Has anyone made slime out of a ton of cream of wheat? I'm wondering if I can get the same thickness without heating it up first, since it'll take way too much time to heat it up one bowl at a time. Thanks!
I've used cream of rice but used whole box it was great but didn't really mix into the water all the way, got pics in my hard splatter album of our session
The HSW slime recipe was just cream of wheat+cold water+food coloring, with a bit of shampoo added (except once or twice when I forgot) in an effort to help it come out of the hair more easily (it was still a pain in the ass to wash out, just slightly less of one)
I forget the exact ratios. It was something like 2 boxes to 3 gallons of water (I don't think it was ever exactly the same twice) It was a pain in the ass to work with. It would separate, there would be liquid on top and a near-solid mass on the bottom. I would give it a quick stir with my hand right before dumping.
If the lumpy, chunky, '80s-style slime is what you're after, oatmeal is much easier to work with, and to wash out.
Wow, something I know about! What works 10X better and at a fraction of the price is Maseca instant corn flour. A 4.4lb (2kg) bag is $2.68 at Sam's Club and would easily make 7 or more gallons without being thinned out. It's also sold in 50lb bags if you somehow need that much.
The recipe is to fill a pot of water a bit more than halfway, bring it to a boil, stir in with a whisk a minimum of 2 cups, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes before adding more as you see fit. You can easily manage two pots at a time. By then it should be somewhat thick, simmering with fewer but larger bubbles and heat can be turned off. As it cools it will thicken more and after 20 minutes or so if you planned ahead it will be too thick, but this is to your advantage because it will still be dangerously hot. Add cold water to get to proper thickness and speed up the cooling process.
Will not stick to anything or stain, easy to clean, and is not gritty like cream of wheat. Enjoy!
