Gunk the Hunk: Save the Supplies (Part 3)

The second time around, I had a better idea of how to remove the slime from my body. I discovered the knack was to use the long edge of one of my hands and wipe all the gunge off. As I did this in the warm shower, I pondered what the next game could be. Steve mentioned it would be fancy dress and not a quiz. I remember that I hoped it would be a bit more of a physical game, that way I had a better chance of winning.

I dumped the now-washed singlet into the used bucket and grabbed clothes package #3. By this point, I had started a little game with myself of trying to guess what was inside by touch alone. I could feel a couple of buttons and several layers of folded clothes. "Maybe it's some type of suit?" I thought to myself. Without wasting any more time, I opened the package. Inside, I found a white vest with blue stripes on it and an anchor stitched on that would sit on the left pectoral. There was a small blue neck scarf and white trousers with gold buttons that would sit on the belly. I'd be dressed as a sailor.

I put the vest on, which thankfully was just a snug fit rather than too small, and stepped into the trousers and buttoned them up. I tied the neck scarf around my neck and took one last glance at the mirror before heading into the basement. I looked silly, but I also liked it.

I made my way back into the basement. "Ahoy there sailor!" Steve called. I chuckled. He was making the last adjustments to the set. The large paddling pool was still out and in front of it was a large, cardboard cut-out of a boat, painted in white and blue like my outfit. At one side of it was a wooden box that was padlocked, but what concerned me most was the table on the other side of the pool which had an assortment of different things on it: baked beans, pies, and the cheesecake from the previous round.

"Ah, I see that's where the cheesecake got to," I said to Steve.

"Told you it wouldn't go to waste" Steve replied. Unusually, there wasn't a seat in the pool, so I stood on the side waiting for Steve to set up the scene how he wanted. "Any ideas of what's in store yet then Hudson?"

I eyed the locked wooden box. "I'm guessing I want to get in there."

Steve gave a small nod. "Not a bad guess". He invited me to stand in the middle of the pool and he adjusted the lens of the camera to make sure I was fully in the shot and looked as if I was in the middle of a boat. "Ok, like before Hudson, I'll take you through the rules on the camera so we can capture your reaction. I will say that we might need to pause filming though before we start whilst we get everything into position. Ready to go?" I nodded and smiled, staring at the camera.

The green light flashed. "Welcome back Hudson. You're now stood on HMS Gunk, the messiest boat in all of the seven seas." I laughed. I admired the whacky scenarios that Steve could come up with. "And this game is called 'Save the Supplies'. Somebody foolish has left all your food supplies for your long sail on the deck, but a storm is coming in that risks you losing all of your food supplies for the rest of the journey if you don't pack it away in time. Your challenge will be to open the chest next to you and all of your supplies into the box as possible before they get washed away. You'll have 90 seconds to do this in and you can't carry more than one item to the box at a time. If anything gets washed to sea, your HMS Gunk Captain might have a few punishments up his sleeve. Do you understand, sailor?"

I nodded and gave a salute to help set the scene a little bit. The game seemed simple enough: get the padlocked opened and run the short distance between the supplies and the chest, dropping them all off. Do this within 90 seconds and I was dry. Steve stopped recording and I had a better look at what was on the table. I could see:

3 tins of baked beans
2 cartons of custard
1 NYC Cheesecake
3 eggs
3 cream pies
2 tins of mushy peas
1 bowl of porridge
1 plate of mashed potato

It didn't take a genius to work out that I imagine most of this would be going over me if I was unsuccessful in this challenge.

Steve then handed a set of keys. I looked at him blankly. "To open the padlock," he said with a grin on his face.

"What?" I said in surprise. "But there must be at least a dozen keys on here."

"Exactly a dozen."

I suddenly realised that this game was not going to be quite as straightforward as I thought. Steve instructed me to kneel in front of the chest. He turned the camera on. "Hudson, your 90 seconds startnow!"

I grabbed the first key I could find in my hand and tried to put it in the padlock. It would go in, but I couldn't twist it, so I had no luck. I randomly picked the next one, but I even struggled to put that one into the lock. I chose another key at random again, focussed on just getting this box opened as quickly as I could. I managed to fit the key into the lock this time, but again, it wouldn't turn. I took another key and put it into the padlock, but it wouldn't twist again. "Oh, I think I tried that one already," I said. And then I realised I had no idea which ones I'd already tried.

"That's 20 seconds already" Steve called.

I started to look at the keys I had to match any of them to the padlock. I grabbed a silver key, which fit into the lock but didn't twist it. I ignored that were clearly too small or too large. I found a gold one that I hadn't used yet. I put the key into the lock with ease and twisted it gently. The lock popped out and I let out a cheer. I took the padlock out of the box's grip and opened the chest.

"You've got 50 seconds left," Steve said. "Oh, and I did mention that a storm was coming." I looked over to him to see him holding and aiming a super-soaker water pistol at me. He fired and the water hit me right on the chest, soaking the vest right through. I then understood why he aimed there. The white of the vest became see-through and my chest and abs were suddenly visible.

I had to focus though, and I started running to the table with the assortment of supplies on it. I'm not sure if I had a specific tactic, but I grabbed whatever was the nearest thing to me. On this occasion, it was one of the pies. I held the paper plate the cream sat upon carefully and walked over to the chest. I did not want to slip and get messy before I had to. I placed the pie into the box just as Steve aimed another blast of water at my hair.

"Ooooh, that went down my back!" I shrieked. Soon, I was running back and forth, grabbing different supplies each time. I retrieved a tin of beans, an egg, a tin of mushy peas, and a carton of custard. And each time I put something into the box, a jet of water would be coming my way. I started to dodge it, which added to the fun atmosphere, but soon enough, my entire outfit was drenched.

"Ten seconds left!"

"What?" I shouted halfway across my run to grab something else. How had the time gone so quickly? I stood there and grabbed another pie. I ran back to the box (no more walking as I wanted to try and get another supply in there) and I dropped it into the box. I turned around and battled through a jet of water as I reached the table. I picked up a tin of beans as I thought it would be the easiest to carry and started running back. I was halfway across when Steve called time on the game and I put the beans into the box.

"Oh no Hudson, I don't think they were in the box before the end of the time."

"But I collected it within the time," I said, winking at him.

"Captain has the final say Hudson, and I think you need to take it out of the box."

I gave a fake frown and picked it back out. Steve stopped filming.

"That was brilliant, thanks, Hudson." He then grabbed a stool and placed it in the middle of the pool while I tried to get rid of any excess water on my body. "Please take a seat," Steve said.

I sat on the clean stool and looked straight at the camera. After a few moments of making adjustments to the lens and turning the camera on, Steve said "so Hudson, how do you think you did?"

"Well, I didn't get everything, but that table is looking much less full compared to when I started this game."

"Unfortunately Hudson, you did not retrieve all the supplies of HMS Gunk. The captain has deliberated and decided on your punishment." Steve smiled. "Can you guess what it is?"

I understood the cue. "Is it to Gunk the Hunk?"

"Yes, it is! And as you lost a lot of the supplies, I think it's only fair that the remaining supplies go over you!"

I gasped. I was maybe expecting another trip to the gunge tank, but as I looked at what was on the table, I saw what was going to be coming my way. Baked beans, custard, mashed potato...it suddenly felt like I did not do so well in this game.

Steve hopped into the pool and picked up the two eggs. He then walked behind me, and with very little warning, smashed both eggs onto my head. I moaned as the yolks fell down my face. "Argh, you know when you're making eggs and some of it gets onto your hands and your skin feels tight. That's how I feel but with my face right now." I laughed. I realised how ridiculous this whole game was but I was enjoying it.

"If your face is feeling tight, maybe this will help," Steve said, picking up the remaining cream pie from the table. He walked over and hovered the pie under my chin.

"Just do it!" I said, bracing for impact and shutting my eyes. Steve waited a couple of moments more before he rammed the cream into my face. Once the plate came away, I wiped my eyes and saw the cream had gone everywhere. My chest had dollops on it, and plenty was behind me in the pool from where the force of Steve's hit had sent it flying. "You know what goes well with cream? Custard."

Steve smiled. I think at this point, he knew I was completely involved and happy to get as messy as possible. He brought over the carton of custard and stood behind me. "Yes, they do go well, but I think the cream will need to be on the receiving end of the custard." I understood the message: he wanted me to look up. I tilted my head back and let the gentle pour of custard fall onto me. It felt quite nice and gentle, and I didn't mind the taste of the little bit that went into my mouth. "How was that?" asked Steve once the carton was empty.

"I really liked the custard. I'll take that again."

"Careful what you wish for" replied Steve, although, if I got covered in custard again in another game, I wouldn't have minded. He proceeded to bring over the plate of mashed potatoes, and just like a pie, he pushed this into my face. It was heavier than the cream, so a lot of it fell and landed in my crotch. I then turned green when Steve poured the tin of mushy peas onto my head, which was so thick that he kindly plopped the last bits out of the tin himself.

I looked over to the table and saw what he was picking up next. "Now, I know you thought you got one of these tins of beans into the box, but I'm afraid that tin is about to go over you." I braced myself. This was possibly the mess I was least looking forward to. The speed the beans fell out was quite quick, and the juices of both tins soon streamed down my head onto the once white sailor costume. I felt the beans themselves move slowly down my face.

"Oh, that's disgusting. And it smells!"

Steve laughed, and I chuckled too. Thankfully, it didn't last too long, and I wiped my face free of any of the remaining mess. However, this was pointless as I then saw what was being carried over. "Do you remember wanting to get pied with this cheesecake in the last game, Hudson?" I laughed and nodded. "Well, here it comes."

I smiled as the cake smashed into my face. I opened my mouth slightly and felt the lemony soft cheese enter my mouth, but then I also tasted remnants of the baked beans and mushy peas that were also on my face.

"Did you like that?"

"I mean, the cheesecake tasted great, but I'm not so sure about the side of baked beans to it."

"Well, we have only one thing left, and it's the gunge most of our models enjoy the most." I saw him pick up a bowl that I knew had the porridge in it. I was apprehensive about this one too, but once he had tilted the bowl and the sloppy mixture started to land on my head, I realised why this was considered the favourite. The warmth of the porridge was a welcome relief, especially after being sprayed with cold water for the first part of the game. I let out a sigh of relief as the mixture kept falling.

I wiped my eyes clean and saw Steve standing by the camera again. "Hudson, what did you learn from that game?"

"That I wouldn't make a very good sailor."

Steve laughed and pressed stop on the recording. "That was brilliant, thank you so much for being a good sport in that game."

"It's nothing" I replied. "I quite enjoyed that one." I looked down at myself and saw that I was in a state. Different coloured foods were covering the costume, so much so that the anchor that was embroidered onto the vest was now hidden by layers of porridge. Steve took a few pictures of me and then I started to wipe off as much of the mess as I could.

"We're over halfway through the shoot now Hudson, so once you're showered and into the new outfit, do you want to meet me in the kitchen for a quick tea break?"

"That sounds like a great idea." I didn't want to let Steve know, but all the gungings had me a little worn out for some reason. I'd be glad for a quick drink. "Although, won't it be weird standing in your kitchen in some crazy outfit like this one."

Steve laughed. "Oh, just you wait and see."
