"Messy Model "Stage" Names"
Love you, too
So backing off the other thread of meeting producers and models in real life, I thought i'd pose this question to our messy models and producers.
It's probably no surprise that most models use "stage" names and not their real name, but I thought it would be cool to hear how you came about choosing that "stage" name. Would anyone be willing to share?

Our first official Messygirl model was Sara. She chose Sara herself as in Sara Lee pies.
We gave London the name Vicky because it rhymed with sticky and because at the time we had too many models with names that started with L.
Liz and Lane used their real first names.
Lexi came up with her own name as did her sister Nikki.
Amy was given her name after her first shoot. She just looked like an Amy at the time.
Jacy got her name because the night before her first shoot, we watched the movie "The Last Picture Show" with Cybill Shepherd as Jacy Farrow.

Ginger Dubberdee
Ginger - on account of her strawberry blonde hair which was much more coppery when she was younger.
Dubberdee - the nickname for her son's dummy (pacifier) which was used as her screen handle for Deviant art when we started posting pictures

Seriously, it's an interesting topic as I don't think the practice of pseudonyms is at all consistent; some models use them, some models don't. There are two pretty well-known models I can think of who do use stage names, although as that isn't widely known for either of them - I only found out by accident when swapping e mails away from UMD - I won't say who they are.
On the other hand, there is at least one set of models who do use their real names. I assume it's not confidential information as the reasons why were explained in a thread on here once, although just to be on the safe side I won't say who they are either. However, the point is it shows stage names aren't obligatory. On that subject, was it just me or did anyone else have the impression that Jessie really was Jessie away from WAM? I could be wrong of course, but the way she used to be so open and honest on here, and that she also gave a surname on at least her profile here and YT, always made me assume that was her real name.
Where it gets fun is where the model uses different names on different sites. "Tamara" on MessyWorld is "Hannah" when she shoots for Bob, while "Dede" from Jessie's site had become "Sophie" by the time she shot for Noise a few years later. Noise has also filmed the "Sunni" who used to be known as "Skylar" elsewhere. I've also seen Danielle Maye as "Ashlea" in some places. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.
I'm not sure why, though. On the one hand you can see how a model might want to have different names, say for mainstream and fetish work, but on the other can they compartmentalise themselves like that? I would have thought models' portfolios - and by definition, what sorts of work they're prepared to do - aren't exactly secret and so anyone who employs them regularly knows perfectly well what else they've done. And of course in this case, their different names all apply within the same fetish! No, I don't quite get it...am I missing something?
I like alliteration in stage names eg Decadent Doll.
I went for my fave wam substance at the time (Custard) and then used a book of girls names to find one that went with it. I got to Candice and knew that was the one.
If I was to do that again now with more experience and different tastes I'd be Claudia Cakebatter or Bella Butter

Fun fact: Every last one of those models was really named Britney. (Although some spelled it differently.) As Jennifer was for Gen X, Britney was to Gen Y.
Other fun fact: It was YEARS before I ever gave a model a stage name. In the first decade of the 2000s, social media hadn't exploded in the same way, and it was a lot harder for stalkers & pervs to track someone down. (Especially if you only have a first name, and it's a common one, like... um.... "Britney.") A couple models used stage names for ALL their model work, so of course I went along with those, but that was it.
I had to change that policy when another WAM producer was able to track down a couple of my models based solely on their first names.... He approached them both, one passed, but the other agreed to shoot, and..... Let's just say he did stuff during that shoot that would make Harvey Weinstein feel bad.
The model didn't blame me--she didn't bother to vet this guy with me beforehand, or I would've warned her of his history--but, in the wake of that, I changed their model names retroactively.... and then started giving ALL my current models fake names. It sucks that this is the world we live in, but I don't want to make it easier for the handful of stalkers and sexual assaulters in our community to find these girls. (Fortunately, I'm not aware of an incident like the above one happening since.)

The main reason a model might want to use a stage name is so there's no chance of her fetish photos turning up in a Google image search by a prospective employer in the future. Many, especially younger models, are mainly doing modelling to fund their way through university, and won't want student fetish shoots turning up when they go for a job at a top city firm. On top of which there have also been some horrific stalking incidents when models used real names in the past. I've always believed in protecting my people, so right from the start we decided to use stage names throughout, but keep them consistent - once someone picks a name, they'll be under that name in all scenes we shoot, and are encouraged to use the same name if shooting for other producers, as that aids cross-promotion and better sales for everyone, plus model celebrity recognition.

Seems to me that the backstories behind your models' names deserve their own website... It's so cool to hear how the names were selected. It's another side that we rarely get insight into. I find it fascinating!

Sadly, in a few years, none of this will matter. Facial recognition technology will be so wide spread, you'll be able to link nearly any full face shot to others through the dark magicks of the interwebs.

This is already happening thanks to the facial recognition used by FB and to a lesser extent IG. FB connected my modeling profile to my family members and the family members of friends. This has happened to a lot of women I know. One woman I used to work with lost a custody battle after her ex was able to use a reverse image search to find her IG page with slightly kinky modeling photos. Anyone posting anything on the internet should realize they are outing themselves the second they post a facial pic. There is a reason I don't post "clean" photos of some of my models.

i did not choose my name at all! i had no say in it! i went to do my first shoot and jilly said "okay im gonna call you jayce..." she said that ariel came up with it but then i asked ariel years later and she said "no i didnt" lol 
so, i did not choose my name at all....but here it is!! i changed it to "lux lane" for a short period of time bc i love the names lux and luca....but man....im jayce. been jayce. didnt have that ring to it....haha XD
