Among the landscape of WAM content that graces the forums everyday, where overproduced and often oversexualized videos dominate, I find that much of the appeal has faded. For me, the magic lies in the shock factor, the spontaneity, and the unscripted reactions of a pie to the face. It's a charm that I find much of the content produced today and for the past few months lacks.
Before I go further I should reiterate that I am not against these overproduced, oversexualized works and, rather, long for simpler times. Moreover, it's not that overproduction is inherently a bad thing (who doesn't love higher quality mess?), but instead what these overproduced videos have focused on: the sexual nature of it all. We're all here because we have one thing in common: Mess is sexy by itself!
The slapstick content of the past--particularly SlaptickStuff and Angelfan, (I'm partial to these creators as they've provided much of my and most people's favorite WAM memories)---worked because models were new to the scene. Those that lasted--those that continually reappeared in later collections--lasted because of their expressiveness. The pie to the face wasn't new and yet they gave the impression it was. My favorite example of this is Amber: it's hard to forget the look of surprise on her face.
Another great example of content that ages well are those videos that don't come from mainstream producers and are instead the one-offs you find on the mainstream media. Hell, the moment one crops up on TV there's a post on here that provides a link to it on Youtube. These videos capture the essence of my point: The (lucky) recipient is not there because they're being paid, they're there because someone convinced them to get pied in the face for fun. Better yet, they're there because someone caught them off guard with a pie and someone else was fortunate enough to capture it on video. I encourage each and every one of you to contemplate two options: Would you rather sit down in a hotel room, create a few of your favorite messy supplies, and tell your friend that you're ready for them to decorate you with mess? Or, would you rather be sitting outside enjoying the day before someone--out of nowhere--comes up from behind you and slams a pie in your face?
The unexpected nature of these early videos gave them a sense of spontaneity that overproduced content simply can't match. These models didn't have a carefully rehearsed script or predictable moves. Their reactions were fresh, organic, and part of what made the videos so captivating. In contrast, today's content, much of it sexualized and overly polished, seems to lack that charm. It's almost as though the focus has shifted from capturing the appeal of WAM to simply pushing buttons that get views. The inherent attraction of a mess or a "shock" moment seems to have taken a backseat to formulaic, often predictable performances.
I've attached below some pics that illustrate my point: Expressiveness, spontaneity, and authenticity, all of which I've had trouble finding in much of the content produced today.
That's optimization culture for you. Making WAM is a ridiculously expensive hobby, so I don't begrudge any producer or model for trying to scratch some of their investment back. But inevitably when you have a bunch of data and consumer activity pointing you toward the direction of doing one thing, you're going to do it over and over and over again until fun drains out and it becomes a job. And it shows. Unfortunately for consumers like you and me, it turns out that joy and spontaneity aren't where the money is, so the lack of it isn't worth addressing. And that's why you have the state of WAM videos that you have.
Also, if we're keeping it 100: I noticed that all of your example screencaps feature pretty young women with a casual everyday vibe. And while you may think such a type is so abundant that you'd never have trouble casting them, you may be surprised at how wary attractive young women are to working with fetish producers these days.
If she wants to monetize her looks, a pretty girl can do so on her own from the safety of her own home. But honestly, with the internet being more connected and evil than its ever been, a lot of women are simply avoiding that altogether. You had an easier time back in the day when the recruitment pitch was "A couple hundred bucks to take a few pies in the face that'll only be seen by the small audience of weirdos who buy mail order VHS tapes" than the current pitch of "Yeah, we'll pay you 5 times that, but your footage will be much easier to pirate and get in the hands of misogynists who could stalk you or out your activities to your parents. And, by the way, you also have more visibility into how dangerous it is to do fetish work with a man you don't know." Picking up a few extra shifts at the day job seems like a much safer move, doesn't it?
Put it all together and the days of really pretty everyday girls doing simple WAM for talented producers are on life support.

Thats my pitch, and it still works. My budget for each video is roughly $250-$300. I think I'm such a novelty here in Portland where people are competing in how weird they can get that it works. Most models ghost me when I approach them about filming, but I've recently tapped into Portland's stripper community and they've been very eager to work with me.
Over the past decade about 75% of the models we use are non models and first time WAM virgins. It may be hard to believe, but Zoey was a non model when she did first shoot for us. The roster of non models over the years includes Lexi, Dakota, Justine, Tori, Jasmine, Casandra and our current roster includes Breanna, Celeste, Santana, Megan and newbie Mystique. So we like to think that we do capture that spontaneous reaction with all their initial shoots.
This is coming from a trans girl and this kinda speaks for the p*** industry as a whole. I feel like we're just fetishized way too much, like I feel like ppl only like me bc of my schlong and not how beautiful I am everywhere else. And trying to pitch myself to wam industries is double the difficulty.

What makes you think that? I live in a very large metropolitan area and it takes weeks if not months to find 3-4 qualified fresh faces interested in doing WAM.

There are a few good producers who will work with you to get you what you are looking for.
I have 2 producers I would recommend and I have worked with both and have great experiences with them.
1. Wam Bagheera Studio 2. Reverend Slymsford's Sploshers
I have worked with others but would only recommend these 2.
I have gotten a couple of customs from Bagheera. One was with Mhabel when she was still doing wam, and the other, Bagheera herself. Both times it was fast and both times what they produced matched exactly what I asked and then exceeded it. I can't recommend Bagheera as a producer or model high enough.

Okay, the Zoey thing blows me away. She is *amazing* at 1) receiving a pie. Maybe the most underrated skill that is for damn sure a skill. Every single pie video she's in has multiple awesome full coverage hits with Zoey always posing and mugging her pied face perfectly before wiping. 2) Zoey can actually act. Whether it's being goofy, sexy, shocked, humiliated, or silly she nails it. I always LOVE the live footage of her or behind the scenes because she's such a cool chick and you can appreciate the way she gets in character for her scene. If I didn't own every single Zoey scene there is I'd buy another right now. Bravo to her.

I just feel like as a tgirl it's wayyy harder!! I get the reasoning behind some of it but I just feel like I get the short end of the stick!! I'd love to be with messygirl and shoot with Peyton or with MPV's new reboot. I'm feminine, I'm cunty, like I really wanna live my fantasies

You are very young. Take your time, and be very picky with who you work with. Don't rush into this. There are a lot of people that will take advantage of you. They will promise you the world, force you into situations you don't want to be in, and leave you with nothing. Start an Only Fans and do what you like. Its going to take years to get where you want to be. Be careful, and learn how to market yourself, light a scene, and edit a scene. These are all obtainable goals. Just be patient and take your time.

You're absolutely right and make some good points that I underpin much of the shift I've noticed. It's a fine balance to strike between making money and preserving the joy of creation, and as you pointed out, that balance often tilts in favor of what's financially viable.
The pitch to models has evolved into something much more layered and it's no surprise that many might prefer the control of creating content independently. Likely also in part the reason for the rise of many familiar faces we see on the front page of these forums everyday, though, this is completely speculative as I have no way of knowing for sure. And, yes, the idea of doing something for a niche audience has drastically changed when every video could be shared widely, exposed, and pirated.
The era of small, intimate productions is fading into something more commercialized and standardized which is not to say that's necessarily a bad thing. I'm curious to know of any thing or person that might bring back some authentic, "girl-next-door" energy...

And this is exactly part of the reason why I think you're so adored. First time models (I feel) bring a naivete that's hard to recreate for a seasoned veteran who's acting rather than living the part of someone who doesn't know what to expect about being pied in the face. Everyone and their grandma loves to see Zoey on the front page, myself included, because she "gets it", to reference a recent post on here.

Well...if I may self-promote, I try to do that whenever I can. I'm not nearly as prolific as the big names but I do try to go for girls next door more often than not. Check out the IG in my signature.
What a great post , it's good to see people's opinions on what's changed over the years. We all have our own little niche which we like to see. There are so , so many variations, I've had lots of customs made in the past, some were amazing and others not so. As I'm an older wam fan I do love the more mature glam look of an older woman. I'm into few mixed fetishes such as wam and smoking , I'm also into my cross dressing when I get a chance. I generally make my own little scenes for myself now. Alsways looking for that great shot of humiliation , all made up , glammed up and pied ! Could do with an assistant to wield the pies lol As you can see I'm a huge fan of clothed wam and shaving foam pies, slosh. A big fan of clown Julie and Gilly's Silly House. Here's a few of my own pics from over the years. I've spoken to so many umd friends over the years and it's lovely to chat re out different quirks
There seems to be way more content then there use to be, which is good, as we all have niches within the fetish. I guess that makes it harder to find the exact conten we're looking for. Sometimes that is frustrating, but I've got used to searching and keeping an eye for the gold (gold being content I enjoy, which is subjective!). For me personally, I'm not into the over sexualisation, at all! I like hot outfits, but opt for bra and knickers on.
Knicker filling - messy angel, messy girls, Jeremy custard
"Oh no, please don't gunge me, I got my hair done" - totally gunged
Anything Bri, Kacie James or sticky Vicky produces. I have a leaning towards British accents, sorry
Classics - bound2bmessy, gunge girls, messy world (game show style)

I totally agree. I have recently come back on here as was getting washed out by the 'too polished' performances from models who clearly are there for the paychaeck and that's fine, but it gets a bit 'samey' hence me taking a break. However, there seems to be a slight resurgence to the authentic original 'amateur' creators who have started posting stuff they appear to enjoy doing. Luscious Laura and Megan being a couple to name two. I'm about to go shopping after payday. Lol So things perhaps are going full circle?! Hopefully.

Everyone has their own wam niche and while I generally prefer sexualized content, I also appreciate the more "G" rated stuff from time to time to break things up. I also really like watching genuine first timers especially seeing their shock and newfound joy in the fetish, hoping that they like it enough to return and do more shoots.
I also appreciate producers who try to do things differently each shoot.
I have a rather interesting story about pie WAM and sexualization. I was the one who commissioned Pie Wedgies from the late Rob Blaine. I wanted 5 girls with an embarrassment style video - pie fight, no sexualization. His reply? (paraphrasing) "I can't do that. For me, it'll never sell without sexual elements." That's why at the end, all of the girls strip down and roll around in pie mess playing with each other.
You can say "well if it was a custom than I get exactly what I want." Yeah...we did discuss a price on 5 girls exactly the way I wanted it with no sexualization. I passed on that price and went with sexualization at the end.
