Running across the sandy flat, Lavender makes a terrible mistake and pauses to turn around. This move allows the soft sand to liquefy into quicksand beneath her feet, and she starts to sink. Down she goes, inch by inch, her tall frame no match for the quicksand's zeal. Her long body--sheathed with a skin-tight, shiny, violet jumpsuit-- is engulfed by the sticky, sloppy, gray mire. She struggles in all the way up to her shoulders. Slowly, she gathers her wits, and pulls herself out. The quicksand farts, bubbles, and splats as she wrenches her body from the ooze.
