Hey wam fam! There seems to be a little confusion over what goes in the Classifieds, so I want to get us on the same page!
The Classifieds forum is for personal ads. It's for people who want to find someone else of like-interest to talk to or even possibly meet up. Threads in such a forum can end up being conversations between just two or just a few people getting to know each other or talking about Skype or whatever. That can potentially get annoying if it keeps bumping to the top in a general forum like Messy.
At the other extreme, we get a lot of one-off messages from people looking for someone else. The general forums don't seem to like that, but in Classifieds it might be of use to someone specifically looking for that type of person. That's why I just greatly increased reply time limits on that forum to up to a year!
But if you're announcing a meet-up for multiple people, it's fine right in the Messy or Wetlook forums. It's less like a personal classified ad and more likely something that a group of people could be interested in.
Maybe I'll rename Classifieds to "Personals?"
Any thoughts?? MM p.s. Classifieds was also there for people selling items (like Candy's crate of items), but to me, that even seems more appropriate in the main forums.... thoughts?
I got a fantastic quick response with my giveaway of the messy items once I put that message on the main forum. It was arranged and picked up within about 3/4 hours - very grateful for that.
I think the main forum is relevant for something like that long as it's related to messy stuff and likely to be a one off, like not constant spamming or anything. imho
I think an impression has been given in recent years that anything not involving photos of people getting messy wasn't welcome in the main forum, as frequently anything else, regardless of how relevant or of interest to the readers, got shoved into Off-Topic by the moderators.
I'd agree with renaming Classifieds to Personals if the intention is that it's mainly about individual personal connections, rather than a general marketplace - in UK papers at least the Classifieds section is where you flog cars, clothes, small businesses as a going concern, etc, as well as personals.
Im guilty of just putting my USA tour thread in messy instead of classifieds. I knew it was probably more classified, and might get moved. I did this because when I put threads in messy people see them and I immediately get replies and DM's with people interested. When they start in classified no one ever sees them and then I get messages way too late that they never saw the thread announcement. I think renaming it personals, or creating a seperate personals forum is a great idea. It seems most people only ever look at messy! Maybe call it messy personals?

Maria as I understand it posts about sessions ARE allowed in the main forum as long as the person has a proven track record - which you have so I'm not sure why it was moved
I still do some of my sessions posts in classified though, depends whether it's a general FYI post (classified) or something like a tour (needs to be in main to alert people who never look at classifieds)
We've got Splosh mags, old collectable WAM video's,used clothes/shoes from the films plus the sessions/customs all for sale. Where do you want us to advertise each of those? Separately thanks Candy for the supplies, the Bear was quite efficient in getting them despite the M5 being closed!

That would be really cool but I don't think they are. It has been moved. And people contacting me dropped immediately. Haha but this is here! If you're reading... Go to classified!!!!
I think most people look at Pics Archive first! Maybe we should all do photo's of a piece of paper with what's for sale written on it Ha!Ha! Classified and Off Topic gets little response

People often like to post in Messy regardless of the topic, just because it gets more traffic. But really I wish that wasn't such a strong an incentive to do so.

That's our fault and why I made this post. The topic itself is where relevancy comes from, not necessarily media and pictures.

Right. With such tour threads welcomed right in Messy/Wetlook, it doesn't really matter that the Classifieds forum gets less traffic--its traffic is from people specifically looking for that other person. If your thread is about the wam subject and would be of interest to a reasonable number of viewers or participants, it's okay in Messy/Wetlook. I think the term "Personals" clears up this dichotomy pretty well.

The main forums. "Classifieds" has the baggage of sometimes meaning "selling stuff," but this whole site is that. So if it's related to wam and wammers, and would appeal to a significantly large prospective audience (not just one or two people out there), it can go in Messy/Wetlook.
Jason_K416 said: Yeah, I refer to the classifieds as "The Graveyard" its where threads go to die.
Anyone who has had their thread moved, whether by me or a mod, can definitely contact me if you think it was a wrong decision. I think this goes without saying... Messmaster
Last time I made a post in the main forum offering custom videos at a discount it was immediately moved to classifieds and no one saw it. Since then I assumed models/producers were not allowed to advertise anything in the main forum. It would be nice to have clarification on how this works.

Thanks MM Ok we'll get stuff listed over the next couple of weeks thanks..

That would be fine on a main forum, because it's of interest to the general forum and not just maybe somebody in Little Rock, Arkansas. Nahmean?

That's also the point in this post... to get us all on the same page. M
Yeah consistency would be good from the moderators would be good. I got a bit of feedback from a few customers and many say they to save time they actually narrow their visit down by going straight to the pics/video's then they click on the post for that pic and all the others say it they would only look at their specified Fetish so click on male or female and then mostly 'Messy' and a couple on 'Wetlook' and have even been to Classifieds or Off Topic. Does the Loverbuns site have a Forum as well for the other stuff like Foot Fetish/Bondage etc?

That site is just a re-skin of UMD with different (off-topic) content, so it has forums and other things, but they are turned off right now. I've been working on a modified version of the forums to launch there soon.
The confusion about "Classifieds" is probably because this term classically refers to advertising the sale of products or services, which is what much of the content in the "Messy" Forum deals with also. If indeed the Classifieds Forum is to be more for personal hookups, then for sure "Personals" would be a much more appropriate title.
What would be the correct forum for messy game threads like the "Loser has to" thread that's been going for a while now in the Classifieds section? I posted my 2016 NFL Challenge thread in Classifieds because the "Loser has to" thread was there.
A few subject-line guidelines as to posts in personals might also be a good thing. So many (but not all) of them are generic to the point of not wanting to click any of them and wait for them to load one-by-one. "Want to get messy?" tells me pretty much nothing. The only thing it tells me is that you want to get messy, and since this is a forum revolving around that, it's essentially the most irrelevant piece of information. Heck, the first two times I typed a topic example above I glanced at the personals forum (glad that it's been renamed, btw) and there were very recent posts with the exact wording of the example I had just typed, so I changed it to not offend anybody.
If the personal is for Skype play, maybe use the word "Skype" in the subject. If it's for a physical location, perhaps putting something like "Chicago" or "Midwest" (hey, I can dream, right?) in the subject. And, some indication as to what you are looking for, such as "looking for woman" or other personals abbreviation usage (SWF, etc). I don't know what would be the best set of guidelines, but SOMETHING as a general set of guidelines would make that forum more useful.
I'd LOVE to connect with others that are into the fetish, but don't go into that forum too much since it's a generic list of randomness that I have to click through manually to learn pretty much anything about.
Anyway, that's my (hopefully constructive) two cents.

That's exactly why it was called that... back in the day there was a lot more selling of physical tapes and magazines and such, so Classifieds became the spot for that, along with the personals. The Classifieds forum kept both of those things from overwhelming the main forums, but selling items can now just be done on the main forums (it is on-topic after all), and the Personals forum will be more focused.

I would say do it in the main forums, not the Personals. But good point--the same exact issue comes up, with one thread constantly being bumped to the top, to the annoyance of thousands of people who aren't interested. Also there's the fact that the Personals forum has a MUCH longer allowance on thread time out, which would be appropriate for your thread.
To solve this, over the past few months I've been working on giving the UMD some groups. They'll work just like the forum, but individual members can "own" them and moderate them. Their content will be somewhere else so it doesn't mix with the actual forums, and you can do game threads or whatever you want. Coming soon!

Good point. I think I will add some guidelines eventually, because it's just so freeform and random right now. Since it's specifically Personals now, it makes total sense to do that. Really what we need though are upgraded tools for just searching each other on the site. We should be able to update our profiles to say what we're looking for--whether we're up for chatting or skyping or meeting up--and then be able to search based on that. The Personals forum might just be a temporary holdover until that can be done. I can see Personals eventually going away altogether.

Yeah, that makes sense. Sounds like a great goal for a final solution.
