So yeah, I touched base with Ariel when I heard that Maria was going to be swinging through Indiana last week. I had never done a custom before, and I did not even have a 100% solid idea of what I wanted to see, other than

a) a messy game
b) in office wear
c) with a specific forfeit (tar and feathers!) for the ultimate loser

With just that I e-mailed Ariel with an outline of how much mess I was looking for. I got the quote and a thumbs-up.

I will write-up my experience in much greater detail on Friday or this weekend. Before I do that, I can tell you that Ariel was consistently excellent in terms of keeping tabs with me; I don't think more than a few days went between messages, and I always felt like things were making good progress. I gradually got a better idea of what I wanted, I didn't have to pay until plot and outfit was settled, and while I've only given a quick glance at the final product, it's fair to say that I'm a happy camper with what I got.

I'm definitely going to get more customs, eventually, with a couple of lessons learned. I will post about that in more detail in a few days. But if you've made it this far, two pictures for your click!

The 1930s ones? I bought them on dvd a while back. They were always on BBC2 when I was growing up and I loved them, and still do.

I've not heard the word 'Ming' used to describe something cool before. must be a young person's word

tho Minger is sometimes used to describe someone the speaker doesn't find attractive, tho I know that isn't the context here

I like minge but I have to confess I don't see myself throwing a fuck into Ming there.

I didn't! I actually took feathers OUT of the pillow. I figured I would see how covered I would get myself with half a pillow to see if I needed to send you one or two. I think it took, like, a tenth of a pillow to cover most of my front. That thing was obscenely over-stuffed. So I just stapled up the test pillow and mailed it off to you.

Mind you I'm pretty sure this was a STANDARD sized pillow. I assume the king sized ones have all the feathers in the freaking universe.

So that was a lesson learned: a $10 feather pillow from Target is WAY more than what you need to cover two people. Everyone should feel free to make use of that knowledge

Finished watching the whole thing! The funny thing is, none of it sounds all that mean when you're just writing words in an e-mail, but FUCK ME, I WAS MEAN.

Ariel, I hope your shower drain was OK. (In my defense I didn't think the winner was going to jump into the feathers too, but then again I never thought about how the loser was going to get clean. My bad!)

This was absolutely hysterical! I've never in my life played such a fun game of Yahtzee! I thought your idea was brilliant and im so happy i got to be part of this custom. I was very confident I was going to kick Ariels ass... And I was... Ugh. She really turned the tables in the final few rolls. I can't lie though I was, not so secretly, kind of happy I lost. I was really curious about the whole tar and feather aspect of the game. I totally understand why Ariel jumped in anyway! Lol!

I didn't mention this before (in this thread--I did elsewhere) but I have a bunch of screencaps for the video in my profile. I also posted a looooong review of the whole custom process, for anyone considering a custom with Ariel and especially for anyone getting a custom for their first time. Well worth a read (I hope) for anyone looking for a first-timer's perspective there.
