I've been considering doing my own content for the last few months and wanted to see if I could get some information regarding the producing process. I'm not likely to be able to start anytime soon but wanted to get an idea of the how feasible producing my own content would be as the creative/visual side appeals to me a lot. I'm sure there are plenty of headaches that come with the process but I do get really excited about the potential of creating good, quality content and building a community.
With that being said I have a few questions if you will be kind enough to entertain them
Firstly, how would I go about finding/hiring and shooting with models. Is there a specific website you can visit or would you try to ask people who would seem interested in the idea based on their online profiles? Also what would be their expectations when shooting or is this more specific to the person you're working with?
Logistically, how difficult is the organisation side of things when it comes to planning a shoot with a model, promoting the content, taxes/financial planning... things like that.
Lastly, How realistic would it be (obviously depending on the quality of content / frequency etc.) to expect to break even or only lose maybe 10/20% of what you would invest into producing a scene?
Thank you for the reading and I appreciate any feedback that you are able to give!
Do you have any photography or videography portfolio to share? Or an online presence where viewers stop and take note? If not, it may be worth investing in someone willing to help you get started, i.e. the guinea pig, with a clear plan for a shoot. The bigger questions you can come back to another time. From several other threads on here though, I wouldn't expect to be profitable, I would cautiously hope to break even, and have my fingers crossed that any difference between sales and costs is not significant and a satisfactory compromise for the enjoyment returned.
Create a plan for shoot 1. Make it happen. Go from there. It's not going to be as easy as pointing you to some willing guinea pigs. Start simple, start clothed, start unscripted. Start by verifying that you can create the right environment for a willing model and attract an audience.
Thanks for the response, I appreciate the advice thanks. Like I said, I doubt I'll pursue this anytime soon as I'm currently not in a situation to do so however it is an aspiration toward the future.
I don't have any portfolio or any proper experience behind a camera / shooting, I do have basic video editing skills which for this type of content should be okay. My goal would be to invest X amount into X amount of scenes, that amount being what I'd be willing to lose as expecting to make back a good portion of it at the start based on your reply and other threads would be somewhat unrealistic.
I agree with you though, start small, start simple and try to gauge where to go from there because for whatever reason after the first shoot this may not be for me, whether I don't enjoy it as I thought I would or not particularly good at producing a scene etc.
