Hi everyone I know this question has probably been asked god knows how many times but are there any key tips you guys would give every wammer when it comes to making pies with shaving cream/foam thanks
I much prefer to use a quality brand, I empty several cans into a large mixing bowl, add food colouring and mix really well. This takes all the air out and makes it really thick and creamy as well as avoiding a marbling effect with the colouring. Spoon out on to polystyrene plates and smooth over with a pallet knife into the shape of a slight dome. Finally using a piping bag I like to decorate the top with white shaving cream, Tiswas style. Finally I like to obliterate my Wife with them !
[More seriously.... Spray a bunch in a bowl, then mix it with a spoon to make it less "shaving cream," and add water if you want a more soupy look. But in the current environment of 4K, SC will always look fake in a way it didn't back in the 480p days. Also, maybe they changed the formula or maybe today's models complain more, but nearly every girl who takes even one SC pie complains about the burning almost immediately.]
In my experience, this shaving cream brand is the best for not causing burning. I'm not sure if they sell this in the UK though, as I get this in the U.S.

When I want very large cakes I use Shaving Foam and it has worked very well for me to use Gillette Foamy, I can last a long time with the foam on my face without stinging, it is excellent.

You sir, have *PIE GOALS*!!! They are stunning I love cool whip/homemade whipped cream Pies but yours definitely take it to the next level
I have used every shaving cream there is, I actually had a very bad experience with Gillette Foamy, I use equate instead, and it's half the price, also the Luxury brand from dollar tree works good too, the sensitive skin is generally much runnier than the regular. No matter what you use, if you let them settle for a bit, they work great, I don't add anything to mine

Why did Gillette Foamy cause you problems? Can you share your experience with us? So far I've done well with it.
Sure sorry, I bought 8 new cans, and couldn't get anything out of them, not sure how old they were, but pressing the tops of them, hardly anything came out, was very frustrating
Two tips as usual - Put the cans in warm water before spraying for more volume - You don't need to faff with a piping bag to get the piping result. Just get the nozzle from a piping bag and blu-tak it over the nozzle of the can (be careful to seal it fully).

I like to heat the cans first in a bowl of hot water ,fill a large bowl of foam and then add half a bottle of golden syrup, add colour if you wish ,mix well for a very marshmallow type of substance. .
We stopped using Shaving Cream because we found the consistency of other products was better for filming and it also didn't leave Kate with the burning eyes later.

I've found that barbasol sensitive skin shaving cream doesn't burn like other kinds
I've found a small amount of water gives a "just about to run" consistency, or add a little "slime bath" powder to the water first to make it stringy and stickier. Soap dye works better than food colouring with stronger colours, less destructive to the foam, and less staining of clothes and skin. Adding water seems to remove the sting, I tend to just use own brand sensitive foams.

As you can tell by my name, I sort of like the stuff. Specifically Regular Gillette Foamy. It's the smell and the texture.
The number one thing about shaving cream that is often overlooked is shaking the can! When you shake a can of shaving cream you can hear and feel it in the can. You shake if a few times and you're done. Nope. Shake that can until you cannot hear of feel the movement of the foam inside. Doing this will give you a denser foam. In fact, if you shake the can fully and put the nozzle in the center of a pie tin, then hold the button continuously without moving the can, you will create a very dense foam pile with no air voids. This is not a pie to throw, but one to push into your willing partner. The total opposite of a light fluffy pie.
Thought i'd try mixing 3 grated shaving foam sticks with 15 litres of MS thick gunge, should be ready to play once its cooled! no sure if it would make pies but there's plenty of it lol!

This is the way they did it in the circus. They could make garbage can quantities at one time. The used a paddle mixer for paint or drywall compound. The nice thing about doing it this way is you can control the thickness.
Yeah, it was on the splosh website back in the day, think it was clown julie's guide to making circus foam pies or something I got the idea and it made the best foam ever lol!
I've tried swapping the nozzle for one from a squirty cream can but unfortunately didin't work, still to find an alternative if anyone knows some hacks?!

I searched for about 20 mins to find this thread just to comment that I tried this method last night and holy shit, it is way better than taking the time to empty a ton of cans and barely dried out my skin. I used 7oz of grated shaving bar, with maybe 8oz of water and it made 2 gallons of foam that was roughly the same consistency as cool whip. It could've been stretched further to give it a more slimey texture, but yeah this is definitely the way to go.
Wow thanks for all your unique tips and methods everyone I didn't expect this to be as popular as it was Here's a poc of the kind kf pies I've made since. Next thing I want to try is using a piping nozzle with the blu tac like one of you mentioned to style it nicer
Yes, shake well, let them sit for a few minutes after you make them, the heavier the better, I use dollar trees shaving cream, they have the biggest cans for the best price
