Title says all I think. I've tried "half updo" "half up, half down" hair, "half ponytail" and "hair down with ponytail" and none of it seems to work. Can't tell if it doesn't work at all or if the gunge was throwing it off

Im not sure its doable. I have had succes with ponytail, high ponytail, bun, messy bun, top knot, and updo. I have also been able to say 1940s updo, 1950s updo, etc. Nothing more specific. I have never gotten a half-pony or anything else to work. Hell, hair length is non-consistant. Long can mean anything between chin and tailbone length. I have tried being more specific, like saying tailbone length or waist length, and I've tried measurements like 30in hair, etc, and Bing just does what it wants. I think, unforutunately, that this is a catagory that Microsoft has determined we should not care that much about.

Dead thread, but I have found a solid solution! "Clamped hairstyle" works reasonably well, by bing standards. Sometimes it puts the woman's head in a weird clamp, but it works often enough to be useful.
Don't bother trying to describe the hairclamp itself though, bing will put it wherever it likes, usually nowhere near the back of her head, regardless of how specific the wording is.
