I think it would be a good idea to auto verify anyone with an account over the age of 18 years as this would be impossible to do unless you were 18 years or older, what do you all think???
Whenever possible I think we should avoid sending sensitive information to third parties as we have no control over what happens to it in their hands.
It's not impossible as you give your account to someone else. Also if someone hacks the account you have proof it's yours and have a way of getting it back.
The problem with that is it doesn't comply with the legal requirements, which means the site would get blocked as if there was no age verification in the places that require it.
MM is trying to make the best of a bad situation that none of us asked for, blame the arseholes who kept uploading rape videos of kids to adult tube sites, and the tube sites that refused to implement any effective way of blocking deleted videos from being reuploaded. That's what brought us all to this point.
I was asked to do age verification on my Apple account recently, and it said "Based on the age of your account, no further evidence is necessary" (paraphrasing from memory). If that's good enough for them, it should be good enough for the UMD.
Regarding silver_sea's comment, an account could be transferred/hacked after showing ID, so that doesn't solve the problem. Also, I don't think you'd be able to prove that the account is yours, because UMD don't get a copy of your ID (that's handled by a third party).
