It had been a good Christmas, albeit a bit of a strange one seeing family for only 1 day because of Covid. Despite the news headlines about a new variant of Covid, Andrea remained firmly of the opinion that the roll-out of the vaccines would solve the problem, and hence that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

Discussing this, over breakfast, set her mind wandering it had been a very long time since she had waded through the tunnel that carries the beck through the lower part of the farmyard. Last time she did it, she was wearing jeans and Century thigh waders, and she got soaked to the waist. But that was in summertime, and to do the same in late December required a different set of clothing: an Ocean wader suit, to be precise!

Wearing her denim overalls she carried the wader suit down to the tunnel and put it on. It felt so good to be able to immerse herself in the freezing cold water, almost up to her shoulders, without getting wet. But, of course, that's not the name of the game, so she kept pushing her luck, going deeper and deeper until she got an unmistakable trickle of freezing cold water down the front of her overalls from her neck to her crotch. I can't image who it was that dared her to fall back slowly into the deep end of the dam, but she did so and ended-up completely submerged; her hood filled with water and when she stood up it cascaded down inside her waterproof suit, both front and back.

Okay, so now she was wet, very wet, and there was no further point in being cautious! When she eventually clambered out of the water, her boots were ankle deep inside the suit and the squelching sounds were obvious. As she stripped off the suit it was clear that she was soaked to the skin, apart from her arms which had been kept dry by the close-fitting wrist seals. It had been such good fun that she vowed that she must wear her wader suit more often.
