I know we have members from all around the world. Wondering how the COVID situation is where you are and what types of things are happening there because of it.
I am sure everyone knows the chaos in the USA, but it's not often we here about what is happening in the rest of the world.
We had it under control for a while, but the number of new cases just spiked in Ontario about two weeks ago. There was a corresponding spike in deaths registered two days ago, which I expect will continue.
Our federal government has basically been doing what it should be doing: giving cash relief to Canadians while a huge chunk of the workforce is forced into unemployment. Those payments expired last month, though. In the meantime, the right-wing slobs in charge of Ontario government have rushed businesses and schools into re-opening, despite the fact that they aren't willing to actually go out in public themselves.

Yeah, sorry so many idiots from the states are lying at the border about why they need to be in Canada, and then not isolating.
my facebook feet is lit up with talk about DJT announcing his covid-19 postive status (come to think of it, it's been over an hour since i last checked for updates!)
The state I live in has been COVID free for a while now. It is still an ever present threat, but one that we have gotten through and will continue to get through.
I'm mostly worried about the folks in Victoria though. Got kin down that way and some are in hot spots.
In the UK we had levels down to very low through the summer, but as more sectors of the economy were re-opened the numbers started to climb, and in the last couple of weeks it's spiking up massively again. The government doesn't want another national lockdown so they are going for local measures area by area, but that's just causing confusion as the rules are different in different places and tend to change frequently. Most of my friends are expecting us to be back to full lockdown before much longer.
At some point - I don't know when people will admit to what I am about to type! - residents in the UK are going to have to (finally) understand that Boris Johnson's (the British Prime Minister) brain only works one way - which has been proven by his track record - self-interest. The UK is getting nowhere fast! Business are going under, livelihoods are being thrown under the "Boris bus" left, right and centre. Yet, the British don't react. (Stiff upper-lip?) Our civil servants can't even collate the correct data to tell the residents how many infections they have town by town. In Oldham - a previously badly infected area - the townsfolk had to organise their own mass testing. (Paid for themselves.) The council sent for a private contractor and a volunteer force went knocking door to door. What's to stop Boris getting the UK Army to do the same job? Most likely the truth would come out The UK is not at 22,961 infections a day, more likely at 150,000 per day. Liverpool is in tight lockdown, yet, the pubs have been given (3/10/20) longer opening hours (even though ((technically)) the good people of Liverpool can't go in them!) 13:00 to 22:00 hrs. Can people see my point!? Whose next under Boris's bus! The blokes a dithering idiot always has been and always will be! Meanwhile, COVID gets stronger.
Regards,
Andy and the team.
(Don't forget Popworld is open every weekend because the party never stops?!?) ((I feel those in France who are looking at two-week stint of tight lockdown.)) (((Thank God we have the NHS, we keep Boris away from that at all costs.))))
Well, I am from Mexico and here the things are not going well, but it is a sadly and decadent situation, because the contagions and deaths are every day rising more and more but people seems not to care about, every day I see more people traveling, partying, living just the same way before Covid-19, there are actually less people wearing masks in the streets, I guess that... ignorance is bliss, even if that bliss causes death; I'm not sure that things would come to better here, the worse in this country is that all this mess, its not because of the uncompetitive government, but the people, they are digging their tombs, that makes me feel sad.
Seems a lot of governments around the world are struggling to lead their people through this pandemic. A lot of the same themes are coming to light around economic disparity and failures. One thing I hope does not come from this is a loss in WAM productions. I know a lot of producers were on tight profit margins even before COVID.

I have written 3 posts on forum Stay Home https://umd.net/forums/stay-home This relates to what we are facing here in Victoria Australia with the entire state split into 2 regions 1) Greater Melbourne the city its self then regional Victoria. There is a 300 km ring lock around Melbourne, separating this from regional Victoria and permits must be carried. These can be obtained online. All state boarders are physically with road blocks with cops both each State and Fed and Army and other Federal agencies manning these. Permits Must be carried or fines starting at $200 AUD for NO MASK!! upto $2,000 + AUD no permit or pass the 5km limit (3 miles) and over $20,000 if No Permit for boarder crossings. Only 1 now 2 hour exercise period allowed per day. This must be done as one block- Not multiple blocks eg 30 mins x 4 lots. This includes shopping etc... only certain shops are open. Curfew from 8 pm now 10 pm until 5 am. This is now 2 months and more since 2nd of August 2020.
If anyone wants more info than what I have posted here or on other Forum by Mess Master - Stay Home. Please 'Friend' me I can supply copies of forms and news links etc...
My thoughts & prayers go out to the poor lonely Coronavirus, stuck inside its republicunt hosts: Trump, Melania, Mcenany. My heart breaks for the poor virus, thinking of what an ordeal it must be suffering. I wish the virus the best luck at overcoming its frightful situation. Thankfully, thanks to Trump, this coronavirus has received better healthcare treatment than most Americans. #PRAYforVIRUS
Tik-tok tik-tok - just a matter of time before the Mods delete this. even though comedian Chris Rock said essentially the same thing in his opening monologue on this past Saturday's season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
The whole of the UK is going through a second wave, even though we aren't in a second lockdown. I won't say much more, because I will end up going into a big political rant and I don't want to do that
Scotland has got a slightly better handle on the situation but we're still not doing great, which is annoying because, during Summer, we were actually starting to get it under control. Thankfully, almost everyone I've seen is reasonably compliant with social distancing and wearing face masks, so life is getting back to some kind of normality.
