Despite the fact I am missing the clay already I still think it's not possible for me to do anything until at least my early march, funny thing is I've already had three customer requests from people asking if I could do them as soon as the next couple of weeks It's something that might be possible if they wanted me to do it in a big winter coat with lots of layers but unfortunately one wants a swimsuit another wants lingerie and the other one was looking at me doing it in a summer dress As much as I love doing customs it is only about 3 at best here in the UK at the moment and and the mud will be even cooler than that, so as loyal as I am I'm not looking to get hypothermia I promise I will be doing clay customs as soon as possible so keep your requests coming
I did clay custom in October once and I DID get hypothermia. I couldn't speak, I didn't get feeling back in my extremities for the rest of the day I couldn't hold a spoon or fork. It was fun playing but then? It kicked in and I had to get out. It's very real and since the mud is so thick? It just clings the cold to you. I had to ride back home about 30 mins covered in that cold thick clay.
I would take their customs NOW and hold them. Once summer comes you will have so many? You can atleast have them down in order, ya know? Or have them pay a non refundable deposit. They will wanna see it just as bad 3 months from now! I'm excited for mud season too!

Hi Jayce Thanks for the contribution, I have done a couple of very cold shoots before that was very world rest of the time unfortunately these ones are coming through and they won't little or nothing on At the moment I haven't taken any money as I've already said it's a bit too early to do it I generally take the money about three weeks beforehand and give a date for completion as the last thing I need to do is hold someone's money for months on end so any customers reading this please rest assured that's how I do business With your hypothermia that sounds horrendous it's certainly something I'm trying to avoid Don't forget there's a paper here waiting for you if you're ever in the UK you will know it's the right one because I'll be sitting there waiting for you xx

Well isn't this just your lucky day As if by magic you asked and I deliver from tomorrow there is a new scene available featuring an indoor Claypit with a proper old-fashioned slapstick mud fight with myself and Brooke Madderson where I take full advantage of the situation and literally leave Brooke shrieking as I pile cold mud on top of her time after time Look out for it tomorrow on the Messy forum and in my store
It's just a question of clothes when you bath in mud in the winter. I normally use multiple layers. Lycra, turtleneck pullover, skibibs, quilted jacket, Maybe snowsuit or raingear. Even if you get wet it keeps you warm. Show you some pics! the ice crushing was really soooo funny
Don't get any cold or the flue after that...
So may try it step by step, od course with real clothes on

There's nothing wrong with doing those customs with a big winter coat on to begin with and then after that gets muddy, and you are warmed up enough from being in that coat, maybe you could take it off and show off the requested outfits from these buyers! Best of both worlds they get their content ASAP, you stay warm (for as long as possible) and we get more winter clothing content! If you end up doing this, be sure to wear a long fur hood puffer coat. I'm requesting for a friend

You really can only do cool weather outdoor customs in winter clothes I mean, if you don't want to get hypothermia!! Puffer coats work best to stay warm, but layer a waterproof jacket over the puff and you're unstoppable!

I'll be happy to let you take the lead on that one if you would like to show me how it's done as with over 25 years experience in doing this you would have thought I'd of come up with the same idea at some point
The fact is when you watch a 20 minute video of me or other models in a scene the shoot takes a hell of a lot longer than that to film as some parts ore often filmed a few times to get it right then there's the fact I often get stuck and can sometimes take 10 minutes to get free something that's normally cut from scenes as it's actually not pleasant. Then there's the clean up that takes place on site in a river etc as carrying a bath of water 2-3 miles to the location can be a bit too hard most days.
It does occur to me that most don't actually realise the efforts myself and others alike go through to produce a 15-20 minute scene
Thanks for the advice on the coat I'll keep it in mind

And just to add Most don't want multiple layers on in a scene as it's normally requested something skimpy that's going to end up coming off, have you ever tried moving in a wetsuit and 5 jumpers in water and mud
Chantelle, I for one, and I'm sure anyone in their right mind, would not try to get you to do an outdoor mud scene during the winter.
I thank you for the work you do. You are, and have been, the Queen of Mud. And I appreciate the work you put into it, and the fact is is obvious you love playing in the mud as much as I do. And now that you have gotten together with Brooke Maddison, we have the Queen of Mud and the Princess of Clay. And I am so happy you two guys got together.

Ohhh trust me.. I know. I really do know the struggle. I used to produce content for some time and the models and I (mostly myself) would have to carry the 2-3+ heavy winter coats + pants, boots, accessories, etc. out of rivers, oceans, lakes, mud pits, etc. at least a half mile away or up a steep hill. And yes, the cleaning process takes at least 3 hours from making sure the car is water/mud/dry mud free and washing and drying the clothes. Also noting how long it takes to get there and back home
I guess I never thought about retaking scenes as I never did customs. I just would give the model an idea of what to do during the shoot and was happy enough with the outcome.
But regardless a puffy winter coat will definitely still keep you warm(er) than not having one even if it's soaked in water, mud, or mess
We're 200 miles north (and hence 200 miles colder) than Chantelle's mud pits, and our rivers flow down from the high moors of the Yorkshire Dales, so the water can be cold even in High Summer. We have a general rule, if the air temperature is below 21C, we aren't shooting outdoors.
Very occasionally we've shot down to 18 degrees if there was strong hot sunshine and no wind, but we put model comfort ahead of everything else. There have even been days we've driven to the mudbanks, got out, felt the air and wind, got back in the van, driven back to the Hall, and shot dungeon scenes instead.
Mud season up here doesn't usually open till the end of May, and closes again in September. We only need 12 mud (and 12 wetlook) updates a year for Langstonedale, and we can usually shoot 3 mud scenes in one day, so four shoot days provides all the material we need. During the heatwaves of recent years we've regularly shot double what we needed, so the Langstonedale stockpile is now almost as far ahead as the Saturation Hall one.

DM that's exactly how we work down here too, if it's 19 and above for at least a few days it's generally time to head to the clay and start the shoots. I have said I'll do colder shoots but Daz won't let me in case I get a cold or worse as he reckons I'm the worst person in the world when I'm not well so refuses to take me
Though the recent indoor mud shoot I did with Brooke a couple of weeks ago that's now available for download from my store for just $20 for 2 camera angle shoot ( shameless plug ) was bloody cold as it was used a couple of days before and then stored in the garage but I managed to make it look warm compared to Brooke who was frozen to the spot as I covered her in it

LOL! He's very wise. TBH given how chilling cold and wet can be, sensible advice.

We did indoor mud some years ago, and yeah, a large pool of mud gets very cold and stays that way, no matter how much hot water you mix into it.
Spotted your scene, tempted, but any chance of editing the description to give the timings? Just one line that says something like "Shirts start to come off at X minutes, trousers off at Y minutes" would be enough. I'm only interested in fully clothed. Topless or nude completely kills any appeal for me. So with a scene like that which starts clothed but ends much less so, unless the description tells me how long the clothed section is going to be, I can't judge whether it's value for money from my POV or not. So no timings, no sale.
This is something all producers should take into account. There is no such thing as too much information, in terms of selling a scene. I know UMD says "no need to mention runtime" but that refers to the overall length as UMD extracts and shows that itself. It can't tell in a scene that starts clothed and ends nude, where the changeover happens, so telling us in the text really does help.
