanese, and since they were basically counting to 3 each time I didn't need subtitles for that. On the other hand, if there's a more elaborate scenario then it would be nice to know what's going on.

In terms of blocking the action, I assume that there's a way to store these as a separate track inside the mp4 video, so that they can be toggled on and off at will.

As a fan of both Anime and the occasional hentai, I'd be lost without Subtitles. Same rule applies here.

Story and scenario matter and contribute to the overall enjoyment of each and every scene adding additional substance and value. Being able to understand the story via subtitles when not in English (or a language you understand) therefore is essential.

Also, The Hearing Impaired folks would certainly appreciate it.

Truth be told, I basically watch everything with Subtitles ON these days regardless, it's just easier to follow and I retain what I've watched longer.

That'd be a hard no-sale from me unless there's an easy and obvious way to turn them off. My WAM interest is in seeing people getting messy below the waist, lower trunk, crotch, bum, thighs, legs. All of which are liable to be obscured by subtitles at the bottom of the screen. Many mainstream scenes are ruined by idents and captions along the lower edge of the screen blocking the view.

I assume they'd just be built-in selective subs or an additional SRT File (the subtitle text and timing info for the video in question) downloaded alongside the media file and then just selected via a Player like VLC or MPV where you can adjust placement and size as desired, not hard-coded subs which are baked into the video and can't be manipulated.

The right dialogue in a scene can add so much, especially in the build up, certainly for me anyway.

As an aside, I also love certain expressions of the participants and any onlookers. Probably comes from seeing slapstick scenes acted out in films/tv sketches in my youth.

In fact comments from onlookers to the messy action can also be quite a trigger for me!

That would be fair enough, but wasn't mentioned in the OP, which did specifically state "might block the action" so was assuming hard-baked bottom of screen text. In the example picture the subtitle is runing the view of the woman's messy top.

TBH I have quite a few AllWam scenes which are in an eastern European language, I can still mostly tell from facial expressions and body language what's going on, even without actually understanding the dialog. But then I usually watch WAM scenes with the sound off or turned right down, so it's never been a major part of it for me.

Another issue for me personally is that if something is subtitled, I tend to read the subtitles and stop actually looking at the rest of the screen. As someone who was an avid reader in my youth, it's "there is text, it much be concentrated on to the exclusion of all else." So I'd get all the dialog but completely miss most of the action. Obvs this will vary from person to person.

Not a deal breaker, as I'm mostly there for the messy, but it would be nice to know what's going on when they're playing certain games and the model's responses to taunts and being the one to get messy.

The ability to automatically transcribe and translate has come an enormous way over the past several years and the final output is quite good for Portuguese and German, which is the bulk of what I've tried so far. My results have been more mixed for Hindi and Japanese.

Having said that, I'm a fan of the Andando na Prancha vids despite not understanding what they are saying.

RevSlymsford, to be honest, I'm not a massive fan of watching foreign language films / TV full stop (even WITH subtitles), although I might make an exception for something seriously award-winning like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", or "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", for the simple reason that watching something with subtitles requires a much larger amount of concentration than watching something in my native tongue English (or something imported from the USA where American English is at least passably close to the King's English and in the spoken word I don't have to deal with the comedy misspellings... I have yet to meet an American who can spell "Neighbour", "Aluminium" or "Sulphur" for example ).
Given whilst watching a WAM video I'm unlikely to be giving things 100% concentration (as I'm liable to be doing something simultaneously whilst watching), this means that I wouldn't necessarily catch all the subtitles... And I actually enjoy watching things where I understand what is being said, either because they involve funny scripts (as invariably your videos done in English do) or they involve some form of quiz... where I love hearing the question and hearing some of the comedy answers that the girls come out with before getting a rightly deserved gunging for such a hilariously wrong answer!
Additionally, in the case of a WAM video, even if it is subtitled, they are likely to cover things I like seeing such as nipples / feet depending on where such features are within the frame, and unless there are going to be options for having the subtitles shown in "empty space" outside the viewing area, then even though they help in one way, they detract in another...

I would therefore like to vote for an as yet un-listed 4th option of:
"No, subtitles may block action & I do care what's being said, therefore I will ONLY buy WAM Videos in my native language"

I genuinely thought more people might be bothered that it would block part of the action, so it's interesting to know that for the vast majority 'words speak louder than action' and that knowing the dialogue is more highly valued than seeing every bit of the mess. For me they really do enhance the scenes, as good wam dialogue is a much bigger turn on for me than seeing every inch of messy coverage,...but I was genuinely pleasantly surprised so many people feel the same.

By the way a few of the boffins of the community seemed to misunderstand the poll and were talking about STDs and hard coding and other things a bear of little brain like myself didn't understand.

So just to be clear, DM1 (Dungeonmasterone) is 100% correct when he says that the reason there was a poll option to say 'No I don't like them as they may block the action' is that they may block the action .

One of my all-time favorite videos was a WAMwatchers custom where Fawn spoke entirely in French.

It was set up as a parody of a sixties art film where Fawn is blathering about the futility of love, and gets pied for being pretentious.

The English subtitles did not interfere with a messy, funny, SEXY video.

I think you are right to offer them.

Myself, I don't mind subtitles even if I can't read them. After awhile I just forget they're there.

I do regard Spanish as my second language and therefore, if English and Spanish are the languages involved, I love subtitles.

However, I have a family member who'll be watching TV and something comes on with subtitles and suddenly here come the complaints about the visual clutter. And that's just regular TV.

Not something I know much about as have never suibtitled a scene, but basically the modern way to do subtitles doesn't involve text recorded permanently onto the video, but instead a separate file which contains the text and timing information on when it should be displayed, which the user's player than combines with the video - and which means that the subtitles can be turned on or off, and the user can choose where on the screen to display them - so someone more interested in lower-screen action could move them to the top.

Probably something worth looking into if you plan to subtitle a significant abount of content.

My native tongue is New Zealand. So far I have had no difficulties in understanding American.

Yes indeed, this completely - No Need to re-encode all your scenes with subs burnt-in, Just create a subtitle file and provide it for download with the vids you already got. Much easier and cheaper to do. Adds value without adding a lot of extra work. (Granted I'm only familiar with the process as a user of Japanese/Korean subs)

This much is true. I've tried using some of the subtitling methods to get after the fact captions; some videos I've enjoyed for years I had no idea what was being said. It's like a whole new video when you add captioning.

Going deaf sucks, do not recommend. zero stars.
